Pirating games doesn't do that, it simply results in less sales, which is why games these days typically have DRM in the game around the time they launch so that they can maximize launch sales. After this launch period, DRM is often removed because it's generally not as important. The launch sales figures are what's important.

Nah, it wouldn't change anything about that, but it also wouldn't really change the amount of money they get either, aren't they mostly on fixed salaries? Also, like I said. Launch sales are important, hence why some games will have DRM on launch but remove it later on down the line. SEGA does this a lot.
