I am content with whats already in bf6 as is. I think the idea of having different unit type skins used for the various factions is fine as long as it makes sense and stays true to itself. For carabiners as you mentioned that everyone could just use them instead, you could just raise the recoil and soon less player will play with carabiners. Technically for overal player score as well in most cases. As instead of being locked to gadets you wont use therefore not aiding your team as all you wanted was the weapons loadout. One has access to fit into the situation and fill their desired role allowing everyone to contribute to the team as they wish to. Leading to an overall more engaging experience all be it at the cost of some of that realistic aspect. However as much as I enjoy the more realistic side of things this isnt hell let loose we talking about. Even then from two wooden boxes can build a cannon so yeah its a game and fun is important for all.

As far as I understand platoons are broken up into squads. Then all squads are designated with certain types of weapons and a certain number. This was done to ease manufacturing and supplying weapons and parts as you knew how many of what was in the feild and what was needed in reserve for spares/repairs etc. Also this way equipping infantry to be prepared for most situations until reinforcements could push up and dig in to make the next defense line . Though I am sure its rather different these days. Elite units even have their own funding these days purchasing unique weapons the military would never be interested in so make of that what you will. Apologies for the over explanation. again we dont need to worry about any of this as we playing a game and in a game like battle field 1 rpg to kill a tank wouldnt work therefore you need more engineers for example.
