4 never struck a cord with me. And IMO had pretty shit DLC. IDK if it was the gun balance, or it was the fact that I hated most of the maps. Probably a mix of both. Along with gadgets made for shitbirds. BF4 has always felt mid at best and shit at worst.

Dropping building facades on people on Seine or Grand Bazaar. It’s still the only game with actual rubble being dropped everywhere. Destroyed structures had tons of detail on BF3. The ONLY issue I had with BF3 destruction was that you couldn’t collapse 2 story houses.

It's not the devs, I really don't think it is. It's the EA execs who tell the devs what to make, 2042 had easily the roughest dev cycle of any BF game when you look behind the scenes due to covid, failure to update the engine in a timely manner, EA execs changing their minds multiple times on what they wanted the game to be, overambition with multiple different games packed into one, multiple different studios making different parts of the game with inefficient communication, etc.

Like, they do that because people don't join empty servers, most people actively filter out empty servers, so if they didn't do that, it'd be a pain in the ass to fill servers.

I mean, I just use Battlelog. It's not hard to check if a server is actually populated on there, you just view the full server page of whatever server you wanna join and you'll see names at the bottom if it's actually populated. It's also a good idea to pay attention to what times the servers you wanna join are actually active, like people will generally be playing during the afternoon up till about 11-12 PM. Sure you might have some people that stay up past that but generally i consider the afternoon to be the peak time for most active BF4 servers.

BF2042 disconnects my PlayStation 4 Pro's internet consistently some time after it is booted. This is the only game that does this on Playstation, including games such as Destiny 2, and this is the only Battlefield that has exhibited this behavior for me (granted the previous experiences were on PC)

Is there a genuine fix? It's a bit of a bummer to get a squad and then to get booted

I of course understand that this is a modern EA game and the point is to be as difficult of an experience to co-op with as possible

go back and read the whole article. dice was left alone until after battlefield 4 released then ea changed the studios involved and the head of battlefield development and creativity. so everything up to and including battlefield 4 was DICE in control after 4 ea took over and created the subpar games that exist today
