The New Republic leading to the Yuuzhan Vong. Its Legends.. but can be turned canon.

The Vong almost destroyed the New Republic.

So, you could turn it into a series, similar to GoT

The Yuuzhan Vong would have been a great way to bring in a new but unique enemy. The first order was just made because of a lack of imagination from that movies team.

It took Luke, Han, Leia, Lando and the rest of the New Republic to defeat the initial invasion.. it's such a good storyline

At Celebration Anaheim in 2015, Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo revealed at their The Untold Clone Wars panel that before the show was canceled, there had been plans for the Yuuzhan Vong to potentially appear in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series.

That's the natural BF cycle. Game comes out, has a lot of technical problems, people drop it. Later on lots of content is released and technical problems are fixed, but people only start praising that game until the next one comes out and is (usually, BF1 is the notable exception) bad at launch.
