Your absolute peak should be 2200 nits unmodded, but yes 1800 sounds about right
the reason for that is that there isn't all that much detail in all games that would warrant going up to 2000. sometimes you don't get that much past 1000 anyway, and some games really like to blast big surfaces with big bright
so depends on the game. it can get value from 2000 peaks in a lot of games, but a lot of those are also pushing it to the limit. while others actually have very little detail beyond 1000 or more
damn it, the vanilla preset button sets flame saturation to the wrong thing
Nioh 3’s in game slider max is 1000 but with Reno you can push past that. Not much details beyond 1000 though just brighter

@vivid iris unless it wasn't clear. acesv2 scales exposure based on peak nits, to reduce range and therefore, more SDR like. so it's impossible to get a "perfect" exposure

Hammon has multi scatter compensation which makes it brighter but for games with RT/PT it goes overboard (it is more useful for raster based games)
EON has better maths and is more physically correct to the scene and across all scenes (it was built around RT/PT in mind)
Their base Burley has a highlight booster as well which adds more energy in places it shouldnt whilst various grazing angles lose all energy compared to EON

Interestingly, 'HDR Peak 1000' isn't the brightest HDR mode in all scenarios. Except for very small highlights, the 'DisplayHDR True Black' Smart HDR mode is actually brighter. However, during real scene testing, 'DisplayHDR True Black' brightness is 382 cd/m², while 'HDR Peak 1000' brightness is 407 cd/m². You can see this in more detail below:

alright, VERY new to the world of HDR in general, literally never enabled it before. Should I be setting the peak brightness in the Reno sliders to my *monitors * peak brightness? Ive got an Acer Predator x34 OLED, i dont even know what the peak brightness is, seeing mixed things online, but before i installed Reno, the HDR settings in game would clip at like 470 on that slider.

there aren't. RR is it's own DLL and does the denoising and DLSS together. DLSS is a speperate DLL that doesn't even activate when you have RR on, that is why changing the super sampling presets doesn't do anything with RR on. Hope that makes sese

a picture might not be enough, need to see this in motion myself but now I know what to look for. There were certainly many times in the game where looking at the ground felt too dim compared to how bright the sky was. I hope this balances it. also I might point out, the shadows on the right look more crushed with eon I'm an idiot my windows was in SDR mode let me look agian.
Ok i can resolve detail in HDR on the right side shadows, but should it be this dark? it's barely visible.
just a heads up, my opinion of course but RR mainly makes a big difference indoors, which is not a place where youre gonna be very often in CD. dont stress it too much, games is stunning without RR as well

Sometimes people change to "preset E" within that RR branch, but I haven't tested that in this game and there are mixed results in others

I have best results with RR off, all settinmgs Cinematic (performance impact isnt very big anyways) except lighting which is Ultra. Then ideally I'd use DLAA + 2x FG but DLAA has the weird glitch still so I'm at quality. on top of that using Immerse Clarity and Sharpening reshades

stamina and if unsure health, then i would go for magic upgrades. grapple upgrades for the memes

I suspect they ctrl c + ctrl v'ed the sun code but then changed the functions and texture to use the moon instead
however they still kept the same min(1e+06f, _precomputedAmbient7.x) so the moon uses sun values

yeah im sure they want to keep the their name of being the if not one of the top dogs, and they're in a comfortable position to do so as well. the releasing on consoles first only helps them establish that goal, because of how consoles are rather a fixed component used rather than pcs being all these random variables and such. and then when they properly polish on consoles as it'll be an easier task, any errors on pc will just be brushed over for the most part if that makes sense since everyone will be saying gta 6 is the most amazing and optimized game

AWB is tied to auto exposure histogram, it massively hue shifts or corrects using histrogram data

Ha, as I'm sitting here reporting a weird behavior in AWB, I found a new (seemingly base-game) issue
Still happens with renodx preset set to off. Goes away as soon as I move the camera. Seems to be caused by idling the game for a while, maybe during loss of focus (I was typing in here). No biggy, I've never seen anything like this during actual gameplay, and doesn't seem to be caused by reshade/reno

imo in the dark it is broken, light cast by the lantern in dark caves sometimes totally fucks up and the walls starts looking like a pink and white parallax

Game packed AWB in g_exposureUAV[6] (= _exposure1.z) that is then read by CalcualteManyLights local light shader. Hero lights are negative encoded.
I zeroed this write which causes the hero light to turn off. I have a way to remove the AWB and I will add hero lights as a separate slider
