But I overall like 200 nits for most SDR stuff.

I play games with 200 nits game brightness, but I find desktop stuff eye searing at 200+, so keep it at 5/100

I ended up skipping most of those encounters because they were just annoying

Sh2r was kinda similar, but it felt better and was more responsive. Killing enemies was unfortunately very formulaic, they didnāt have movesets that made combat interesting at all.
Thereās a lot more going on here, but it feels so ass to play I simply canāt enjoy it.

Every enemy has dark souls ass windup, input buffering is seconds long, stamina management feels awful, itās just not working for me.

Story difficulty lets you recover both Health and Sanity at a Hokora (shrine) without using Faith (gained from trading in collectables). In other difficulties you'll need to use Faith and consumables to recover Health and Sanity.
Max Sanity will not decrease when attacked while using Focus in Story mode to deal extra damage. In other difficulties, max Sanity will be lowered if you're attacked while using Focus.
Being grabbed in Story mode will not decrease your max Sanity, but it will in other difficulties.
there are some gameplay differences but yeah probably mainly hp bloat

I'm indifferent on the combat overall, but it's very video gamey and so I don't find myself getting immersed as much as I like to with these kinds of games

it's both super easy and tediously annoying at times

I've heard that story is very easy and default setting should be set to hard but it's too hard sometimes
I think the best way to go is for stamina, it ends so fucking fast and when u get hit cuz it ended sometimes hurts a lot

i started a new game with story combat and the game is now too easy lol. i had a ton of healing items. enemies werent as agressive and gives you more time to do focus attacks.

Silent Hill f on PC has major crashing problems on GeForce 5090s. You may have read that to "fix" it you need to reinstall your GPU driver ... every time the game crashes. Or reboot your PC. Kinda sucks.
I found another solution that's much easier and way faster ...

right after that scene, goes back into the village, then the skin tone is still red-ish like that
when i turned mod HDR into the most left option, the skin is back to normal. but, the dark areas became like the default again grey-ish

This is with the vanilla+, you can see that there is a slight red tone in the skin color

The game is good and is well, hard on hard difficulty but the problem it's that it's not scary at all, i'm at the end and never saw even one scary moment

I don't think that's the case here really, though. Slow motion perfect dodges, parries and special attacks don't make me feel fearful of combat or stripped of any power, they make me feel like a regular action video game character

wait, did you actually beat the game? I'd agree if it were a normal horror game where you only fight occasionally and don't run into that many enemies. But later on they throw so much at you that it basically turns into a heavy action game
u can go to drivers folder and delete shaders...
There's a mod that fixes that by giving you more freedom

I was having an issue where there were flashing red lights everywhere which usually is a sign of a dying GPU
I tried multiple things and it kept occuring. Reinstalling the driver fixed it immediately.

My first crash was immediately after installing the renodx mod
apparently HDR analysis shaders causes crashing
Reinstalling driver fixed it
and I can confirm, after removing the shader I had 0 crashes
I noticed after installing renodx the game started precompiling extra shaders on startup
I had crashes even after a clean driver install on my 5090
just in case it keeps happening if you have shaders installed try removing them first
from reshade I mean
My 2nd issue wasn't even a crash it was the flashing red lights
fixed that with another reinstall

and then I had a random issue with crashing after rebooting into the game after playing a full day without an issue

We opted for a simple solution: we remapped the HDR tonemapped output to approximately match the SDR tonemapped output.

At Sucker Punch, weāve attempted to emulate the Rec. 709 OETF since Infamous 2, by using the consoleās video-out hardware to apply a gamma curve to our sRGB output signal. However, the PS4 supports the automatic conversion of sRGB signals to the exact Rec. 709 OETF, so we decided to switch to that for these patches ā following the standard more precisely seemed like a good idea!
The switch resulted in deeper blacks, which we thought looked good in the test scenes we examined on our TVs. However, after we shipped the patches, we heard reports from some users about ācrushed blacks,ā so we decided to investigate. It turned out that the TVs we were using for testing produced lighter blacks than the TVs some of our users were using. This, combined with the darker Rec. 709 OETF, resulted in much deeper blacks than we intended on some TVs.
While the Rec. 709 standard specifies a precise OETF, it admits (in a footnote) that in practice the OETF is adjusted to achieve the desired output when viewed on a TV conforming to BT.1886. (Scott Miller from Dolby claims that the actual Rec. 709 OETF is rarely used in practice ā at least in film and television.) As can be seen in the graph above, the Rec. 709 OETF significantly darkens dark colors when combined with the BT.1886 EOTF, so before adopting the Rec. 709 OETF, make sure that this combination works well with your content. For our games, we ended up issuing a new patch with a contrast option that allowed users to switch to the old (sRGB-based) OETF curve.

with new documents to read and other rooms that was locked during 1st ng
and you unlock new difficulty for combat, but all depends if you liked the game enough and if you're satisfied with the 1st ending i guess

Itās not just launching games either. I play mostly The Crew Motorfest from Ubisoft, but own it on Steam. Semi-recently there was a year 2 pass (some cars, new gamemodes, price was not an issue). The purchase went through on Steamās end, but Ubisoft launcher just wouldnāt recognize that I own it. Their support was also just a daisychain of AI agents that kept passing me around to the point that Steam just refunded me even though I was waaay over the playtime limit.
Itās ridiculous how many issue their launcher has. I cannot imagine it is profitable, and if so it canāt actually be worth it compared to just paying steam their cut and letting them handle the purchase and launching of their games.
Which they do anyway because I imagine a fair share of users already buy their games on Steam.

i installed FSR 4 in DL. The Beast without the optipscaller and it even shows in the game menu i have FSR 4.02 now , u can change in game from FSR 2.4 - 3.15 and 4.02 u have all in the in game menu, without needing to use the Optiscaller.

Vanilla is just the regular film grain which afaik is just there in the title screen and thatās it. Perceptual is shortfuseās film grain. I have it apply everywhere
They apply the film grain on highlights and not just dark regions which isnāt how film grain works

and the combat could be fixed if they moved a single thing from NG+ to NG (rabbit charm for counting out of perfect dodges)
then IMO find some way to speed up getting the NG++ ending by skipping sections

I like to use prods filmic tonemap sometimes to give it that extra HDR punch (with 1.3 linearity it's not too harsh)

Interesting I had it locked to 60 at first than to 80 and had near zero stutter traversal or otherwise in both cases. But you have to keep motion blur enabled to prevent the graphical glitches
Man, how you managed to achieve zero stutters is a mystery to me. I don't think it is even possible tbh, been trying anything and the only way to mitigate the traversal was locking the game to 60. Even Alex of DF couldn't eliminate the stutters. Actually there are some area I can even replicate the visible Shader Comp. Stutter (I also play on an high end system: 5090/9800X3D)
Locking to 60 made it almost entirely stutter free for me as well on Linux

fossilize is only when you do background shader compilation, isn't it?
GPL using ACO (mesa's AMD shader compiler) is insanely fast

it was only stuttering during the first combat encounter

I got hdmi black screen dropouts on any driver since September (581.X), it got so bad it started happening on 580.X drivers as well which were fine before. After yet another ddu i went back to 572.83 (march) and continued playing on that since then, good performance no stutter no gsync flickers and I just don't see a reason to even attempt updating anymore
it was dropping signal on both my C2 and S95F but now it's fine again on this old driver and it runs nice too 
Not even a 60 lock, ingame fps unlocked, but locked to 80 in nvcpl and vsync off, no issues. If there was any traversal stutter at any point it must have been so minor I don't remember it, basically it was not affecting my experience

Why would it be dropping signal on C2 as well? But yeah, its very likely. Its like it kept talking to it even when it was off and it kept detecting/redecting it, resetting the driver, that was my suspicion as well

The game has more stutters in later areas, I'm having traversal stutters more often now
Quite possible Linux makes it better?
Proton fixes Elden Ring stutters for example
But game's UE5.4 IIRC so traversal stutters should be minimal

Sometimes it might skip a shader or 2 lol
I swear, the last 5 years or so, mostly because of UE, PC gaming has been hideously infected with the "stutter virus"!
