In my experience, I would rather have a carbine for mid-range engagements, since the Engineer is out fighting with the vehicles, and switch to a semi-auto shotgun for indoor maps. The smgs lack damage at range where Assault can hit at far more reliably, making the carbines a better choice overall. The SMGs are mostly for if you want a close range option that's not a shotgun

DMRs felt more useful as an alternative to sniper rifles, since the higher rate of fire made Recon players able to play at mid-long ranges more aggressively while spotting enemies/lazing targets. The carbines are just a better SMG by comparison

Well, from "having plans" to actually doing it it's kinda a long waaaay. I know because they always left us for the last if they even let us in somehow. The best we can do is a open beta, and sometimes not even that.

Can be tough for sure. Regions with lower population unfortunately are not as impactful for the early testing Labs needs. Doesn't mean it can't happen but as you pointed out, it's often times not a priority.

There's a process behind it, specific questions that are being asked and players are then providing feedback for these areas.
