Is it just me or are BF2042 aircraft lower-skill / low-risk and higher-reward? Don't have 2042 but what's with the flight assist?

Imo aircraft in BF2 were the best. The helicopters were fast and deadly glass cannons, but required high skill to maneuver and had much more difficult handling and flew much faster than post-BF2 helis. Aiming the attack helicopter rockets depends on your velocity - how quickly you're moving horizontally/vertically and your nose angle. But if you do land shots them they can wipe out tanks in 1 pass. The jet cannons were laser accurate and you had 2 dumbfire bombs (like the JDAM) that you can aim based on the angle at which you approach land/sea targets. For example if you're flying more horizontally the 2 bombs will be more spread out, more vertical and the 2 bombs dropped will land closer. In BF4 you don't have to take into account plane angle and there's a small camera that tells you exactly where the 1 JDAM bomb will land.

In BF3 and BF4 you still had somewhat skillful maneuvering and aiming to consider. Especially things like TV missiles, leading rocket shots (especially Zuni's), and Tow missiles. The lock-on stuff is very much for beginners and is low-skill low-reward

tl;dr BF2 aircraft were the best because they were deadly glass cannons. You needed skillful maneuvering and aim to do well

BF1 usually is called one of the more explosive spammy titles. (Depends on your session) but if you can buy both V and 1 I absolutely recommend you do so 100%

random bullet deviation is in BF1 and older games, they use spread based gunplay mechanics which range limit guns to different effective ranges. So in BF1 you for instance won’t be shooting anyone as accurately as you might be able to in a game like modern warfare 2019

BFV uses spread to recoil conversion or random recoil which basically means every bullet goes where the gun reticle is. But the random recoil is an unpredictable pattern that will move your gun around to imitate recoil. It’s more of a newer type of gunplay but I think BF4 for example has probably the series best gunplay because it has spread but no visual recoil so you’re emphasized to tap or semi fire at ranges or force to get closer

depends on what you are looking for. Farquar hill is good for mid range. Auto Loading extended is much better for close range. Howell sniper lets you contest scouts and is also really good at mid to longe range. There isn't the best gun imo.

If four of us join a server on BFV then the others ‘join game’ on one of us it usually puts us on same team. If not, the second squad just switches team. Then we get to stay on same team for night (next to no team balance on BFV - but that’s a separate issue)

Autoloading 8.25 and 1907 SL are very similar guns that I think are near the top. One is slightly better than the other at a certain range and viceversa

Selbstlader 1916 Marksman is amazing at further distances. It gets heavily outclassed in shorter ranges but you can compensate with your side arm

Fedorov Avtomat isn't the best at any range but it's good at every range and it's also a true automatic gun

Rental/community servers are no where near as good as they used to be. If you have a big community you can fill them but if not, very difficult. Hardline rental servers were great, I had a TDM server with standard settings which ran by itself most the day whether we were on it or not.

Multiple people I’ve played with on Xbox are getting a 34601 error when they try to choose any playlist. The only way to access a game is by going through the server lists. I had my friends check and all they see are conquests/capture the flag games as well.

This 34601 error has been popping up for both of them for around 4 weeks (the time we’ve been spending getting back into the game…. Or at least trying to get into the fucking game)

You also have to consider that recoil is not fully controllable in BFV, spread to recoil conversion is a thing and adds randomness to the recoil.

If you play medic for example. You want to focus on keeping your squad and teams health/ammo replenished and sometimes sacrifice yourself in the process while pushing the objective. Or with engineer you could spend the whole match repairing vehicles and still contribute more than just going for kills.

In those scenarios you could die 10 times and get 0 kills but still contribute more than a guy just picking off enemies and not pushing or defending any objectives

I prefer the pouches over the crates on medic and assault. I can throw a pouch for myself and can reposition if I get pushed. Same goes for the team mates.Crates tend to limit your movement and are also in slower to resupply explosives or flares for sniper+you have to stay stationary and the crate can reveal your location.

No, but if I'm playing assault and a support throws me a pouch I instantly get back some explosives. With a crate I have to wait for ages until I get a single rocket or dynamite.

No doubt its better for aoe healing and for climbing the scoreboard but if you are trying to avoid cluster fucks and choke points and instead are moving to flank the pouch is better. Pro and cons on both sides. Depends on the preferred play style.

depends on the time. Late night in Europe domination lobbies are rare and the private server admins tend to swing the ban hammer pretty quickly if you have a good round.

I really don’t see how they’re gonna make them any “shorter” for such large maps to accommodate 128 players

But with reworked versions of the map, IMO, I believe however long it takes between objectives depends on players and how they choose to move around/if they use in game resources given to them to do so

Either way, they won’t be much shorter, and I’m also cool with it

Despite 2042s balancing and design problems I do like those larger battles that you typically find in it
