but smgs are still otherwise useful, unlike lmgs or snipers

Now that I've learned the maps I make it a point to switch my character uniforms accordingly. It's not perfect but with proper positioning and maneuvering you can make the camo work.

I've noticed (at a distance at least) that sometimes they don't react to you right away.

They pop the corner, think it's safe, take a couple steps out or forward thinking it's safe, then start getting shot at by me.

Season 2 coming in February 17th. Penguin personally having lots of fun in BF6 and can recommend it on that basis, lots of hours to put in if you like nice FPS shooter action.

There are some bugs, Penguin not gonna hide that, this far Dice been rolling out solutions and that's a bonus. Some solutions have come quick and others later = completely normal friend! 🦢 Penguin recommend BF6 for nice action 😃🚀

Short answer, yes
Long answer, it has issues here and there but nothing groundbreaking. it has SP although not good for some I enjoyed it from start to finish and they have campaign specific rewards. MP has a lot of weapons to choose from and even with the current public opinion Breakthrough is my fav mode with KOTH following it. You also have Portal with some nice experiences (you need to watch videos etc for the code) and RedSec the BR which to me it is the best BR since WZ 2019 came out plus Gauntlet with a ladder system elimination is great. Overall, I think with the extra time for S1 before S2 would be enough for you to understand the foundation and grind heavy during S2
