Just commit to what the game is. Shoehorning 64p into the game was dumb. It made little to no difference to the perception of 2042 by the end of it all.

Imo if it were just within a small radius around the crosshair, I wouldn't mind as much. I still don't think it should be a thing for infantry but for vehicles it's fair game in my view.

Auto-spotting just needs to get out. I didn't like it at all in the Beta because it let me detect a lot of targets I realistically should not have been able to see or acquire. It'd just randomly pop up a dorito in the distance behind smoke or in a bush and I could just kill them outright. Not very fair.

It seemed to me to negate the need for camouflage and positioning since you'd just get a marker over your head if a recon player looked in your general direction for half a second.

Tbh even if 3D spotting is kept within a small radius of the crosshair, it should have a range cutoff.

I just feel like if someone has eyes on you because of a spot, that's because of your positioning. You should be considering far more angles of exposure and if someone sees your side because of the spot, they eventually will without anyway, it just reduces the time for them to do so. Stuff like smokes which are designed to conceal definitely should break the ping, 100%, but considering the complaints about visibility I don't see it as that big of a deal if you are managing micro positioning effectively anyway

it all depends on how the regular Q spot ends up working. I couldn't figure out how it was meant to work in the beta, sometimes it pinged and sometimes it seemed to do some targeted ping but I didn't ever see it create the classic 3D spot

I was discussing this off the basis that it was just a ping like V. If they do bring regular spotting back then nothing really stops you from just pressing Q at intervals, which itself acts as an internal cooldown to avoid randomly stumbling across people as you rotate around cover into space, then I would be more okay with the removal of auto spotting

Cause in the end, to me the best function of spotting is not losing people in particle effects and detail above all else, as well as pinging people for those in close proximity to me to essentially act as what would be a verbal callout in say, Squad

I'll always be face checking defensive spots like i'm playing cs cause that just how you should play, if you rotate around a corner in Cairo and someone is holding it, if you aren't actively looking yourself and relying on the auto spot, by the time it is applied you are dead anyway

there seems to be a sweet spot system. I am not sure what the values are but I recall getting torso 1 shot kills on full health enemies in the beta. I would be fine with neck being counted as a headshot if it isn't already I dont think much more is needed than that though. I would like to see bolt action anti material rifles at some point but even then I am more than happy with 90-95 damage only being 1 shot through destructible cover.
