Depends how they want to progress and balance. It’s a tough call tbh. I’m more the side of class selective loadouts that expand through player investment and unlocks. It retains a semblance of balance during the life cycle of the game as different players advance at different rates… that being said, I understand why it can put other players off. There’s no rule that fits all.

UE5 doesn’t help UE5 tbh, the external noises from poorly timed commentary and management that are a bit tone deaf definitely compound the issue. I try not to get too caught up in the stuff I can’t control. The game will speak for itself based on sales and player rention.

People blame 2042 for not having enough CQC maps yet every map had 2-3 sectors entirely dedicated to CQC, like the big ship in Discarded, underground labs in Exposure or Stadium in Hourglass(when it was part of Hourglass). People still didn't liked them. People want smaller maps and less downtime between engagements no matter how much they pretend they don't want it. Big maps creates issue of rotating between flags. And not everyone will have transport vehicles at their disposal.

All of the beta maps felt very nice, Im assuming the playtesting maps feel great. And Im sure people are going to create some insane maps on Portal. Rule of thumb never underestimate passionate community members drive to create amazing content.
