128 players is double 64, twice the load on the server

so 128 player servers are obviously going to perform worse, especially with more going on

64 player servers generally are more responsive with less network related issues

whether you are running the server or just playing on it, all the workload is being done on EA/DICEs servers

However 128 players also has an effect on the performance of the game itself on your hardware, you're rendering more assets and more is going on.

So there may be noticeable performance differences in both networking and the local-game itself depending on whether you're in a 64 or 128 player lobby

I will say, I don't believe that the negative reception to BFV is what caused 2042 to be the way it is. I think it was just the trajectory that DICE was heading in after BF1. During BF1, DICE seemed to forget how to make decent games that appeal to multiple types of players, and as indicated by the 2 slide nerfs BF1 got and the random recoil addition in BFV, as well as questionable weapon balance in that game, they seemed to be looking at retaining casual players, while largely ignoring the justified complaints and response from more hardcore/competitive players of the series.

Tarkov's gun mechanics are incredibly meh, there's a lot of visual recoil. People like Tarkov's guns for the customizability, but once you get past that, the metas are really defined and you start running into people running the exact same setup for a particular gun.

I just feel like it’s always so much harder when I’m the Germans. If the British can get all the other objectives except the railway bridge fairly quickly, we’re pretty much fucked. Their infantry will swarm on all sides, plenty of shadow and darkness for them to use as cover and there’s not many good spots to counter from. And their tanks will slaughter us at that range, they’re practically spawn camping once they capture A

What sucks was that the enemy had us boxed in expertly. Tanks pinning us down near the spawn, planes doing the same, anti-air tanks a little further back to take out any of our planes that spawned in, while infantry dug in at seemingly every perfect spot to keep us back and wondering where the hell they’re firing from

Still, on the topic of Battlefield, while team play can definitely still happen, and does in organized competitive settings, individual skill still matters, and this is something I feel has been taken out of Battlefield as of BF1. Like i said, BF1 is not that deep, and any depth the game might've had was removed with the Sliding nerfs. There is simply not enough ways to distinguish yourself as a better player in BF1, you're just very limited overall.
