Alright I tried Atmos and DTS….. I didn’t like DTS at all felt like the positioning was a lot worse. Atmos definitely sounded muddy and constricted… pretty surprised honestly didn’t think I was gonna end up sticking with Windows Sonic

Agreed. They so far don’t make it obvious they care or are trying. They release a broken update and go on 6 week vacation and then post no updates for weeks. Lot of people getting ripped off out of battle pass levels they completed but didn’t get credit for etc. player count wise game isn’t dead. But enough people are leaving the game and enough people are considering leaving the game if the devs don’t course correct in a hurry that s2 could kill the game if the next three months continue in the same way it has so far.

Honestly didn’t like either, Atmos sounded terrible at default settings imo but I play on a gaming headset Hyper X Cloud II. DTS 3D positioning felt worse and harder to read than Windows Sonic to me, and levels/gain balance felt discombobulated

Well, there's a pair of headphones (although they've been discontinued) called the nuraphone, and it uses audio sweeps and microphones to listen to how they bounce in your inner ear, then auto-EQs to, I believe, the harman 2018 curve to create a unique EQ profile for every user, it honestly works incredibly well

Since so much of how we hear is based on the shape of our pinna and inner ear, a pair of headphones that sound great to one person may sound awful to another person, so being able to EQ the exact frequencies where your ears differ from another's would let you create a profile that would sound perfect to you

Look into the harman curve research, it's really interesting, it's not an objectively best frequency response, but the harman curve is based on research by harman into what the average person perceives as neutral or 'good'

Even just using auto EQ can be a big upgrade to headphones. I'm still learning how to EQ, so I use auto EQ to the IEF neutral curve, and then add a profile on top for my own preference
