Why no developer should blindly trust AI…. When Black ops 6 launched and had Microsoft’s new AI chat filter on usernames. The AI had labeled common names as slurs that no human would ever take as a slur. However the game wasn’t coded to handle usernames that tried to create accounts with those names in them. Their account creation form also didn’t stop you from using them because it used a human generated list. The result: Having the name Carl, Frank or Jessica on steam on day one would label you as having a disallowed name and would cause the game to put you in shadow ban state while your account was reviewed. However no one would ever review it.

random 4k I/O is the benchmark used for drives when they need to "access" data, this is how data is assembled together (also called the seek integration) for drives, nvmes are fantastic (or bad relative to optane), USBs are absolutely terrible and have none whatsoever, as soon as a tiny file comes along it cannot process it without an interrupt queue

when you preload a game what you're getting is the full game in an encrypted format, what that means is at that point of download all the data is obfuscated and inaccessible and not readable at all, when the game releases the master key for the decryption process is sent, this is what "unpacking" means, it is the full game, but decryption is a expensive compute process
