Battlefield 1 was a visual and audio leap for the franchise, BFV adopted new gameplay features like subclasses, specializations, more in depth vehicle customization, 2042 doesn’t really offer anything worth being interested in besides 128 players

1 and v are both good though , I would buy them both

Especially as both aren’t too old either. Most of the BF community typically sticks to those two unless 2042 has a new season update

Visual and audio leap is largely meaningless, its a newer game and audio is not generally a reason to play a game. IIRC BF1 has inferior vehicle customization, and quite obviously less variety in vehicles in general thanks to the time period choice. The time period was mutilated to suit the mostly quick paced casual game series, everyone is running around in ww1 SMGs (modern SMGs) in slow tanks (fast MBTs) and horses (APCs), it doesnt feel like WW1 and the map design in BF1 is much more linear, BF1 was a downgrade and it only GOT WORSE from there

Always loved the immersive feel of 3 and 4, 1 and everything after just feels strange

On top of the gameplay loop that was already established with previous titles, BF1s graphics and sound design (which… even if you don’t think so, are important metrics for games regardless) improved on previous titles. That’s all that means. I especially mention and specify it because people have this thought now that BF1 was “immersion over gameplay”, when despite gunplay changes to balance out with the map design, gameplay wasn’t much different from previous titles. (IMO it’d be a better argument to just insist BF1 and older altogether are only worth playing nowadays if you like the theme over the gameplay)

BF1 doesn’t have as much vehicle customization correct, mainly because of the theme.

The rest of the complaints besides map design is generally subjective, BF1 does a good job at bridging a gameplay and theme balance that still makes gameplay appropriate for being a sandbox casual fps, so I guess if you were looking for an authentic experience, you were already out of luck anyways

As for the linear map design though I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing is it? Makes maps like achi baba and caporetto (of course there’s way more lol) decently simple and fast paced maps

Slightly unrelated topic but I always had a nitpick back then about BF1s snipers all modeling the scopes on the side of the gun (even though it was realistic lol)

The majority of the conquest maps limited the ability to flank, they were very long in one direction and not the other, meaning that conquest played a lot like Rush, that can be cool, but for the more open maps I want the map to be open, allowing for the freedom to move and take poorly defended points like in the previous games

Consistent map rotation is best, then you can join server at start of you favourite maps. I usually join on Arras then play Al Marj, Underground, Rotterdam and Devastation then leave and back to Arras.

Map voting means you can miss your fave maps. If server has a bunch of useless campers they will vote for a big sniping borefest (rather than a good close quarters run n gun map)

Hey I have a problem with re-downloading BFV onto my PS4

Essentially it's bugged out and won't run because "the DLCs are corrupted" and for some reason it counts the BF1 DLCs I own to be for BFV

Seems like you're gonna have to reinstall because I never encountered this issue on PS4, and on PS5 when I download the game it allows me to "Select Content to Install" which only has Battlefield V Beta Early Access, the DLC for BFV is already included with the base game, there are no packs to download like BF1, as for that DLC showing up, idk, I would keep them unselected if you get a Select Content screen on PS4 as well, you unfortunately probably have no other option but to spend 4 hours downloading it again.

Maybe try rebuilding the database and what not on PS4 as well before doing that to fix any corrupted save files and other files.
