You can also try get a compressed air can and spray through the cracks of your analog stick to see if you can dislodge any debris.

yeah i would recommend not playing on official DICE servers, just play on community servers because admins can actually ban cheaters if you report them on those

Most fun bf1 play style is probably tank hunting. With assault I run every single anti tank gadgets and weapons I can possibly equip and then I just go around the map chasing tanks and playing ring around the Rosie with them

Anyone having trouble with BF1 lately? It seems there has been a significant drop in active servers, and there are problems with connecting to a server. If I try to join some servers it gives me error code: 1 and I am unable to connect (usually the active ones work and thats why they are active, but if I try to join empty server or with 1-10 players on it, it gives me an error). This is happening for the past month for me. I am playing on Playstation on EU servers.

in bf1 there are a few weapons which can kill you in close quarter areas very fast, like the smg 0818, Burton and Automatic 1918
and sometimes it feels like i cant even react to shoot back when i meet enemys with these weapons in front of me

That's true in any BF game with spread though, when you shoot, the bullets will go where the center of your screen is aiming. It doesn't do that the entire time and if you just hold M1 mindlessly it's not gonna work, but that's how weapons are balanced. Lacking that and visual recoil, you just have CoD gunplay, and I assume you don't care for having that in your BF game.

I think it was Battlefield YouTubers who started calling it "random bullet deviation" to make it sound technical. As you said, a term was already there, and it's called "spread". Short and simple. Can even specify "hipfire spread" or "ADS spread" since those can have different mechanics in the same game.

The RNG in ADS recoil is minimal, and even then with enough skill you can adjust your aim for your next shot since crosshairs move to where the next bullet will fire. RNG ADS recoil also exists in Apex Legends if I'm not mistaken.
I'm not an in-depth expert on gunplay mechanics in FPSs, but I know enough to appreciate Battlefield V's.
Suppression causing ADS spread in Battlefield 1 is part of the reason why I'd rather play V.

In Battlefield V when you fire in ADS, there's a recoil pattern but with a little bit of RNG. But because the crosshair moves to where the next bullet will fire (i.e. the bullet always goes to where the sights are), you can adjust your aim to compensate for it. You can most easily perceive this with semi-auto rifles.
In Battlefield 1, continuously firing in ADS eventually spreads the bullets off the sights. This prevents the player for compensating for the spread because the recoil/sights doesn't even match the spread. It gets even worse if you're suppressed. If you're suppressed, there's a chance the bullet won't hit even if you're perfectly on target. It's not a satisfying gunplay mechanic, at least for me.
It's hard to explain without visuals, but I know there are YouTube videos explaining these mechanics somewhere.

It's a fine balancing mechanic, it rewards players for pacing their shots and bursting appropriately in full auto. The only issue with this in BF1 is that there aren't any bullet tracers in first person so this mechanic is unintuitive. Suppression is unjustifiable, it should've been removed, along with sway on iron/optical sights. The latter of which was actually removed in BF1 Incursions, but this change was never pushed to the main game because nothing that Incursions did was pushed to the main game.

That's what i mean. It doesn't matter that the sight is visually moving, your shots are always coming from the same place, the exact center of your screen.
That is not the case in BFV. BFV, the shots come from the center of your sight. Not the center of your screen, so when your sight moves, where you are shooting moves with it.

bf1 does originate from center of screen, but bullets rarely go to center of screen
basically the complaint is that bfv is like csgo with shots not going to center of screen, but csgo is pattern based so it can be predictably compensated for while bfv is recoil based so its not predictable and a bit of a jarring experience
id still take a recoil base with a weird screen correlation over more RNG mechanics like spread based shooting though
most people that like spread based mechanics typically just like hard fixed effective ranges for weapons or favor knowing effective range/tapping

i much prefer semi predictable recoil and ranges "defined" by dmg drop off than strong rng spread and ranges being "defined" by lack of accuracy

The actual spread is RNG while the time it takes to build up over the course of a full auto spray is not. It’s manageable once you figure it out really.

theres a balance to it of course and varies by weapons, especially in regards to their intended range

some dude outside his effective range can just spray towards you and get lucky spread that kills you fast
and the alternative can happen too, you are within your intended range but the spread isnt in our favor and you miss a bunch of shots
generally speaking, of course better players will still shine, its how my stats are top 2% in that game despite me not liking its mechanics
