Debating getting a 9070xt for 100 euros more
Worried about missing out on nvidia benefits tho
Dlss adds so much value its insane
But 9070xt for only 100 euros more than 5060 ti the 5060 ti is hard to justify
Could get 5070 for 50 euros less than 9070xt also
dude cutscenes are constantly crashing for me now
I had like 10 crashes in the past 2 hours
it's especially annoying as I'm basically in the beginning of the end of the game and there's a lot of cutscenes
once the game crashes you gotta watch all again or risk skipping it
never happened to me before latest update
Do you use Lyall fix ?
I've been on a 1060 till 2022, then rx 6650 xt for 3 years and now rtx 4080, and I can tell you with a full confidence that you shouldnt get an AMD card
people like to shit on for NVIDIA for releasing broken drivers, and while its justified, at least they usually fix the issue very soon, within a day. But I had drivers with AMD that were so broken that I had to rollback to previous drivers for a whole ass month, every single PC boot because for some reason I couldnt disable auto-driver download, so that was annoying as hell
Mickey Mouse graphics cards
Not worth buying
But Nvidia’s pissing away their lead so maybe in a few years amd cards will be worth buying
I dont think amd can ever get ahead with their upscaling, would be very surprised if they did
also Path tracing performance is still shite with amd cards, ray tracing is slowly getting there
also since you're going to use DLDSR then there shouldnt be a question wether to choose 5070 or 9070 xt
Alright thanks gonna try and wait for a 5070ti drop and hope that the 5070 doesn’t jump back up in the meantime
yeah good call
for reference I have a 4080 which is basically same raw performance as 5070ti, and I have 80-100FPS on 1440p DLDSR 2.25x - DLSS 4.5 Ultra Perf. on fully max settings
Probably where I’m gonna end up, praying for a sub 900 price
What do you mean not for cutscenes? Do you uninstall the mod for cutscenes
I no longer have cutscenes can't say fot sure
New Build?
Wow
yiiiikes
"performance improvements related to the fked way nobody but us seems to use or be impacted by PCIe bandwidth" = press X to doubt. nixxes and pcie limitations that nobody else has even encountered before are more iconic than PB&J. 0% chance they are ever improving that behaviour lmao
how are you finding the latency at q=3?
q=1's too unstable in DS2 but q=2 is aight-ish? havent tried 3
i honestly can't tell and i doubt you could on gamepad
great to hear as a fellow gamepad player - will give it a shot - saw others complain about the sluggishness but no idea if they were on KBM
fair enough - happy to cop that and be wrong - thats awesome to see
unexpected but awesome!
Now if only they would fix their other botched port like Spider-Man 2 lol which is much worse
thats the one that was on my mind when i was rather skeptical of that patch note lol
wow they finally fixed the sharpness slider I just noticed now

a little QOL tip for when you're building ||and upgrading|| roads and monorails is not only does the "auto organise cargo" option on the radial menu combine your loose amounts of carried materials like the game tells you, but it works on full size XL containers as well, so you can withdraw x4 full sized containers, combine them into x2 and then carry double the amount in your truck
it sure speeds things along not making so many return trips to the Magellan
https://www.nexusmods.com/deathstranding2onthebeach/mods/22?tab=images anyone tried this yet?
the price of all this is that now I have even bigger issues with LODs than before, and now I occasionally have that dreaded camera rotation stutter that plagued the pre-release pirated build
didn't have this since day1 release patch, but now I have it again after the latest one
and now the map visuals break at furthest zoom
seriously considering rolling back to the previous version, Nixxes fail to fix anything without making it worse in other areas
anyone notice the sandstorns are bugging out with the new patch?
ive gotten the same bug 3 times since approaching the mechanic side of the map
I gave up on roads, rails and even 4 stars, ridiculous grind, it's even worse than DS1 and I had more than enough of it long before I platinumed it 7 years ago.
Was grinding teeth up to east fort knot but having to work for another 100 hours overthrew my OCD.
Frigging Kojima made an almost the same game that had flaws to begin with, but made it worse. The story is good at least, despite a lame temu ||Cliff|| 1:1.
But I now think that perhaps Phantom Pain being absolute dogshit wasn't Konami fault.
okay
I'd say it's the exact opposite, rebuilding roads and rails is even easier now with the Magellan
I didnt even bother rebuilding roads in 1 meanwhile its fun to just collect every material from shelters and just load it all up to the magellan
also use spoiler tag next time?
Roads aren't that bad, but liading full truck of manually sorted XLs over and over is still getting old too fast.
My Magellan only holds like 3k metal and Ceramics.
Might be to the wilder thing.
you can hold infinite in private locker no?
or at least I hold a lot of it in there not sure whats the cap
I play TTW and 4 starring takes like 1 standard order and some lost cargos, 5 star is the one that I only got 1 so far because that seems more grindy
Sorry, figured knots are obvious from the start, the other thing not so much but not telling much.
Weird, I feel like 1 standard and 3-4 lost orders aren't even giving 1/3rd of 3* in some cases, and definitely not 4* that takes 4-5 trips at least for most and twice as much for others.
Standard and some lost give like 500 likes and at 4* I'm usually around 5k total.
no worries, tbf I already got that one spoiled long before even tho it doesnt seem like a big spoiler cuz its obvious yeah
Do you do those standard orders perfect every time?
Yep.
Cause I noticed if I dont its almost as if its not even worth doing them
There's also a thing I think where if you hand in lost cargo just as you connect a new shelter to the network that it doesnt grant the likes for the lost cargo apparently, but not sure if thats true
you get the likes you just cant ever get multiple stars in one go
those likes carry over towards the next star making it easier to get
Makes sense why I had some easy star completions then
Yeah, I leave 2-3 cargo to turn 1 by 1 in that case, but usually lucky to get at least 2* anyway.
What I've started doing is entrusting cargo though - think you get full likes after a while but don't have to do yet another trip for 20% of 4* progress or keep the things around. Will see how it goes after I check some recipients later.
not 100% on how this works but you can sometimes just lose your cargo that way
i accidentally entrusted some stuff for a sub-order once and it got lost and eventually respawned
Yeah, orders probably don't work, lost cargo definitely does.
Got the hdr how I like it now I can play the game
It's never how you like it, you'll always keep tweaking something, it's our curse
If only they all were like that, this one is quite low even, but its usually ~4k to get even here...
Latest update seemed to help with frame drops also, but then this happens.
So far my main issue with the game is the same i had with DS 1. Movement mechanics feels somehow cheap and janky, especially on uneven terrain. I mean main gameplay loop in the game is movement through the large area - why not improve that?
Esp when you get v3 stabilizer. That plus boost skeleton is golden
blue lights turn yellow in interiors, it's wild
do any of the updates help with the insane boiling or noise with dlss preset L/M? Its with ray tracing reflections or rr AO on or off. I dont know if its just something on my end. For some reason it goes away if I put ultra performance........... -_- performance hasnt been an issure for me, playing 4k
I like walking myself, its not really that hard and meditative. Cairn on the other hand at times...
My only issue with the game, other than an overabundance of the same preppers bunkers with Kojima friends holos and warehouses inbetween, like it was in DS1 7 years ago, is the ridiculous grind for 4 stars.
DS1 bosses and enemies were trash, but this time it feels better, or maybe i just had a long break from 30 minutes of LMGing the giant boss in last city of DS1.
after the new update I am getting some noticeable camera movement stutter during gameplay
frametime graph is perfectly flat
but panning the camera I can see it jerks every x amount of time
i instantly started noticing this after update
never had it before
fucking great
same
they saved those who had severe issues by spreading them evenly between everyone
now it doesn't matter if you have a powerful enough PC
for example, now the game refuses to use available bus bandwidth, keeping it low at all times
Is RenoDX working in the latest update?
I've felt this on PS5 as well, last year
well I can say with 100% certainty I did not have it before this patch
only had the cutscene stutters which I fixed with better frame cap
There's only one specific cutscene which seems jittery for me, but at this point I feel like it's intentional
It's when you fill up your canteen at timefall shelters, the animation is weird
Looks like im going back to DS1
I bought a DS2 but haven't started playing it yet.
okay then 😄
I wish I loved a game this much
was worth it to not eat for a month in order to afford my first OLED
Ramen tastes good anyway.
Soba?
that part was batshit
and using DLSS preset L, how it's able to handle all those particles without smearing anything
it looked insane, never seen anything like it
it's pretty bad actually unless your input res is like at least 1080
it starts trying to denoise everything
guys do i need to tweak something in reshade reno tab in ds2?
or just leave it as it is
Click on purist preset for a preset that is close to vanilla. Default for musa's preference
thanks
considering I have an RTX 2070, I just ran Native instead
somehow doesn't have much less performance than DLSS 4.5 performance
and ultra performance isn't much viable on 1440p
that's at preset M — with preset L, sometimes native performs even better
and looks way better of course — 720p to 1440p is still far from perfect
Fuck this game stutters so much during traversal. I’m on a 5070ti and have Dlss on performance. Is there a known cause for this or a fix?
framerate uncapped or nah? I have 0 stutters with 72fps cap
Uncapped. Do you cap through the Nvidia app or is there a toggle in the game
really? It only ever stutters in cutscenes for me, but in this case I think I'm just out of VRAM
no stutters during gameplay whatsoever on R5 5600 + RTX 2070
on that note, I agree
except I lower the saturation, but besides that I do run with what Deep Fried sets
because I dislike how default/Purist makes nights too bright sometimes
scenes that really should've been dark just aren't
I use rivatuner, but u can do it in-game or in the nv app as well dont think it matters that much.
ngl, I see this trend wayyy too often in HDR games, and I never ever like it. Just let me enjoy dark scenes man, this ain't tacfps to maintain perfect visibility at all times with brightness
although that may as well just be an optimization for viewing said HDR content in a brighter room... I guess Gamma 2.2 is used by default, and Gamma 2.4 is supposed for 5-nit viewing environment, while my room while gaming is a whopping 2 nits, if not less
Turning Gsync off for this game has helped a lot.
Has to be something else i think, because I use g-sync and have had zero stutters
its just average nixxes port moment nothing new

Not a mention by DF. Never beating the nixxes shill allegations

5090 4K what's the TLDR please? Max settings, DLSS quality, renodx, done?
Lock to 100ish
you aren't locking to 100FPS with max RT, especially at DLSS Quality
Ok good to know. How is preset M? Performance?
I'm capped at 60FPS max settings including RT with DLSS Performance (preset L) at 5160x2160 and it's still really heavy at times, albeit stable
Wow ok
it's like PT tier performance maxed out, kind of silly for how little visual gains it gives
Might consider dropping the RT settings then
yeah, if you don't want to use frame gen and want a higher framerate, I would
I could use FG but really hadn't expected to have to in this game
it has a stutter in cutscenes if your base framerate is lower than 60FPS, something to keep in mind if you're on a 120Hz display
Sounds like I might have to. Latency won't be an issue, slow game. As long as there aren't too many visual issues
144, thanks
👍
So maybe FG it is. Set and forget
i've noticed the 4.5 presets acting strangely on anything except 50% scale
shimmering on terrain
I saw someone post an example of shimmering with L in DS2 that I've seen for myself in other games, but not here, so I wonder if that's why (I'm using performance)
one easy spot it's really bad in is at heartman's lab right in front of the delivery terminal
I'll have a look when I hop on
set ao to very higher instead of rt
rt ao in this game is so noisy
with dlss and barely any visual gains
How representative is the very opening area, from a performance perspective?
Hmm I'm seeing that even on DLSS performance. I've switched back to K
it's present with everything
gets better with higher res scale
completely gone at native
not the issue i was talking about
granted i'm not trying native because i didnt spend new car money on my computer
pretty sure it's the same thing
it seems to be a bug more than anything
dissapears sometimes when swapping dlss mode or preset
returns at random times regardless
it's only with DLAA I haven't noticed it
use display commander to lock it to 120 with fg
Hmm FG was butchering the UI
I might just use DRS @ 72fps for this game
DLAA looks a lot better
force FG preset B
well if you were bothered by UI stuff it's reduced
Hmm DS2 isn't an officially supported game yet. But I can still force via NVPI? Is that right?
your base framerate needs to run at either 30, 60 or above 60 fps btw
or your cutscenes will stutter like crazy
I couldn't run DLAA preset L or M above 60
big unluck
maybe with a 5090
how would DRS help
the game needs to render at native (or higher?) for the flicker to be gone
I can hit native most the time, so no flicker
ah fair
But on those occasions I can't, it'll auto sort it out
i'm basicaly under 60 at all times, so wouldn't really help in my case
preset K?
I did briefly try M but it shimmered bad
are you running rt?
RCAS looks terrible?
Yes max settings
I'll try M again
I think M was bad because I dropped render down
Maybe that's the answer....
and Reflections costs too much for a minor improvement
No RT, DLAA, preset M
preset M has issues with motion blur if you use that
Nope
Generally I find RT is only worth it when pushed really hard (e.g. path tracing)
When games just flirt with RT, its never worth it
Oooh.
but even in that you need to run at native or the noise is awful
Ah just realised ps5 pro doesn't use RT
I'm gonna turn it off. Decima engine obviously isn't built around it
RT reflections look fine, but they don't work well with L/M
But you still prefer L/M? For the handling of HDR and particles?
Ok cool
I became an M concert with Cronos
Looks so good
I've never really tried L tbh
M can be a bit unstable in motion tho, but should be good with DLAA
Convert
If I can run DLAA at a good frame rate with L, I'll ditch RT
are you on a 5090?
Yes
yea should be able to keep above 60 at all times
you can frame gen it to 120 and that's that
that might be more difficult
DRS if needed
maybe i should try DRS
FG looked bad tyoo me but I've not tried preset B
I would. Game has such different performance loads
I didn't find the UI ghosting too outrageous tbh
It was right at the start when the credits pop up
Completely ruined the scene
But that's perhaps the only bad bit!
I didn't run FG at the start so I couldn't tell you
Turned it on like 2 sessions ago
and seems fine
Never before has a game been more about presentation though
Last thing you want is artifacts or stutter
the only thing that takes me out of the game is the dogshit LODs
Just saw some weird behaviour with shadows being completely fucked in a sandstorm. The shadows of a structure would just move across the screen, with the sandstorm
disabling fg (preset) makes the game much smoother and I can't even tell the diff b/w m perf vs m quality
Sorry I don't understand.
What is "fg (preset)"?
preset b sorry
I settled down with 4k preset m Perf with no fg
cutscenes now never stutter
I also agree RT implementation is really bad, even with dlaa rtao introduced noise (not as bad as with dlss quality/Perf but still noticeable)
I've turned off RT and FG, and settled with preset M, DLSS quality, 90fps lock
Not sure if I can hold it all game, but so far so good
Feels and looks sexy
happened to me aswell
im also noticing in a very snowy part of the map at night, the sky has a color banding problem and is extremely blurry
anyone else see it?
i feel this should be a beautiful scene and its all muddy
I randomly started getting white squares flashing in cutscenes out of nowhere, anyone know a cause or a fix?
I dont have FG enabled
nvm alt tabbing seemed to have fixed it, but what a weird bug
is the banding in any way fixable?
I don't know tbh
I thought Dollman was bad but then ||he shows his backstory and he's even worse||.
Describe the Issue
Does this, similar to your other mod, address the camera microstutter issue that's pervasive in this game too? It's the only thing preventing me from enjoying this game since it's so cutscene-heavy. I was able to bypass it at one point with LSFG, but I've not beeen able to...
seems he fixed desync
seems to be working well. at least at the intro cutscenes
I noticed that most of pixel shimmering is happening in hair area, when playing cutscenes (related to DOF?). I’m running game on max settings, 4k DLSS quality, no dlss overrides. Is there any way to reduce that without using dlaa?
try overiding with Preset L
This looks good to me. comparison shots in a sec
Vanilla/Reno Default/Refried
500 game/UI brightness is unhinged
they might be playing on the surface of the sun
Its not natively 500 nits due to my monitors APL Stabilize
Right is damn
which preset do you recommend for horizon forbidden west?
Seems fine brightness wise actually, idk cant tell much from phone
The contrast increase cooks the colors tho
Probably some black crush as well
Whatever preset you’re happy with performance wise
At DLAA
M and L preferable but they’re heavy at native res
Last one
Actually id avoid K or J
Preset L Is way better at handling vegetation and grass than M
So try that
Unfortunately it is more taxing than M but its worth it IMO, huge difference
Gameplay wise this game is like, a perfect sequel
But holy shit the story is a complete nothingburguer
Completely unnecessary
First one has such a tidy ending.
I wouldn’t exactly say the first one was good story or had good writing either tbh
But at least it felt like it had a place
Yeah this game felt like Kojima had no idea where to take the story so he just dug up the previous villains grave
I will say I think the gameplay balance is worse too tho
BC after a certain point the pick up truck is just objectively the best mode of transport
Maybe I'm misremembering but I remember the first game being much more specific with balance
Like some scenarios the bike would be better
Some the truck
Some on foot
I exclusively used the truck in ds2
Ds1 was the same
Probably just misremembered then yeah
If anything ds2 has more limits to the truck early on
The bike is much nimbler in ds2 tho so if u dont need to carry infinite cargo, its better
I think gameplay wise ds2 is better throughout
There are other little things that imo the first game did better
And those add up
The 2nd half of the game is just || "Sam, this is Tarman. Another settlement needs your help, but I won't drive you there on DHV Magellen because 🖕 you." ||
Lmao yep
I definitely do like the combat wayyy more
But for some reason I just found this game too easy compared to ds1
Maybe it's just that I knew what to expect this time around
Whatever the standard one is
But its not like ds1 was difficult either
Ye
To the wilder feels pretty good tho
Ds1 bts were also just much more threatening
And novel
It was cool that you couldn’t see them
I guess that does change the perception of difficulty as well
Now that I think about it some more i do remmeber some parts where getting from a to b in a vehicle was like impossible
Either very difficult terrain or bts blocking the way
Yeah
That's what I was thinking
Also the truck getting a gun, net launcher, and advanced climbing tires while the bike just gets at most 2 batteries.
Yea fair
To the wilder barely changes anything tbh, and trucks bypass almost all gameplay mechanics. Oh this box cant get heat, or get too cold? Doesn't matter put it in the truck.
Oh this package leaks poison? Put it in the truck too
Mostly enemy health. I just completed my first giant bt in ttw, i died couple of times but remember not dying on this during normal run
Is some amount of banding expected in certain areas or is that addressable
i tried upgrading 11 bit to 16 bit earlier but it was crashing
liliums blue noise dithering shader looks good
Ahhh ok, yeah mostly sky situations
but i didn't really mess with the 16 bit upgrade very much though
The sunrise during intro and grey clouds during rain
But also playing on my g4 which I haven’t actually played many games on
So trying to figure out what’s game vs my setup
Not even remotely true
Sam runs out of stamina MUCH faster and is in general harder to control
And yea enemies do way more damage, the weather effects happen more often, batteries drain faster…
Does this make the game challenging or difficult? No, but it is better than before imo
Map in this game is so much better
Aside from stamina to the wilder is still very easy, only remotely hard parts are ||Neil Vana fights||.
Bosses are much better, not like there's that many of them though, and i've played DS1 before Director's Cut, but i only remember two bosses doing nothing but taking a minute or two of bulletspray, and one stupid giant boss taking half an hour of it.
The first one ending was great, haven't finished this one yet, does feel like nothingburger with ||schizo for the sake BB pod mechanic, temu Cliff, and Elle Fanning thrown in, Higgs is awesome though.||
I have nothing good to say about sequel gameplay though, while I like the act of traveling - cameo shelters and grind for roads/stars are ridiculous, practically nothing changed from DS1.
The cameos get really grating. Oh look, heres another one of Kojimas friends. The actual characters lose all meaning when the only thing you can think of is " Heres that chinese actor from Marvel movies"
My favorite part were the snowy mountains however, felt all the gameplay elements came together there. But once you link everything theres ramps and generators everywhere so you dont have to think about travel anymore.
So whats not remotely true? The stamina? its mostly the same from brutal difficulty. everything else I said is true, using trucks bypasses all the games mechanics regarding how to transport fragile cargo.
sure man
I think they could have achieved a much better balance by limiting vehicle use. Like this place has some chiral interference where vehicles cannot be used, etc, and makes you use floating carriers or just go on foot.
||the trick to neil is to just bumrush him with a running punch and then get behind him with the strand||
Yeah I was ||sneaking up from behind half the time, simply shooting everyone down from some good positions the other half. ||
s ranking his vr missions are pretty strict i would only go in with the lvl 3 stabilizer + boost skeleton and never fire a shot
Grenade launchers also stunlock him
Just got that basic exoskeleton item and those blue lights on it are alwsys blasting ~2500nits in relatively static area. This makes me anxious a bit about oled burn-in lol 😂
How is the game when fully offline?
you went out of range of the chiral network
Anyone else have to force quit this game sometimes
Yea been experiencing this since launch. Its interminant issue and hard to replicate but annoying.

Vanilla / RenoDX
New patch just landed.
any notes?
DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH is now Steam Deck verified.
Fixed hitches and stutter that could occur when zooming in with sniper rifles.
Implemented performance optimizations.
Fixed multiple rare crashes and improved overall stability.
Addressed various minor graphics-related bugs.
Various input and user interface related improvements and bug fixes.
Implemented various text and localization related fixes.
somebody know if new patch breaks the mod?
Works fine for me
I've been getting freezes/crashes every 30 minutes since the last patch, pretty annoying
I don't know if this has been addressed, but I can't find any concrete info for any game about this...but what should in-game settings be when using RenoDX? Left at default and let RenoDX handle everything? Will in-game settings be overridden or will they "add" to whatever RenoDX is using?
They are overridden when RenoDX is enabled
you can change the UI brightness if you want
the rest should be left alone
whoops sorry I was in the wrong channel
everything should be overriden by renodx
sooo whats new?
Sounds like my third marriage

Old presets will be much different
Should mostly look the same
Orily?
Old / New. I'm trying to find any difference with PsychoV-17. Do we have any details on changes ? I saw in CP 2077 that highlights are more vibrant, but not here
Finally finished, yeah, the story is wacky by the end... The fact that i was completely exhausted by stars and roads by the middle and just wanted the game to end didnt help either.
||Tomorrow being Lou was obvious almost immediately, but the main cast doesn't even probe it even knowing that Lou is from cuckSam and so is Tomorrow. It takes Higgs spelling it out in the very end for them to realize it.
I don't think anyone cared for APAS 4000.
Die-hardman dance was necessary for the plot.
Everything left to be explained is DEADMAN.||
Despite that ||Higgs is awesome, so is Tomorrow, and i liked Neil even though he isn't even remotely as cool as Cliff while copying him for no reason.||
Heck ||they were even checking her DNA immediately, but didn't see a match. I am no biologist, but i'd wager that would come up easily.||
ok this sounds dumb and I might be wrong but putting the game in ultra-performance with dlss L or M seems to fix alot of grahical problems (in 4k. not ray tracing ref/AO) but.. its ultra perf so shimmering n low res upscale. Optiscaler lets you change dlss presets on the fly and even cap at 30, 60, 120 and adding RCAS. I'm sure there are better ways to doing that though. only real big problem I have with this game is its waaaay to easy on hard mode and I play offline
I had to play with PICO because Reshade together with DLSS breaks the game on Linux 🙁 Didn't really see any issues.
ngl I also thought its going to be easy online since PS servers are connected to PC, but I was wrong, I didnt see a lot of structures built and I had to build most roads by myself
not sure how it all works or if its diff for everyone
I just optimized my routes and got creative; traversal did not take much time. I'm going to play it online on the hardest difficulty. But there's not alot of built structures people made? the first game is awesome to see most things filled up. I think the further you progress theres more shared structures. I might be wrong though
I'm like 50% thru the game from my guess, and im on hardest difficulty. I only noticed a lot of structures when I unlocked that apas ench. that increases strand connections hence more structures. so if you would want less of that you can not unlock them and you'll see less structures I tink
also theres multiple of that enchancment im pretty sure, so you can unlock as many to your liking, or none at all, which is nice
ah true I didnt think about how they give you the "option" to have more strand connections. I'm going to do that next time with the apas. I wish I strarted the game on the hardest difficulty.
if you're not too far in just restart, not sure how the game is on Brutal, but TTW has very fun combat
in ds1 it was basically nonexistent, but in ds2 ttw i had lots of times where i almost got knocked out despite playing it safe
I'm at the end haha. There's so much utility in this game to mess with, I love the combat . I shouldn't have played like this but I just pistol tranquilized everyone from a long distance
oh yeah same tho its so fun
id use the sniper but its so wacky, the default 0.10 or something deadzone makes it impossible for me to snipe
no idea why even at 0 setting theres a deadzone, 0 should be 0 and 1 should be 0.1 but i guess that would be too logical
Every single enemy has a helmet though, and silenced sniper rifle doesn't exist (yes, it doesn't exist, just like any other 5* reward).
I unlocked it the other day, getting 5star for ||lone commander|| wasnt really time consuming, it was totally worth it
also, i might be wrong, but the enemies in the lookout towers dont have helmets equipped, so its pretty good against them
had no issues with the game untill the most recent patch, now i got a crash 2 times in the same location
blues may be a little different but it should be largely the same. also it handles out of gamut colors better, so if you turn up saturation it should look cleaner than before
so for our use case psycho isn't gonna change much
I'm not a fan of the new version of the purist preset. It does the same thing that I disliked about default/psycho previously where certain light sources - namely the battery state indicators on Sam's gear and blue lights on player structures - get blown out(?) to nearly full white and lose their colour in specific conditions
old purist (26th March build) / new purist
The maxch stuff from before was broken
The issue was on those red orange robots
The red lights on them
Would just be straight red
So in certain cases it could look more broken than vanilla
yeah, I remember seeing that when I did some comparisons as well. I think given they're both trade-offs, I'm happier with the older build still just due to retaining player structure and Sam's gear light colours more consistently and with those being more commonplace than those enemy units
this is the main good stuff I'm thankful for Reno fixing anyway
vanilla BFF / old purist
I thought default preset was perfectly fine all throughout the game, but then I hit chapter 5 and couldn't help but notice how much more impactful everything looked in the Deep Fried preset. Even though I kinda prefer conservative HDR treatments, I'm leaning towards sticking with that more contrasty look.
Deep fried enjoyers pov
honestly deep fried looks pretty ❤️🔥 in this game
tbh i find it very situational - when playing at night in a pitch black room the purist preset looks great, playing during the day with sunlight flying about etc i gotta go deep fried or it ends up looking too flat to me bc of ambient conditions 🤷
aka nexus preset
good arms
is it all PsychoV now?
ended up preferring it afterall with highlight sat 51, seemed more consistent than MaxChannel
could try adding a blowout slider to see how it affects lights on exoskeletons and stuff
120 game; 1000 peak
Purist Default / Purist HighSat 50 / Purist Hue Emulation Off
Fire looks rough with default settings
looks fine at 200 nits game
i'll set highlight sat to 50 with purist
Yea, i think that'll make more sense maybe it's not that easy
200 game; 1000 peak
Purist default / HighSat 50
50 looks better to me
fair enough, looks a little too red/pink to me
Vanilla default for reference
SDR looking turbo yellow
horrendous
Nixxes slop
kojipro slop
from the few moments i looked at SDR i found it awful throughout, not just here
it's so bad
Maybe they graded in HDR with color shift intended
Chiralium contamination in the sky makes it turn green

They use sdr color grading LUTs
Yea, just memeing
It’s not the color grading I had issues for the most part
It’s how overexposed the game looks
Like yea im not expecting HDR details in SDR
But I didn’t expect a white sky either
And people actually play like that and post on reddit how HDR is a gimmick
yeah wait why is he jacked
||It's fun to capture BT bosses, but there is no Steam achievement 😭||
piss
ask me anything
this is the wildest case of good-bad game I've played tbh
big improvements to gameplay over the first one, still worse than DS1
even graphically it's much better in many cases, but piss poor in some, which ruins consistency and overall leaves a more conflicting impression
who made big red samurai?
maybe it's all because the story is the biggest piece of dogshit
||APAS||
for who though?
||for chaos, for everyone, just to make the fight and struggle go longer||
||they literally said that about weapons in general, this is just yet another weapon used by both sides||
||how did fragile know which beach to take lou? and is that world a beach or no?||
||Del Torro 3D printed it. Whatever he wants he gets, up to gundam.||
proof?
My friends dad works with Kojima.
||She just ported wherever and left Lou to dead people. Whether it was fate or luck that it was Neil - who cares, Kojima. ||
||Fragile said that it was not her who did the jump [navigation], it was Lou herself||
have you guys even been listening to what is said in the cutscenes lmao
I don't remember that bit, but I was so tired of the game that I could have spaced out.
fair, the plot is horrendous
Cuck Stranding 2: On The Chair
Good one, and accurate.
yea now i remember. been a while around 2 weeks ssince I saw that cutscene
i've been trying to finish ttw difficulty before i say goodbye to this game
I'm never installing this again
might replay DS1 though, that was some quality stuff
@wet rivet I don't know if this is a problem with the game or the mod, but I noticed that when using framegen (FSR or DLSSFG), both SDR eotf emulation options create a sort of small double image effect or blur when moving the camera. With SDR EOTF set to OFF the image is smooth and clear like it should. I'm using the game ver 1.3, Reshade 6.7.3 and latest mod version from april 10. Generic depth and runtime are off.
I'm just leaving this here in case other people have similar issues.
I’ll look into it
For now you can use lilium’s black floor fix for the same effect
Just set game and ui brightness equal
And set Lilium to that value
I'm assuming the default settings are the way to go for this mod.
Also is the version on github the latest version?
use "Deep Fried" and enjoy a good looking game
I used purist preset
if only it was actually worth it
experiencing the kojima's glorious piss mud filter in all it's purity
gameplay-wise it's great, but I'm still angry at what he did with the plot
I enjoyed the game.

Sam, tarman here. Im just tired.
btw, Dollman is the worst thing ever happening to this franchise
good character, atrocious constant yapping
I'm sure it can't be as bad as Atreus in GoW 2018
Youve recovered eveything, goods. Lets get them delivered
played God of Slop for 15 minutes and dropped it
And Mimir later on.
Later on they both start talking non stop.
Im currently on my 2nd run TTK and just connected F4. But tbh, really got tired of it after 100%. Im going to play pragmatta
TTW*?
All jokes aside, how's TTW?
I've played DS1 on hard difficulty, it wasn't exactly difficult, but when fighting mini bosses just on my own time, there were times when I almost died.
And there was 1 mission in particular I turned my difficulty down to very easy...
It was the third and last fight with Clifford Unger.
More or less the same apart from bosses. Tougher. You could be 1 shotted.
I don't know why, but that one was just pain in the ass.
Maybe due to more open map with not much objects to go behind to hide.
TTW yea, typo
Gotcha.
I also tried to replay DS1 again before TTW. Got bored, graphics sucks. Im missing the combat of DS2. The way Sam runs looked awkward
The animations are the same though
The foliage doesnt seems to have shadows. Looked floaty
Didn't exactly pay much detail to that as I was finishing my playthrough on my handheld instead of PC.

Something about having an OLED display seemed to have me more hooked.
And the comfort of playing in bed

Just earlier finished playing around with settings on my handheld to see what performance I could get on DS2
Medium settings, XeSS on quality, 2x XeFG with medium settings and I think more realistic shadows turned off at 25W TDP got me a tad bit over 60 FPS.
Could probably crank it up to high settings if I just played on charger with 35W TDP.
But I fully expect for FPS to drop when I start playing and get off the mountain.
I also tried turning off Reno and looked at sun, never again.
played for an hour, and I realised that I will be not having fun until I unlock more things eventually.
can't wait for the tar surfboard
I tried the deep fried preset, and it looks good, idk what's up with the negative emojis there

its the other way around for me, later unlocks speed up main order trips so much that I kinda miss mexico at times, but I also just force myself to use less vehicles
I've played the whole DS1 on foot tbh
so I was looking towards making use of other transportation methods in DS2 lmao
well bike and truck is more fun to drive which is nice, but theres still so many rocks that without roads i'll never keep cargo below 5% (esp fragile) lol thats why I kinda prefer it on foot
and I found the difference between S and A rank to be pretty big in terms of likes so for getting stars its important
not sure if it was like that also in ds1 cuz I didnt really do standard orders there
every time I tried to damage cargo with a bike on DS1, I found it impossible to do
was driving an antimatter bomb through rocks

yeah true now that you mention it, I could also rarely damage cargo on bike in DS1 but I was only playing on hard
but in DS2, i prolly damage it at least 3-4 times per trip, maybe even more haha
probably why that might have been the case, also played on hard.
even a small jump can damage it, unlike in ds1 where I drop down from ludens fan at least 20 meters and nothing happens
started a TTW run on DS2, that'll go well.
if I get eaten by a BT, I'm reloading my save.
not sure how brutal is, but I started on TTW and thats the way to go imo
cuz in DS1 fights were too easy and meaningless, now I feel like I can actually get knocked out and gotta be careful
I'm only up to chapter 7 (TTW), but I can say that the enemy that fucked me up the most were ||the sword guys||. They jump you outta nowhere and 2-3 shot you like nothing
and boss fights are also stressful and very fun, whereas in DS1 even at hard, bosses were so bullet spongy and barely dealt any damage that it was not really fun, just annoying
I actually came close to dying a few times on hard in DS1 against non scripted BT fights
but the one that made me shit myself was on the snowy mountain
I decided I want to fuck around and find out
the next thing I know, 2 lion BT's are on my ass.
I was prepared for 1 not 2.
In story battles they always came in threes, though?
almost killed them both but ran away due to being at 300 HP
not in DS1
always 1
and there were only 3 times they appeared.
didnt even know that could happen in ds1, i always only saw 1
though I rarely got into non scripted bt fights cuz I was moving around like a puss
I should have known that something was up when the catchers area that was dragging me down was much bigger than usual.
Must've been a difficulty thing, because I remember they always appeared 2-3 at a time in story battles, and the only times I ever saw just the one was open world stuff.
Maybe it's a difficulty thing? I played on Very Hard
doubt it
the scripted fights always spawned 1 BT boss
and as I mentioned, only 3 were scripted
originally when you actually meet Higgs before going to central district
he spawns one
second one was when Higgs appears for the second time when you get out with Mama, he spawns one again, but you can just run away to de-spawn it.
I knew I wasn't hallucinating!
https://old.reddit.com/r/DeathStranding/comments/17s94fu/lion_bt_boss_fight/k8obsgk/
Oh yeah, the Lions come back...and No it is not gone. Usually in groups of 3, so make sure to always carry lots hematic grenades (forget about the pee/poop ones) in the grenade pouch. Recommend a rifle that shoes blood bullets too.
And third time was the massive whale at the end right before you get to lake knot?
oh
you are correct
just checked
Higgs only spawns one, but soon after 2 more come out
maybe it also happens on hard, I didn't stay there for long and bolted the fuck out
but this is the only scripted fight that spawns more than 1
well yeah, especially on very hard it never made any sense to fight any catcher at all unless you're in a scripted boss fight because they're health sponges to such insane degrees in DS1 it's not even funny
I sometimes just wanted to do it for fun on hard
and I fucked around and found out that more than 1 can spawn
but it spawned 2 instantly
killed 1, ran out of blood bags, the other one was low HP, but I was also at 300 HP
so I just decided to get the fuck out of there lmao
though they become less of sponges when you unlock higher level hematics and rocket launchers
going in with just hematics and rifles is stupid
rifles don't do jack shit
but muh cargo
that's why I never fought them with cargo
I was always going after them when I made a delivery

also genuinely fuck carrying live humans through BT zones
if I ever replay DS1, I'm throwing the girlfriend of the guy who lives in the trashy place into the goddamn tar lake
ironically when I was carrying Mama, I managed to enter timefall areas multiple times and somehow avoided just about every heavy timefall area with BT zones.
Late game deliveries if you spend way too much time hoarding resources and five starring were like this for me tbh
I finished DS1 yesterday story wise and instantly hopped into DS2
I'll leave trying to 100% the game after DS2
I'll bet the return journey near the end of DS1 took some time for you then
That was the final pizza delivery in a nutshell
getting off the mountain was the slowest part.
DS1's mountains without ziplines... shudders
That's just it - you gotta connect them! The only ziplines I got that were actually pre-connected to anything were a few leading up from Mountain Knot towards Heartman
The graveyard-looking place north-east from Mountain Knot?
yup
That's PEAK zipline spot! You kidding me? It saves you from having to traverse that god forsaken spot!
Well, uh, yeah, you're never meant to leave the zipline there lmao
"Why yes I want to facehug that BT that's a few meters from me, why not?"
me when bored and no precious cargo but 50 hematic grenades on my back with 4 rifles
well that was until the moment I fucked around and found out that I was talking about earlier
I'm sure I'll get my revenge when I return to 5 star everything
rocket launchers my beloved
Was hoping that Death Stranding 2 wouldn't take long to introduce BTs again, but I was somewhat let down.
Not like they give any starter weapons to take them down.
But there are mule camps on every corner.
The first scripted fight against a massive BT was not fun
Died quite a few times on TTW

Surely it only gets easier from here when I unlock more weapons

Interesting.
While I did die to that first boss fight a few times, I came out of that experience thinking it was better balanced and more fun than anything in DS1. I thought so mostly because the boss was not as big a health sponge like DS1 bosses were (on Very Hard, which is what I compare TTW to), and also because it was the first time I ever actually NEEDED to use EX grenades to not instantly die after the boss stunlocks you and prepares its instakill animation - if you immediately equip and throw the EX grenade you might've picked up off the ground and throw it at its mouth, you actually get that split second you need to make it out alive. As soon as I recognized how that worked and how it let me survive the mistakes I made that caused me to get stunlocked to begin with... Whew. I had a blast.
It definitely was fun, and wasn't as spongey as I expected, it just was quite hard.
I think my biggest challenge facing the boss was latency itself tbh
Gotta use XeFG x2 on my handheld to get it to run at acceptable 60 FPS in most places.
And I can feel the latency
Hence why I probably missed quite a few grenades till I got more used to it.
I should also probably adjust my sensitivity settings because turning around and stuff is too slow
I couldn't turn around fast enough if the BT emerged right behind me.
Other than that, the change I appreciate the most is that now changing weapons and such is less stressful
Since the menu stays on rather than you needing to hold it.
Can't count how many times I've panic equipped something I don't need in DS1
||Its time to play the game and watch Sam cope with what happened to Lou||

Chapter 1 is quite long
Around 3 hours?
Or 10, if you take the time to five star all of Mexico before even finishing the chapter.
...Yeah.
Couldn't be bothered
there's already 1.3 out from april 9th wdym
We got 1.4 instead
any breaking changes for the mod? anyone checked?
No idea
so far looking good for me
I wonder if Lyall's fix for the game also still works.
Not the publicly released 0.0.4 version but rather the experimental 0.0.5, which is the only working fix for the stuttery/juddery cutscenes.
As expected since they updated something with FG
Guess no DS2 till it gets updated for me.

Well, uh, I mean... Can always "downgrade" from DLAA to something that'll help lighten the load like DLSS or even PICO for a while
I'm already playing on XeSS with XeFG x2
another update and still no fix for the cutscene judder
I can't believe this still hasen't been addressed
B580?!
Today's DF video on DS2 has shown that PICO itself might be pretty good actually, at least on par with FSR and XeSS if not as good as DLSS
nvm then lmao
So XeSS and XeFG
I don't think anything will rival DLSS anytime soon.
At least not DLSS 4/4.5
Though, my opinion might be slightly skewed
I didn't test PICO against XeSS enough to really see
They added extra sharpening settings in today's patch apparently, it might make a difference
@wet rivet sorry for the ping, just letting you know for when you have some time later on
I just fiddled with settings in the first area till I got to FPS that felt good for me and then just went on.
So I tested PICO and XeSS basically on the mountain with nothing in view, not even the slightest amount of foliage lmao.
better test again now in Australia
You're playing on handheld docked?
The screen supports HDR? Legion Go 2 or something?
Yup
Legion Go 2
Was looking at OLEDs, and the only 2 options were either this or steam deck
That's a chonker
And with aging hardware, I went with Legion Go 2
It is.
I use my stomach as a rest support
Can't really hold it up for long
Wrists and hands get uncomfortably sore.
I mean, it does weight quite a bit tbh.
I expected it to be heavy, but not that heavy.
In the words of that one famous anime:
Anyways, got something else to entertain myself with tonight which I also saw a HDR mod for.
Though, it baffles me just how many handhelds there are, and how many of them have OLED screens.
Grand total of 2 if I'm not wrong?
I don't know if Switch 2 is OLED or not, but I don't consider it as a handheld.
nope, it's LCD, and a dogshit one at that.
Wasn't Switch 1 OLED?
It is
But I've heard that the screen sucks.
Have you tried Lyalls fix?
Specifically, the experimental 0.0.5 version linked here:
https://www.nexusmods.com/deathstranding2onthebeach/mods/19?tab=posts&comment_id=167913944
will try and update tonight to fix fg again
The sdr eotf?
whatever they did in their update
their fg code doesn't really make sense to me
like I'd think that they were supposed to have 2 outputs
one with game scene + UI combined and another without UI
I can try changing it to that and see what happens
With and without UI... Maybe groundwork for supporting FG preset B?
it's the same as how nixxes handled fg before in spiderman remastered
I was actually confused as to how this game works weirdly enough with FG
The game runs smoothly at 60 FPS in some places for me
But whenever a tip pops up
Half of the game is weirdly stuttery around the tip message
The rest of game is still at 60 FPS
I think you're just seeing UI artifacts from FG
Could be but I doubt it
Split the screen in half
Game runs at 60 FPS with FG
Right side of the screen is at 60 FPS
Left side is at 40 FPS
Whenever a tip pops up
It'd make sense to try and run it in different layers though, no? Have the UI run at a different framerate, tied to its own unique layer. Or would that be too disruptive visually?
I'm not technical engineer, but what you're describing is exactly what I'm somewhat thinking is happening when something pops up on the left
The whole 50% of the left screen feels like it just kind of runs without FG whenever something is there
I might see if I can record it.
After I turned off FG everything became smooth again, even in cutscenes
but muh fake frames
Cutscenes stutter if they’re not at 30 or 60 base fps, framegen can interfere with that but is not inherently the cause.
When an update breaks RenoDX so I cope
using renodx is cheating
He knows nothing about HDR
you know nothing
Jep that guy is just ridiculous tbh
Wdym he fixed hdr /s
and it only took him 1 hour
updated for patch 1.4:
https://www.nexusmods.com/deathstranding2onthebeach/mods/8
Is this like crimson desert where it has benefits for SDR or is it purely for HDR users?
anybody have gotten dynamic fg working in the game?
Yes. You have to manually copy and overwrite Nvidia Streamline 2.11 DLL files you can find on the internet. You need to do this for every patch the game gets, as they get overwritten with the older versions that the game comes with.
With said updated streamline DLL files, you'll find dynamic MFG working as intended.
it will just show up as an option in the nvidia app then?
or do I still have to set it up through nvpi?
Originally I set it up via profile inspector, but later the nvidia app got updated with expanded dynamic MFG support for games which included Death Stranding 2. I opened it up and it just reflected the settings I already set in profile inspector.
Regardless, you still need to manually overwrite new Streamline dll files for it to even work at all.
alright thanks for the info
ofc the nvidia gh doesn't have the newest streamline dll lol
Obviously, Jensen wants you to work for that RTX 50 series exclusive feature, Paying out your ass isn't enough!
Man I keep redownloading this zip over and over, I'mma save it locally already
yeah I found this one, it's missing the interposer dll it seems
Oh, I didn't look into it that deeply, I can just say that overwriting everything in the game's root folder with everything from that zip did that trick
alright, lemme try
were there any issues with patch 1.4?
I played probably 10 hours on 1.4 and don't think I ran into any issues
Mod didn’t work with fg
Like completely non functional in game
ah that makes sense. I'm not using FG
btw, I just beat the game and had a great time. I was using the purist preset, and there are a lot of cutscenes in the final stretch and it looked great with the mod. Visually, the main issue I noticed was banding, and I think the SDR EOTF emulation made it more noticeable in some darker cutscenes towards the the ending. Of course the benefit of avoiding gamma mismatch is much more significant
but I wonder why there's so much banding here, I remember it being the same on ps5. I guess its just a characteristic of the game
What is the consensus around the Dlss preset to use? I’m using a 5070ti and 9800x3d and I find that preset L at 4K quality gives me an fps of 50-55, and I have to go to balanced to get a solid 60. Whereas Dlaa preset K gives me above 60. What’s the way to go here?
Personally I was using preset M for a while but just couldn’t stand the ambient occlusion noise and switched to pico
L is supposed to be for 4k on performance or even lower.
Anything higher than performance, and you're better off using M
I used Preset L on Quality. Gives me average of 110fps without fg
L is truely meant for ultra performance
M for performance
But the performance cost isn’t the same on every card
The 4090, 5080, and 5090 GPUs have significantly lower performance costs.
I slap L on a lot of games
Which gpu are you running on
Isn’t it the case that L is the best model overall but that Nvidia recommends it for Ultra Performance because that’s the mode that needs it most and the lower internal resolution offsets the cost of the model?
best is subjective, because L and M can fall apart pretty badly in certain scenes on games with RT due to how they interact with denoisers, but yeah, L is the heaviest model and that's where the ultra performance recommendation comes from
It definitely varies between games as Hitch said, I'd argue that there's no best or worst model because its all personal preference.
New models are definitely the best if you’re using hdr
In the games with RT where they’re bad you can usually disable denoisers with U+
And in games like DS2 RT isn’t even worth enabling imo
Its all personal preference.

You're welcome to disagree, but you're wrong.
sure man
Its all personal preference.
lol
Can't believe I have to explain what personal preference is, and how someone disliking something doesn't make it bad.

Grow up people
I don't care about you enough to look at your screenshots and justify your behaviour.

surprised to see that difference between M/L in those comparisons
Actually digital foundry recommends Pico for this game
their comparison/testing was super limited, PICO looks kind of ass in plenty of scenes, especially at longer distances
it's all whichever trade-offs you're happiest with at the end of the day
I wonder if I can find videos online about DLSS 4.5 presets being better for HDR-
...Oh.
my goat

Hardware unboxed guy reviews hdr monitors
and reccomends it
but apparently bro doesnt even play games HDR or something
M/L make highlights pop more but they are more expensive, more unstable in certain areas(especially when used with balanced and above) and have a slightly more aliased/sharpened look, K has less highlight pop but is more stable with cleaner image quality and is more performant
it's also just soft, smeary and horrible on volumetrics 🤷♂️
Ya
which again bring us to this comment, more true than ever, it depends on the game and your personal preference
I've even seen some games defaulting to J, like tlou part 2, K is omega ghosty on that game, again there isn't a silver bullet
Y'all are lucky to have options.
I'm stuck with either FSR 2 in most games or XeSS

At least you have both kidneys, we had so sell ours for the privilege of having those options
I mean
I did spend €1.2k on my handheld

So
Kind of similar boat?
The only flex I have here is 32gb of DDR5 with 8k speeds on that handheld

desolder those chips, sell them, and buy an ngreedia card, problem solved
your arms must be buff af i bet, some of those things are absolute units
Yeah, Legion Go 2 weights a shit ton
On the positive side, I'm fat and can use my stomach as a support
I didnt spend a dime for any RTX GPU, they keep their value and every 2 years I switch to latest model. Didn't spend anything on 3080, 3090, 4090, 5090, currently at positive balance even. That's actually the secret of being rich, all stuff you buy is rare enough it grows in value so you become even more rich by paying extra in the beginning. Clothes, jewelry, cars, electronics, you name it. World economics are stupid. Its almost impossible to actually spend money when you have a lot.
How the hell did you buy a 5090 without spending any money? a used 4090 can't possibly be worth 5090 money, it makes no sense
that's exactly what happened for me
bought my 4090 FE for shy of £1600, then sold it for £1700 a couple of years later and got a 5090 FE for £1800
who the fuck buys a used 4090 for 1700??? My god people are dumb as hell
they're going for £1800 - £2000 now lmao
I mean those are fouder's editions, they're the rarest, that makes some sort of sense I guess
in my country theres two 4090s used sold for 1600gbp, and one even at 1900gbp lolol
even tho theres 5080s being sold at 1000gbp
yeah, but they're also the cheapest MSRP, that's how I was able to all but swap over to a 5090, they were both FEs
scalpers make buying founder's editions at MSRP almost impossibile, how the hell did you manage that
joined a stock tracking Discord server and it pings you when stock is available
UK had a bunch of stock drops in the latter half of last year, so it wasn't so bad
got one the week after I decided to
seems like there's a FE drought this year, though
Need a phd just to buy a motherfucking GPU these days smh
Not as bad as it sounds, you may use discord, telegram, twitter bots. They are all very easily available and easy to set up for push notifications on your phone. You just need a desk or home office job and have all logins for the shops available and prepared already in order to be quick enough as bots tend to buy all stock very quick. It doable and if it works you get 4k path tracing gaming which costs you almost nothing.
Bought my 4090 back in Oct 2022 for 1.9usd. Sold it for 1.6usd last year in feb 2025. Dont know if the price is right but the one who bought my 4090 was the shop I where I got my 5090.
Kind of a trade-im
