I've been thinking, why the hell didn't DICE just do a legacy maintenance update for BC1, 2 and 1943 where you could just rent servers with your own settings added?

That way it'd offset the extensive costs of server running for them, take all the money from rented servers to maintain them and maybe hire a small 'legacy team' for moderative purposes.

Or hell, add more DLC to them.

Even now there's 'Bad Company 3 theory' videos pulling tens or hundreds of thousands of views. There IS a Bad Company market still out there.

After all, the p2w system is a big reason why Heroes, in a sense, failed. Weapons were not balanced well enough due to money-based ulterior motives

Heroes could certainly be much bigger if this was in place and if the devs had listened to the players. Many sensible proposals were shot down and de-prioritised

It's just a pity and sad that this was the fate of the game
