You can’t just join. They invite you, if you’ve signed up earlier and then got an invite to join this playtest.

quick question - i've heard about options for scripting more bespoke functions into custom games. anyone know if it would be possible to place structures in the level that could be repaired by an engineer? turrets, fortifications, etc? I like giving logi-minded folks more options

they wouldn't be placeable by players, they'd be preset locations. the objects would start in either a destroyed or invisible state, then the engi would just use their torch on it to build/repair it.

Yeah MLG wanted BF3 as an eSport game, mainly the Squad Rush 4v4. They desperately wanted some eSport functionality like Spectator mode. DICE told them to wait. I remember my clan leader who was involved with senior peeps at MLG as we won 5 seasons of Gamebattles on BFBC2 telling me this story. "who the hell tells MLG to wait?" Also on BF3, Plantronics had a $2000 Nth American Squad Rush 4v4 tournament on xbox that the clan I was in Sons of Anarchy/Team Anarchy won. Plantronics were keen on getting into BF3 shoutcasting advertising. The only recording was from one of my clan mates playing point of view and took 1-2 days before he uploaded to youtube which was too late after, bugger all views. It was around this time I left my Gamebattles team to build the Aus/NZ BF xbox clan gaming community to exactly 400 strong players across 29 CQ and 44 Squad Rush 4v4 teams. I had Plantronics on the line for a $1500 Conquest season here in Aus/NZ. Our local manager at Plantronics was very keen, and sent for final approval in US head office but it was rejected because of the $2000 Nth American tourney was a failure in that they hardly got any views/ recognition that they would have had the game had Spectator mode. Without it they gave up on BF3

You at least have to acknowledge that soldier visibility becomes more of an issue the more stuff is in the world. BF6 has a lot of "stuff" to make the world feel alive, but that makes an issue as we are looking at a 2d screen, not a 3 dimensional object.
So while measures wasn't needed for BF3/4 it might be needed here.

Now you can ofc. teach the brain to be better at spotting, but people that don't play much will have a harder time, and we don't want to scare away too many casuals and have the game not being a success because of it.

One of the factors with visual clarity as well (and not to rehash one the "controversial" topics this past week or so, but the color wash "filters" they put over every map, to help each map feel more distinct, are going to also wash out some of the player models. I actually like the flavor each map gets, but it does admittedly hurt target acquisition a touch as everything blends a bit, palette wise.

That for sure, i totally agree with that and is also for modern games in general. The more detailed a world gets, the higher resolution you'll need for you to appreciate things more and also see those details better.
During the beta i sometimes struggled to see the enemy even when i had my reticle on him lol. Spotting didn't work half the time and sometimes it auto spotted the guy but there was way too much on screen that i only saw the spot symbol and not the enemy.

While upping the brightness of the soldiers look a bit odd, i do think its a better way to improve soldier visibility as long as its not overdone

I just signed up for Battlelabs. I had an old account that was used to play test battlefield 4 but I no longer have access to it which is a shame.

From what I’ve seen online, I really appreciate the developers listening to the community and adding features we wanted. This is momentous for this community as larger developer corporations don’t often and cannot often listen to their community. This is a great direction to go in regarding the games success. Super excited to play the game when it releases. If I can play test, then that’ll be great too.

Well that would probs be better balancing. I got double tapped by a shotty at 62m in beta. I just resigned myself to accepting a min of 8 deaths a game from Shotties and the tank as the price to play the map. Shotties have always struggled with balancing with diff ammos like flachette, buck rounds etc extending range/op same with tank canister shells.

Even if companies usually focus on the big leakers, an NDA is still legally binding. The moment you share covered info, even just in chat, you’re technically breaking it. The fact they might not act on every case doesn’t mean it’s not a risk.

Removal from the program might be the usual response, but the NDA still gives them the option to take it further if they want. Spreading that it’s “only removal” just makes people think it’s no big deal, but if DICE or EA decide to pursue it, they will.

I noticed in the beta that a tank had to take more than one shot at walls to even punch a hole through them yet you could take that same tank & run it through in one try. I can remember using C4 on all four corners of buildings to bring down the whole house on an unsuspecting squad holed up inside it for multikill bonuses.

The problem with having destruction like the finals is it changes where cover is and that effects vehicle balancing

The point is, this building has a lot of internal walls and various cover inside, from boxes to generators, behind which you can take cover. Even if all the outer walls were destroyed, there would still be plenty of cover. This isn’t like Golmud raliway, where it’s just open fields and infantry has nowhere to fight here, infantry can feel comfortable and fight effectively almost anywhere

I'd be happy with even superficial weather effects and/or day/night........ Like take the NY map for example, could have day/night/dusk/rain/snow variants of the map that somewhat impact visibility without actually changing the map

Invites are probably random, either you get an invite or nothing. Doesn’t matter if you are a die hard bf player or never played the game

If you look at their change logs they have already changed movement based on beta feedback. Your comment is a complete lie. They’ve made adjustments to their game because of how the community has responded to it. Additionally, they have probably added on extra elements to the game based on what a majority thought was “missing” from the game.

An example was the slide mechanic. They made changes to that to slow down the pace a little and make the game less “cod” like. Especially when it came to sliding and then jumping after, they made changes to the jump mechanic (punishing you for repeatedly jumping, making jumps shorter if you spam it).

The feedback people are giving from this battlelabs playtest will probably be put into effect before the game releases and they’ll probably make additional balance changes when the game releases for a couple of months until everything is the way it should be

You can’t join any playtest unless you had an invite from July & onwards. If you received the one from May? That won’t work. Me & friends got that confirmed from a DICE rep.

Check the dates of the email you received. If it’s the one from May, you’re fucked.

My issue is I am invited and still have yet to get into the labs discord, I have submitted to bflabs email etc to no avail. I am guessing the discord is great for keeping track but I can't get in there.

I get the same response of "check your email", I have checked each and every one, and I don't see a single Discord invite in any of them.
