Arguably BF1 is the peak battlefield experience, the only downside is that they cut dismemberment and the trench building system.

Given the fact that it's almost been eight years now, it'd sure be nice of DICE to make a remake of BF1 with more expansive versions of the maps, returning the previously cut maps and adding more expansions to the campaign along with cut or soft-locked weapons...

Here’s the thing tho, planes (and to a slightly smaller degree tanks) are broken in both games, and battlefield is a casual fps arcade shooter anyway. Bfv is definitely a more competitively focused title but that’s why it has so many balancing anomalies and strange decisions, which makes the ‘better gameplay’ argument so confusing to me in the first place

I get the idea on paper behind stuff like removing 3d spotting or the attrition system. But these things just have unnecessary side effects that immediately create a totally different experience than I have with other titles in a way that tends to inconvenience me more than anything else

I personally just have way more fun playing bf1 cause the game is fucking lit with the sound design and visuals, and it’s not like it doesn’t deliver the same core battlefield experience anyway (+no weird mechanics)

BFV had less of a regard for the casual balancing and design as well as even doubling down against historical authenticity, which is why I think it commercially failed, and why although I play both games I still favor bf1

BF1 just hits every mark with me, cause it’s also not very common for triple A games to come out like that one did

I do give due props to bfv for fortifications, subclasses and 99% of the movement tho

Depends on what type of FPS you like

If you want a more modern then go with BF4, however its harder for newer players to get into it because u will be going up against sweats who have played it for the last decade. Also imo the vehicle/infantry balance is rubbish and most of the maps suck

BF1 is my personal favorite, solid and simple gameplay and is (mostly) well balanced. The most immersive game in the franchise, and imo the best historical shooter ever made

BFV is a downgrade to Bf1 but still a solid title. Its more faster paced and quicker TTK

2042 imo is still a no bueno, dont buy it when there are so much better BF games out there

In conclusion, buy BF1

If u do get BF1, get the revolution edition, it has all DLC and content packs with it

Not just the cringe Nowegian campaign, I mean there weren't female soldiers in front-line service as portrayed in BFV overall. Some nations had female soldiers working as spies doing espionage or guerilla tactics but not any to my knowledge in the traditionally 'male' front line roles.

No game is so far fully historically accurate. BF5 wanted to push agenda. Rather than telling real history about the battle that took place in real life, They showed those battles in a way that intended for pushing politics, ea even admitted to it

and the Axis campaign is eh

it's more traditional

the missions also kinda suck

and the plot is confuzed and does not know what it's want's to be
