I had a crazy idea seeing how bad everything is in the render pipeline. The game look weirdly blurry yet over sharpened, so my tought was the dev looked at the game saw noise everywhere decided to blur the whole rendered frame to mask noise, but since now it looked blurry they just applied a forced sharpening effect. i have optiscaler setup with reno right now and it works. read the optiscaler instructions. rename the optiscaler.dll to dxgi.dll and optiscaler.ini dxgi=false then load reshade=true
rename renodx own dxgi.dll to Reshade64.dll
not sure if thats correct but it works for me

Optiscaler doesn't enable more than x2 fg for non-supported cards. You need dlss enabler for that. It comes with optiscaler as well tho so you get it anyway.

@languid sleet my suggestion would be to lower the game brightness and let your eyes get used to it. You'll think it looks better if you give it like 5-10 min. Try like 150 or something around there.

Thanks, I'm going to give it a go. When I calibrate my monitor, the symbol disappears at 500 so I'm assuming 500 is my peak brightness, and I should make my "game brightness" setting much less than that like you're suggesting, right?

Sorry to ask, but can someone explain what using output scaling in Optiscaler is supposed to do in this game?
It's for sure a rendering artefact of some kind. When I entered the vicinity it covered the whole area and rescinded gradually in a uniform line into the cliff edge. I run into it once before in the same area but it was night time and it was red.

In game HDR is on? You also need to adjust your monitors peak hdr brightness in the settings for renodx

Here is a short video taken with the Nvidia App. 4K HDR with the renodx mod and others like the camera mod. That is on a 4090/7950X/32GB DDR5 6000 https://youtu.be/xmPqgGERM34 The juddering you see or frame skips when panning the camera is due to youtube's compression. It does not do that in game. The panning is smooth.

I tried testing pretty much all the Presets in Special K for Crimson Desert, none of them did anything, just made the game feel choppy for some reason.

Windows treating HDMI like a second class citizen. My C2 is HDMI only (obviously) but no matter what you do, even if its set as the primary in Windows, its labeled "2" in windows when my secondary is plugged in. I run them both at 120hz to minimize issues.

Yeah, that's not going to work correctly.
Reflex will always limit your framerate to 116 FPS.
NVIDIA assumes games are always running on the primary monitor, and that winds up being the framerate limit used in any Reflex game.
The limit would be 224 FPS if your secondary monitor were set to primary instead.

Yes, primary according to Windows.
Primary monitor is technically the monitor with the coordinates (0,0) on the desktop.
Changing the primary monitor in Windows settings just moves the monitors around to put the one that's primary at (0,0).

If Reflex is set to Low Latency and VSYNC is on, it's going to use your primary monitor's refresh rate, and you may lose your mind trying to figure out why the game won't go above 116 FPS 😕

Yeah I was just lamenting on how HDMI connected displays (like my primary C2) always seem to play second fiddle as soon as you connect anything with DisplayPort in regards to that number they're given. Also fun when half the time things like my boot animation and BIOS open on my secondary vertical DP monitor. Have to remember to unplug it if I want to guarantee it shows up on my primary display.

alright well, after a scary black screen we have the new option
Basically it is a kind of a fake psydo-supersampling that surprisingly works well for this game, at-least for me (im on 1440p). What it does is taking the upscaling resolution say I choose to play DLSS Q on a 1440p is like 960p than it takes this 960p upscales it to 8K (7680 x 4320) than fit it into my mon res 1440p which results in a clear sharp image and mitigate motion blur completely and it looks subjectivly identical to DLAA (again thats for me, I made before after screenshot and it looks the same). Now when I run the tree and mountain in the distance looks as if Im standing static as intended. I’m probably coping with a 5090 lol that its all fake and shit but hey DLSS and GF are also fake
DLDSR definitely looks better than native if you drop DLSS to the same performance but it's not a big difference

Automatic brightness limiter. Oled panels will lower brightness when a large percentage of the screen is showing a bright shot. For example looking at a bright sky may trigger ABL depending on your monitor or Tv. Newer brighter Tvs dont have as much of an issue with this. This cannot be shown in screenshots.
I got no black flickering bar on top of my screen after playing for some time but I did get a large black artifact when placing the flag thing in the camp

Pushing P5 cut my fps by like 40% and added 15ms of latency brinign me up to 20 from 5. Doing just the full pass maybe added a half a ms, so probably will keep that. Not sure if it looks better or not haha. Compression in this game isnt too bad compared to like AC Shadows or KCD2 for me

I don’t actually, I’m using a 4090. That’s a wild difference in performance. I can maintain a stable 85fps on p5, I experimented last night with p4 and it was actually not very discernible visibly compared to p5, but it cut latency further

that will never work through a screenshot, but what monitor do you have? Also the in-game settings (other than UI brightness) don't work when using Reno. You can (and shoudl) just run the HDR calibration tool first. Reno will pull from that.

Just a note as well, learning as we speak that Apollo only supports 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, and AV1 albeit having better details also does not do 4:4:4 under any circumstance right now. HEVC can do HDR, 4:4:4 chroma subsampling (via sunshine, not Apollo).

Your LG C1 is 700-800nits, not 1000 (10% window). I don't know about AW2725D but AW2725DW is ~450.

The problem is that the QoL of virtual display in headless mode in Apollo just matches refresh rate and resolution requested by the client, and it recognizes your client independent of your primary monitor allowing you to manually calibrate hdr for the client rather than being reliant on the monitor connected to your pc

I believe color grading is preference. I was messing with exposure as other people with my same monitor had increased it a bit. Was messing around with it before

what kind of cable are you using? Is it HDMI over fiber, or just a "standard" HDMI cable that has fiber inside? When you mention USB/HDMI, do you mean both HDMI and USB signals travel through the same cable?
I'm asking because I'm planning to run fiber from my PC in the office to the TV in the living room. From what I've seen the best approach seems to be a dedicated fiber cable with HDMI ends, plus a separate Ethernet cable with a USB-over-Ethernet hub but maybe theres a better way to do it

They do need a bit of a boost. I've been running a separate Reno profile for nights, it really was too dark

I've seen recommendations to keep post processing and even volumetric clouds to medium/minimum.
Post processing at medium gives you lens flares back that's all I know
But other than that they seem to be causing more issues than good idk
