Mortars being placeable in HQ makes total sense if you have ever played breakthrough.
Some maps its just straight up impossible to use them for attackers.

But people are still freaking out about it, and content creators are riling their viewers up over it lol.

Penguin thinks the new March 17th QoL updates are pretty neat. Some polarizing stuff (like the mortars) but overall it's nice. Netcode improvements, too. Another map to try out

The one reason i think this is good is because before Mortars was just a useless gadget for attackers on breakthrough.
You had to be in view of the defenders to place it.

I just wish smoke mortars replenished way faster. I like using smoke as attacker, but it's a bit tricky with smoke nades at times

Ever played breakthrough on blackwell fields?
Attackers get bombarded by defending mortars and they cant fire back because the zones are awkward.

Ultimately its a map issue. but this does fix it.

I really dont think an HQ mortar in conquest is gonna be much of a problem.

I like it better on conquest than breakthrough. But its a super one-sided map in both modes.
E is just easier to attack than A is. Its no contest.

And i think ive seen defenders lose once in breakthrough.

Like if you're attacking A from the opposite side, you're gonna die. You cannot stay there and hold that point.

I've had strange decent luck attacking A, but that's probably because I trap the place with those homing mines that pop when vehicles come near it

objective A feels a lot easier to ambush people who try to take it back
