If you’re down and calling out for a revive then it’s on them to make sure it’s safe.
Obviously you should ping the enemy that got you and then keep an eye out for others, if there’s too many about then don’t wait.
Not enough support players use smoke for cover when reviving.
I’ve seen plenty people calling for DICE/EA to give the ability to pull your pistol while being revived. But I think it would be better if after waiting 5seconds for a revive that it gives you the option to pull the pin on any grenade you still have on you when downed.

Team mate’s incendiary don’t damage teammates unless you’re playing hardcore.
But the whole pull the pin thing I meant for when you’re giving up waiting for the revive. But they would have to put a set time to wait for revive before allowing the pin pull and only IF you’ve still got one on your person

Or as someone else said, an incendiary. Might even be ATgrenade on an engineer, they do less damage to infantry for some reason.
But ,like I said ,they’d need to put a time on it. Say 5-10 seconds waiting for a revive, if one isn’t coming then pop the option up to pin pull IF you’re still in possession of a nade.
I’m not suggesting it happens every time an infantry is downed and opts to respawn rather than wait.
