#Red Dead Redemption 2
1 messages Ā· Page 2 of 1
Yeah, I've seen that. Probs down the road.
BF6 in two days, it's the only game I'll be playing for a while until Arc Raider.
And some SHf and stuff on sides, and Cronos.
BO7 all the way for me, I will be there 8 hours per day
It appears that the High Dynamic Range (HDR) implementation in Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be true HDR.

2018
rockstar didnt even bother to add HDR to gta 5 enhanced
which i guess is because GTA 5 E&E console HDR isnt even real hdr, i think youve said its auto-hdr or something
yeah, hdr is fake on console gta5, but i don't know if it's fake here too
This was before they patched it
Before it was just sdr in an hdr container but also gamma mismatch
It may have also still had the fucked up stuff with the linear lut input
Preset J>K for DLAA too imo
Makes more sense when you realize that quality is actually 44% of the original pixel count
The massive jump from quality to DLAA in terms of pixel count is a bizzare choice by Nvidia
@white oyster @river willow I'm trying RDR2 in DirectX because when @flint crater will be done with the Mod I wanna do a new play through...But compared to Vulkan it has some micro stutters, I can't believe!
I don't understand what could be cause in Vulkan was running super smooth
so for me
the cause was related to vsync, nvidia reflex, and triple buffering
try turning all 3 off
theres a bug with one of hte settings in vulkan i think
@lime lintel if its not one of those 3 i think i have some other stuff i tried, i dont fully remember how i fixed it
None of these worked. I tried also to clean the shaders cache and DirectX cache
make sure your low latency mode is set to off and vsync is set to application controlled in nvidia app/control panel for rdr2
and do u have any mods @lime lintel
the stutter fix mod might help
No Mod, but it's crazy that I need a mod for the stutters, come on!
If you are playing with a capped framerate, i'd turn reflex off. If playing on gsync/vrr you can turn off triple buffering. Those 2 settings reduced any micro stutters i;d get
u shouild be able to fix it without any mods, for me it was some weird settings for triple buffering or something
do u use gsync/freesync?
I'm capped at 120 and reflex is off
also, check in controls-mouse and keyboard, try changing mouse input to directinput
make sure vsync and triple buffering are off
Gsync always on as default
and also off in nvdia control panel for rdr2
I tried nothing changed
are u capping fps in nvidia control panel or how
In the game, I put refresh rate 120, is it capping it?
so, it wont cap it unless vsync is turned on
and i wanted to test with vsync off cuz thats how i fixed stuter
in the nvidia control panel app, you can set a max frame rate
thats where id set it
u can do it globally or per game
i globally cap it to my monitors refresh rate
lower per game if i want
Ok, I will put my 120 right now
also try setting borderless windowed mode in game
test with triple buffering off, but try with vsync on and off, see if either is better
lots of ppl online say triple buffering is the problem
i reccomend checking in nvidia control panel and turning that off, too, if its on
should be off both ingame and in the control panel, vsync set to application controlled in control panel, on/off ingame
All combinations tried and micro stutters still there
I wanna try again Vulkan now and check for confirmation
Crazy, Vulkan zero stutters and zero texture breaking from far
do you have texture mods?
thats your problem
DX12 does not suipport texture mods for rdr2
TTO, etc are unsupported cuz of issues with memory allocation on dx12
As long as the textures are compressed correctly, I believe dx12 can work with texture mods. Still more prone to crashing than vulkan tho
I have no mods, zero. But with directx I see some texture loading delay too together with some micro stutters
What res do u play at?
4k
i was able to fix my microstutter on dx12 with the triple buffering and shit so idk
fair. i was gonna say red dead 2 wont load max quality textures at res below 1440
All settings are maxed and injected DLAA (which I tried to disable in DirectX)
Dx12 has an animation stutter issue iirc. Even if your frametimes are perfectly smooth it looks bad
I've tried everything, literally everything and I can't get rid of the microstutters. I give up. @flint crater I'm willing to sacrify 3 lambs for a Vulkan Mod š
I feel like thereās a chance it could go away at 60hz vsync
If that wouldnāt resolve it, I doubt anything will
You know what, I wanted to try it...Then I thought, seriously should I cut my frame in half to get DirectX working?! And didn't even try it
I donāt think I tried it either lol
I know I tried a 60 fps cap back in the day though
Which did not fix it alone
i have the same problem has you
with dx12
idk how to get vulkan working is the issue
I would have done vulkan in the first place since there are texture mods that need it

I've had that on and off. It's definitely a situational game bug
I'm sure, but I can't get out fo it š¤·āāļø
i had a regular "tick" small stutter every second or so, that was fixed by increasing texture budget
Any mod to fix the stutter?
I found this, also they apparently broke the game kn one update and it was fine at launch bruh
Had the same in Cyberpunk and was coming after like 5/6 hours of playtime. Used to Fix it by restarting my PC
This one looks more like a traversal stutter rather than that
it can help a bit but ths mostly helps stuter when the vram limit is exceeded, if u use texture mods
idk if itll help with the dx12 stuttering
for me, disabling triple buffering fixed the dx12 stutteriong
but that doesnt fix it for everyone apparnetly
time to patreon it then
would rather wait for the remaster to come out
then maybe it'll have better stability
they're probably porting gta6 code
Hi folks, considering that the plan is to wait for the remaster, is it a good idea to start a playthrough with the current beta? I'm aware i need to rebind the reshade key, but any other problems to be aware of?
if you don't get a crash on startup then you're good to go
its gonna be the same thing in the final release
there are some shaders in the dump that I haven't done yet but they seem unused anyway
afaik game is playable front to back without issue if you can get past that initial loading screen without a crash
what remaster
Great, thanks!
At this point I'm hoping Rockstar just gives RDR2 the GTA5 treatment with RT and FG etc etc, just porting to Switch 2 and higher fps on console was not the droid I was looking for
If they add RT Global Illumination this game would be insane. Let's see, some people speculate gonna be by the end of this month
Which Rockstar would call a remaster
Fuck that tbh
Is there any patreon only reno mods?
Does the game even need rtgi? The gi solution is pretty robust as is. I'd rather they give us rt reflections. Thats the only major visual blemish left on the current release. SSR and planar reflections look good static, but as soon as your character is in motion you can break it pretty easy. Also I wonder if rtgi will affect the grading of the scenes
RT shadows would probably look pretty nice with all the foliage as well tbf
100% it doesn't need, but for sure it would benefit from a more accurate simulation of light. Reflections, shadows and occlusions would be great, but for reflections only I don't think it is necessary TBH. With that said, the art direction was not meant to be with RT in mind, but if you look at some examples like Metro Exodus or even the GTA5 update...They improved a lot! It is tricky with RDR2 I surely agree
no
we have an early access channel that some stuff gets pushed to, but it's not really like planned early access period or w/e
there are degenerates who bundle reno in their garbage patreon only reshade sdr presets
but nothing officially exclusive
ahh
ic alr
Just existing mods right not real stuff
Like cyberpunk ultra realistic preset !!!!!??!?
With old cyberpunk reno bundled in
LOL IC XD
Also GTA5s RT implementation is insanely performant for AMD, even under RDNA 2 on PS5. As RdR2 has a fair bit of higher hardware requirements it's probably still feasible even for AMD GPU users to enable some effects. I see a great fit. Water reflections and sun/moon shadows & occlusion would be plenty and a great addition as just those tend to fall behind of the otherwise great lighting.
can't wait for the hypothetical PC upgrade to take an extra few years to materialise
I donāt crash
No problems for me
Itās been awesome
Nah for Rdr2 it would drop at the same time on PC
Cuz weāve already seen the steam store page description get updated 3 weeks ago
Same thing happened to oblivion remaster 1-2 months before reveal
Honestly if they drop some graphical improvements for PC it would be the best gift of the season ngl
i think its fairly possible
im really hoping we hear something soon'
we know it exists
it leaked from xbox court documents last year
rdr2 gen9 console edition
if they can port RTGI and other ray tracing features to GTA 5 with its 2013 RAGE engine idk why they cant port it to RDR2s 2018 engine version even easier
Rockstar giveth and rockstar taketh. Let's see what this hypothetical update breaks as well
If they could ditch Vulkan, that'd be awesome
Why would it be awesome?
Vulkan is a pita, means more maintenance and if they were to bring extra features like FG, would make feature parity a pain with the lack of vk support from FSR4 Upscaling and XeFG
So no more Vulkan ? I truly wish for it
I don't think they'd scrap all the work they did on the Vulkan version, just to add frame gen. Easy way to piss off users.
They might make it a separate release like v:de so users don't get forced over to dx
Actually that seems unlikely if they're updating the steam page for the regular version
All I hope is this cursed API won't cripple that fabled upgrade
No, that will ruin any texture mods
DX12 in Rdr2 has problems lmao
More problems than Vulkan
Modders would finally work on dx12 textures then, some mods do work
Itās not possible dude. Thereās a problem with the texture allocation in DX 12 in red dead 2, where if you go over the default vanilla memory limits the game just breaks
Plus thereās a micro stutter bug on DX 12 that randomly affects some people and makes the game feel really sluggish and laggy to play
Cock* won't
So it's up to the modders
idk if modders or even rockstar can fix it
but then again rockstar hasnt even fixed the keyboard input lag delay (which they can totally do) so maybe rockstar can fix it and just havent bothered
I saw their source code comments
Rock* GPs are jokers
If they ditch Vulkan I can't play it, cause In DirectX I just get micro stutters all over the place and I've not been able to fix it. So, let's hope not!
rdr2 remastered, only $999.999
Inb4 a repeat of GTA and we get console exclusive rt for god knows how long
well we already saw the rdr2 steam page update a few weeks ago
hinting that this new port/patch would be on pc too
It would be nonsense thinking otherwise...
well
it wouldnt exactly be unprecedented, though
it took 3 years to get gta 5 enhanced (PS5 upgrade) to come to PC
which is asinine
If they do it i'm gonna riot! I'll open a server "Uprising RDR2 mobs"
"Magicians For Sport". During this mission the mod disabled itself for me, and the games native HDR took over. After I completed the mission and restarted the game, the mod was working again.
This happened to me twice during this mission, I wanted to see if the issue would re-create itself so the first time I closed the game and tried the mission again.
Do you have a save file with the mission available to play
Unfortunately not and I'm way past that mission now. I do have other mods installed though, and I'd like to see if this happens to anyone else.
I have a couple shaders that I have to do but have been too lazy to get to so I likely have the necessary shader. Just need to do it
@flint crater I just started that mission via the replay feature to double check and it seemed to work fine on my end, but here's a save if you wanted to see for yourself (the mission is in chapter 3)
Does Lilium black level floor fix support Vulkan for this game? @flint crater
idk i assume reshade shaders would work the same
Do you think that matching SDR could bring any benefit to the current HDR?
that's what the mod is doing
you can't match sdr with reshade shaders
since they do some cursed stuff where they use the wrong encoding for the color grading LUTs
the stronger the grading is during a scene the more off the hdr is
I see, so no way for me to improve anything
i prefer sdr to the game's vanilla hdr
Yes
BFF helps get some colour back into the HDR image compared to the stock HDR
I will try it out then, how did you set it?
Use the black floor emulation and make sure paper white in the shader settings matches your game settings
I'm using 240 (which is bad) because otherwise there are no colors š¬
You mean processing cut off?
Yhhh couldn't remember what it was exactly called
What's your paper white?
I play at 1000 peak / 200 pw
200 only?
200 is too bright for me
To my eyes the paper white settings seems to be affecting colors too. Am I faded?
its a brightness slider that just multiplies the rgb values
i guess perceptually brighter colors can appear more saturated
but also having a higher paper white means you have less room for highlights
so with per channel tonemapping those get more desaturated and hue shifted
@flint crater I've enabled SDR black floor emulation, but I see black crashing actually @river willow
The game is pretty crushed with 2.2 gamma in sdr too
HDR tonemapper actually adds a little more contrast compared to the SDR one
So once you add the 2.2 emulation to hdr it becomes even more crushed than SDR
My recommended settings in the mod have shadows raised to 55 I think
Yes, so you were right, at least to my eyes the Black Floor Fix worsen the image quality
Better to play in sdr imo
i can't get reshade to even show on red dead
i've changed the keybind and everything
like fresh install, deleted everything before, changed the keybind in the ini, set the dxgi to read only just in case and nothing
okay didn't realize i had to change the graphics api lol
i just figured dx was default
i got the reshade menu to show up now but the game is crashing with the following error
will try this mod
man i gotta download some goofy ass mod loader and a bunch of other pointless mods nvm

@river willow & @white oyster what di you think about this post which is claiming that those solutions can 100% solve the DirectX stutters? Should I try those things out?
I don't think any of that is necessary. Maybe power throttling change might help. But the launch commands and memory pool won't do much imo. But you can try them. May work on your hardware š¤·
Besides the mod those seem like a complete joke
I use a stutter fix mod and it's perfect on my end
The first one is actually even suggested by Rockstar, I've checked it
I was skeptical too
Guys it is better but Fuck, still some micro stutters every now and then. Can't believe I can't get rid of that, I'm fuming!
Do you still get micro stutter if you run with a FPS cap?
Should I force it in Nvidia Panel?
Nothing to do, even by locking the FPS to 120 still micro stutters
Can you show the graph?
Which graph you need?
Never tried the launch arguments or that mod and I fixed the stutter on dx12, shouldnāt be necessary
Forgot about that new one. How's it even look?
Pretty comprehensive
if you put in expert mode or whatever its called, also just has basic fps counter functionality
I will check it out shortly then, didn't know about it
How do I remove the Rockstar Overlay which is conflicting with any activity I do with the Steam overlay? In the Rockstar Launcher itself I don't find any option to toggle
Change whatever key you are using to toggle steam fps counter to something different than the rockstar ui key?
Arenāt those source engine launch commands?
-cpuLoadRebalancing is the only one I saw on the pcgw page. Im not sure what it does tbh
I'm not sure
stops an individual core from getting maxed out and spiking, but it was a launch issue and got patched ages ago, so the launch command shouldn't matter anymore
"We have identified an issue with certain NVIDIA graphics card drivers that cause significant stalls of several seconds on systems with 4-core and 6-core CPUs," the statement related to stuttering reads. "While we work with NVIDIA to improve driver performance, a temporary work around can be added to the launch arguments of the game to re-balance workload on the CPU cores and avoid the conditions that cause this issue."
that quote from R* was from 2019
Ah
So, I'll get rid of them then
Shouldn't be an issue for modern platforms. Late AM4 6 cores run this game fine. Idk about quad cores though
But tbh. I ran this game off a i5 4590 and a 1060 at 1080p mostly fine back when it came out initially on pc
Can you guys spot the stutters?
@white oyster, @river willow @glacial berry i stutter when I see it deeps the low around 30/40s
Left is average. Middle is lows and right is highs?
yh
The engine doesn't like going above 188 fps frametimes so that's a start
how is it if you cap it at a stable framerate, e.g. 60? Even on a 5090 I just run RDR2 capped at 60FPS for the sake of smoothness
Yeah they're obvious even in recordings
Try changing in game refresh to 60 plus vsync on
reflex off if on nvidia
triple buffering on
triple buffering causes a microstutter on dx12 for me
Zero stutter like that
I'm using borderless fullscreen with reflex on at 120Hz with a 60FPS cap and it's fine
It pisses me off to cap at 60 when I can get 120 on Vulkan FFS. Why this even happen?!?
Vulkan Voodoo Magic
On Vulkan I max the game out in 4k injecting DLAA and it is buttering smooth
Removing triple buffering it is 60 extra smooth, I've got some little improvements too. Still 60 though
@flint crater is the mod working fine now if I try running it?
it doesnāt work for some people but idk why
Let me try
its my understanding its just not possible to make the mod work on vulkan at all, right?
ya only dx12
Musa was clear with me that it could not
No decompiler for vulkan. so at the moment not possible.
we have a decomp but it just isn't working right
It is working just fine with me
so sad
maybe one day
i dont assume a rdr2 re-release (like gta 5 enhanced) would help at all, right?
remaster incoming apparently
what is working
100%, any day now tbh
i hope it has much better built in upscaling and frame gen and fixes the blurriness
I wonder if they'll still even support vulkan with the remaster
i cant imagine them ditching vulkan with how broken dx12 is for some stuff
like dont most texture mods break with dx12
microstutter bug
etc
It might be like gta 5, where we get the legacy version for vulkan
but the next gen will be dx12 only
What is Vanilla+? @flint crater
is gta 5 enhanced dx12 only? huh i didnt even know that
legacy version was just the old gta 5 version renamed
it wasnt a "new" version that still used vulkan
so it had no extra bug fixes, etc
id hope they keep the old version around, but idk, gta 5s was moslty kept for Fivem
upgraded version of the SDR tonemapping
No Im just saying that it will be renamed to legacy or whatever. We get a whole sepearte page in library for next gen
its possible yeah, hard to know tho
they changed the description on the steam page for rdr2 a few weeks ago so maybe they make a new page or just edit the existing one
@flint crater does the Mod completely override the in-game settings or should I set them to some specific value?
overrides them
But I should still enable hdr in game and set it to "Game" mode, I assume?
just enable hdr, doesn't matter if you set game or cinematic
Thanks. Just got the game via the steam sale. I earlier played it on my ps4, and now I'm on linux. Excited for this playthrough!
@flint crater i can finally see some colors
The most visible difference is that the sun is not blown out
I think nighttime is where Reno shines. You get those blue night skies. Something the regular HDR plus bff struggles to retain
Plus saint Denis at night looks lovely with Reno. Those electric lights really pop
I''ve just seen the night and it's another game!!! My 4th play through is confirmed!!!!
I get pretty much dead flat frametimes even while running in SD uncapped
That's not normal
You are also 5090 & 9800X3D?
Yeah
I can get stutters when exploring new areas/items
But outside of that smooth sailing
I don't understand why outside 60 is a stutter fest for me on this game, it is mind boggling!
Using these two mods
What are they supposed to do?
Should I actually download it?
Seems like it
I'm downloading it right now
This one right?
Looks like the one
It requires some loaders š
omfg i can't even get this game to launch in dx12 anymore
changed steam properties, changed the xml, changed the in game settings, and even locked the xml but somehow it's still vulkan
i give up ffs
like what even is the point of the xml if it just does whatever the fuck it wants
@whole field are you changing your settings on the main menu and then restarting? Ages ago I had a similar issue with RDR2 resetting my settings no matter what and I solved it by loading in-game first, sorting out all of my settings, then saving and restarting the game after that instead
it doesn't sound like it should matter, but it's what worked for me at the time
This game is capable of surprising me with new unheard issues year after year
i mean honestly this is a improvedment over last time i tried
before it would crash before even launching
Okay after adding reshade to the game, it crashes. I guess this is the problem Musa was talking about
use lennys mod loader
i find whyems visuals mod better than visual redemption but its up to u what one u want
both of them make the game look nicer
are u using dx12
What is this Whyems doing?
@glacial berry https://x.com/g01d3nm4ng0/status/1980605233987559514?s=46 ready to upgrade again? š¤£
New Ryzen coming... š§š§š§
Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 - 200W, 16C32T, 192MB L3 cache, 5.6GHz/4.3GHz.
Ryzen 7 9850X3D - 120W, 8C16T, 96MB L3 cache, 5.6GHz/4.7GHz.
just look at the screenshots and description
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1521
try just the stutter fix for now tho
The general idea of Lenny's Mod Loader is to provide an easy way to modify the game. In its current state for RDR 2 it will allow you to replace any file in the game, whether they are streaming files such as models or data files, font files etc. It also includes full UI support akin to the GTA V ...
with lennys mod loader
Explain to me how does it work with this loader if you don't mind, why is it necessary?
the loader is just a mod loader
it works like any other mod loader, it loads mods present in a mods folder
but it also gives u an interface to enable/disable mods if you want
the stutter fix mod is just a generic mod reccomended to use for rdr2 to help with stuttering
i thought u were already using it tbh, ive been using it the whole time
it increases memory pool limits related to texture streaming to help combat stuttering
you need lennys mod loader, asi loader and scripthook
those are just required to get the game to properly load and utilize a modified/edited gameconfig, so the mod can actually work
these are the 4 mods u need in total to make the stutter fix work
install those 4 and see if it helps
then u can also add other mods if u want in the future, to do stuff like make better ragdolls, more blood effects, etc
i have a mod that makes the game have seasons (like fall, winter, summer) and one that makes nights much darker, another mod to let me stash my lantern on my belt
Thanks for the explanation
God this game really tempts me to go ultra wide for next monitor
man thats sexy
hellblade 2 on an ultrawide would change you
tbf im on oled rn, so I could just fake it with cru
(my next monitor will be a 16:9 4k panel)
too hard to run, uw oled 1440p
I lied I actually don't know, I'll just have to see what the market is like. I'd probably get more utility out of a super high refresh 1440p monitor than a 4k one, since I hook up to my tv for controller stuff.
I guess cause thatās something you can still run on 4k 21:9
The most demanding games would be impossible to run
Trying to be productive at 1440p is annoying
at monitor sizes I really don't care so much about 1440p vs 4k
The pixelation triggers me
I have dpi scaling at 175%
I had a 4k 27" LCD before my OLED, I either used 125% or 150%, can't remember. It did make text look super fucking nice though ngl
but for games I truly don't think 1440p vs 4k at that screen size is worth the perf
I avoided 4k oled cause there weren't too many 27" options. But the choices are better now. On my 55"tv i play with 150% when sat at the sofa
square gamer
Vscode is more important than games
Would rather have 4k sdr ips than 1440p tandem OLED
at this point I think I agree lmao
I don't like playing above 27" for games like CS
I tried a 32 for a little bit but it was just too big for me
I run everything at 5160x2160 (DLDSR)
i dont know about cs specifically but alot of it imo is really just getting used to a bigger size, i was a diehard 24" TN gamer for the longest time and wouldnt try anything else
It felt nice for anything else. Just comp shooters, I felt it harder to focus in
I wish I could play on a 27inches, I swear my life would be soooo easy! š
@river willow do you play 4k at 27?
Plus 27 gives me more flexibility for multi monitor. When I pick up a 4k 27" my 1440p will just become my secondary
1440 27" monitor, 4k 55" tv
I know this sounds crazy but nowadays i can play fps games almost as well on my LG G5 in ultrawide which is like... probably still about 51 inches.. only real difference honestly is that my 27 inch is 360hz and the G5 is just 165..
360 feels great, but the new 1440 models push like 500
You could buy the Tandem Oled 27 right now! I swear if I could play at 27 I would have bought it already
which outside of cs and valo is like almost unattainable in most games at any consistent rate xd
overwatch comes to mind too but not sure if thats still popular
would love to try one sometime tho
Yeah, I'd be better off upgrading my cpu before another refresh rate increase. If I can find a 4k 360 that would be easy upgrade for me. I think ill look at moving over to am5. want an x3d chip.
My local second hand shop, has a 5800x3d in for a decent price which is real tempting tho
even with my 9800x3d it can be tough to push 400+ in many games ngl
sumn like cod or battlefield pretty much no way
Just use framegen

PT though
I can only barely run Indiana jones with fg on my 5080
tbf FG 2x at 240fps FGing to 480fps probably very usable
I can run Indiana Jones maxed out with PT at a locked 60FPS at 5160x2160 (with DLSS SR/RR)
I usually like FG, but I can't stand it in that game for whatever reason
I should have gotten a 5090
only "real" frames here
Actually last time I played Indiana jones was with my dogshit i5-12400 and 16gb of ram
I'm a frame generation fake frames enjoyer š
What pisses me off the most is I've never had the chance to try the multi frame Gen!!! Basically the only exclusive feature of the 50series

what dlss tho
DLSS performance at 4k is good if the game doesnāt do anything stupid with post processing
balanced
5090 was a big uplift over my 4090 in a lot of cases, probably because of the high resolution
i found that meh even with transformer
like its good but
can defo tell upscaling going on
Actually without ray reconstruction DLSS performance can be questionable
Like in gta v
yea
RR makes quite the diff
Oblivion remaster too
perf looks kinda whack without forcing RR with U+
then its ight
im coping in 3840x1600
(jk is a good res to play at ngl)
Overclocked i reached an average of 36/38% uplift compared to my 4090
that sounds about right
i sent my 5090 FE back because it was more like 20% ish in the games i tried
I have a wicked fast 4090 tho so not fair
Uplift isnt the most impressive part to me. Founders being a 2 slot is very nice. I'd pay the premium on ebay just for that
Man nowadays with the huge builds necessary to run a proper high end system, 2 slots or 3 slots I feel it doesn't make a sensible difference anymore. I went for the last 2gen full big tower
I'm gonna be full tower next build. Someone gifted me an internal 4k blu ray drive for my bday. So space savings are irrelevant for me lol
@sterile ruin tell a lie, I just booted it up to check and I'm using performance not balanced in Indiana Jones. I found this very first section to be one of the heaviest in the game, so it's a good test case

@river willow @white oyster here we go! š
I'm just going by historical evidence
Rt in a few years maybe
Soon
i mean just judging by GTA5, could see them give rdr2 the same treatment
but i generally dont care much, game looks great already
gta 5 looked much more dated in comparison soo makes sense that in order to overhaul the lighting that they went and added rt, while i would argue red dead wont benefit nearly as much but i might be completely wrong
RDR2 has screen space artifacts up it's own ass
Like I said a while ago. RT reflections would be a cherry on top of a very nice looking game
You remove screen space and some baked lights, replacing them with proper shadows and reflections gonna be the best looking game of the next 5 years too
The reflections are fine actually for the most part
It's the GI and AO I have the issue with
And the shadow box draw distance
Getting the shadows to look decent plus grass shadows cost as much as RT solution would
Screen space shadows pop in can mostly be dealt with graphical issues fixes mod
Not on consoles you can't
is it that bad? never noticed but ive not played it a shitton yet
Shadows in my opinion are the most important problem of RDR2, which make some elements feel not properly integrated with the environment
They can stand out like balls on a buldog
Sucks to suck
When you have a game that looks this good any imperfections stand out more
guess im legally blind
or not played enough
only did like 6-8 hours earlier this year, mainly because i was testing dlss 4 with it and was amazed how much better that shit looked with transformer model
It's the latter
Proper Shadows would make a huge difference!
RDR2O isn't a thing unlike GTAO
Doubt it'll happen
Come on, still sold 80M copies man
RDR2 is still one of the best selling games ever IIRC
It's just not the evergreen titan like GTAO
Past tense sold. They got what they wanted
I mean, they aren't really selling more GTA copies cause GTAO got RT. That is already a behemoth of its own, they don't need to do all that.
It was more of a testing bed for them likely for GTA 6 than anything else.
RDR2 remastered rumours are certainly nice, but also sucks cause I've yet to play campaign.
Got 500hrs in online only.

But with Musa's mod now and all, might make some time for it next year, preferably before GTA 6, if no remastered comes.
I've got something like 600 hours playtime and I've never made my online character
we are not the same
I've got around 800 hours in Single Player only and still to this day is the only game where I feel like I'm in a "real world"
It definitely caught me by surprise, man.
I bought the game only to play campaign, but online suckered me in.
Allowing huge lobbies of friends playing together, and then game also went like $1
Red Dead Online, that is. Standalone.
At launch.
So, that ballooned it up even further.
Got shit ton of hours in it, all of us. It's a shame how abonded it's always been.
Shitty AF grind, too. But since few of us already did the grind, we fast tracked it for other friends.
It's a beaaaaaaaautiful game with lots of amazing moments.
Even in online, the world is same, idk if map is same? So, I can only imagine how enhanced campaign is.
I also had such a loooooooooong AF streak going on for daily login rewards as well, that got rekt when Rockstar changed the way they give daily bonus.
Never played Multiplayer. Did I miss out?
I had like idk fucking over a year worth of daily logging in.
Not really
Unless you got a bunch of friends to roll around with, then it's great.
We'd hop on daily, do activities, trades, moonshine missions, collector, hunting, robbery, and catching robbers etc.
We'd put on a music bot in the same call.
I'd force 'em to listen to my shitty glorious playlists, and vice versa.
That's what made it all fun, the game provided a perfect playground for gathering and playing.
Man, it actually sounds a lot of fun how you describe it!
Even watching paint dry is a lot of fun with a right group of friends š
Game has enough content to keep you busy if you're looking to do it all for like 80-100hrs, I'd say.
But grind is real, and it's annoying. Grind for gold, that is.
You can min/max it, and it'll help.
But grind is there.
Take away like ~100hrs from there that were spent in single player, cause my friend borrowed my acct. She wanted to replay campaign on PC.
Everything else is pure online.
Us after doing online activity, all dressed up.
You know, Sometimes I just follow NPC and check their routine and daily life. Man, I hope I will be experiencing another game like that
Looool
GTA6 has a bunch of interesting NPC systems filed with USPTO. We could be seeing it even better stuff.
Albeit, not so much as here, cause life back then was mostly out and about.
Over here, I'd reckon NPCs will eventually have to go in their homes and you can't follow back in, or just won't be something you can see.
I watched an interview with Take Two CEO (whom he doesn't know shit about gaming tbh) and he said to a specific question about NPC behavior
That's it is impossible to have the same in GTA because of the size of the project
Most don't know shit about gaming, they don't really need to, so long as they're good at what they do to keep the company alive.
It's very rare that nerds make good suits, and vice versa.
Fair enough, tbh.
But I've seen some leaked videos that look interesting enough as is.
Everything's going to feel like a huge upgrade anyway since GTA5 came out 982348923489234 years ago.
Fucking hell, man. It's been 7 years since RDR2 itself.

I give you an example with a game I love but I couldn't really get a real immersion in it: Cyberpunk
Just because of the NPC behavior and spawn system
Cyberpunk feels follow in comparison for stuff like that, yeah.
Like it's diff leagues altogether.
I haven't played either, though. Campaign, that is.
I've completed 4 runs in Cyberpunk, I genuinely love the gameplay and art direction. But man, NPC and general AI routine are such a let down
I was so disappointed when it came out
They've improved it a fuck ton since launch, though.
But yeah, still likely nothing in comparison to RDR2.
Anyway, have you checked The Outer Worlds 2? Might be a nice open world
Same!
I loved everything about it, though. So, sequel should be dope.
@lime lintel https://jeanropke.github.io/RDR2CollectorsMap/
Red Dead Online Collectors Map. Find all collectibles across the world and sell to Madam Nazar.
If you play RDO, this map will help immensely with the grind.
Albeit, it won't help with gold, just $$$.
And gold is what you need to unlock new roles.
And don't try to rush all roals, just farm gold and buy roles when they go on sale, so you pay half and shit.
Unlock bounty hunting ASAP as that'll give you more gold with its activities.
Also, is that map same as what you have in campaign?
Size/areas, I mean.
Yep, directx 12. Changed the overlay keybinding too
Yeah, it looks the same to me, I don't see differences opening it from my phone, but with all these icons I might be loosing something
Interestingly enough, I can't find the reshade log file anywhere to debug what's going on . I'm on linux. I've used renodx/luma before for both God of war and Bioshock and didn't have any issues
I've just switched to vulkan and decided to enjoy the game. It looks pretty, HDR or not!
Will the "Next Gen" RDR2 update with Ray Tracing ever happen?
4
10
How do you actually install this lol, usual reshade and then just drop the file in to the games folder?
Just drop the file into the game directory where Reshade is located. Which is the same directory the games .exe is located. Reshade will pick it up as an add-on.
great work on this mod š
finally night time doesn't look washed out with hdr
saint denis looks incredible now
Van Horn it's incredible too
is there a fix for the broken day night cycle for this game? didnt have it with vulkan but am having it now since renodx requires me to use dx12
broken as in, it changes from night to day and vice verse instantly
yeah i have that problem too lol, and i have the darker nights mod so its even more noticable
havent found a fix yet, i think its just a problem with the game, it only lasts a few seconds tho so i get used to it
So it says wip but why is it just cuz the dx12 thing
Cuz another question about that is will other mods work with dx12 since I was told too use vulkan for mods
Wait what?!? I didn't play enough these days but I didn't see that. Is that a common thing? Can't believe these DirectX 12 libraries are such an headache ffs!!!
I used to have that botched day/night transition issue when using DLSS/DLAA, but using the default TAA instead resolved it
RDR2's the only game I use the default TAA over DLSS, it's such a janky implementation
I fixed it! PSA for folks on linux: After installing Reshade, my Steam launch command for the game was d3dcompiler_47=n;dxgi=n,b %command% as that is what the reshade installer had set. Of course, the game was crashing in this case. I enabled proton logs, and found that it was throwing an error saying d3dcompiler_47.dll was not found. I figured this had something to do with the d3dcompiler_47.dll file symlinked for reshade.
SOLUTION: Change the steam launch command of the game to d3dcompiler_47=n,b;dxgi=n,b %command% we're basically asking it to fallback to wine's DLL if the native one isn't found. After doing this, I was able to get into the game and enjoy Musa's amazing mod!
The hdr still has missing shaders for one or 2 missions and maybe some certain scenarios with screen filters, thatās why itās WIP
So HDR might turn off in 1 or 2 missions or when a certain screen filter is used
Personally I havenāt noticed that happen yet and Iām into chapter 2 now
I'm in chapter 3 but just hunting, I didn't encounter bugs so far
Is the pinned one latest ?
Nah it's one of the games that benefit the most from transformer DLSS over the TAA blur.
The only bug I've noticed with transformer in particular (don't remember it before using Reno), is that character hair is pitch black when it's dark and it's only being lit with sources like lamps, but it's seemingly resolved when loading a save with just TAA, and then toggling DLSS on afterward.
This game is such a joke with DX12. Nothing but tiny problems everywhere. Now the game is refusing to enable DX12 all together.
Yep, noticed the same thing. Also the distant textures don't load correctly unless I go to the settings.xml file and set all the "lodscale" values that are at 0 by default, to 1.
Also to me I have some texture loading delay, I wish we could have this MOD on Vulkan. @flint crater we are all suffering because of your Mod :))
The TAA looks terrible in that game. Even the updated one. DLAA walks all over it
For some reason, Reshade makes the game only use Vulkan.
Alright. Looks like Reshade was somehow installed twice? After uninstalling Reshade still appears. So I put the mod in like normal, and now the game works, again, finally.
yeah fr
TAA will look good if played on 4k
But DLAA > DLSS Quality > TAA High

I can clearly see why musa hated default hdr in game
yeah i cant even boot the game with a fresh install with dx12, i get out of memory issues
there was a point in time i could use dx12 but i think vulkan had less issues with artifacts ingame too
TLAA still looks dogshit imho
turning dlss on in rdr2 felt like going into the future to me
Man I play 4k and TAA is unbearable. Since they added DLAA the picture presentation in RDR2 has improved dramatically.
But the most important thing is the "stability" and "consistency" of the smaller details
No fix needed just -50 green
It's literally another game with DLAA
I managed to get it running, but there's frame spikes and a bunch of odd things happening in the sky at times and weird popins, cant remember any of these being present with vulkan
In The Gilded Cage- mission (mayors party mission) the game crashes for me at a specific point with the mod. After the cutscene with Bronte, you get down to the bottom floor with Dutch through the stairs, the room where you see a fireplace. I tried again 3 times, and after disabling the mod it wouldn't crash there anymore.
Documents/Rockstar Games/Red Dead Redemption 2/Settings/system.xml open it, and search for "lodscale" with CTRL + F. If any of the lod options have a value of 0, set them to 1. This fixed the textures not loading correctly at distance for me.
its not just distant stuff
there's some close issues with puddles i noticed
and some weird clouds
the game runs so much better on vulkan truly, i think just a black floor fix is enough, i dont feel like rest of the game being objectively worse than vulkan makes renodx worth it
Was dlaa added natively to the game? I don't see the settings
Choose different stairs when coming down and don't follow dutch to stairs
you have to force DLAA
but DLSS4 basically killed DLAA for me, DLSS quality on 4k is basically better than dlss 3 dlaa
From the Nvidia App just override DLSS to latest and choose manually DLAA to inject it. In game menu you will see it as "Ultra Quality"
being forced to play this mod with DX12 is basically deciding if u want slightly better HDR than running stable vulkan and just use lilliumās black floor fix
Okay, I'm on linux, so I'll have to override it some other way. Thanks for the tip!
Black Floor Fix i found it worsen the image in RDR2 crushing blacks. Better just using native at that point
I dont think it crushed blacks unless you've calibrated it wrong, i think some popular modder (maybe musa himself) posted some screenshots with better hdr before this mod, months back
imho its not really worth playing on DX12 unless it just works for you for some magical reason
but im super allergic to frame time stutters (something that rdr2 is plagued with on DX12) and weird artifacts
I don't agree and of course I didn't calibrate it wrong, we were discussing about that with Musa
sure
Nvidia app forcing wont expose ultra quality setting iirc. That in game setting is only exposed if you are using something like dlsstweaks. And I'm pretty sure that the setting does nothing unless you set ultra quality to override to 77% in dlsstweaks gui/config. I set the override to 100% so the in game ultra quality setting acts as dlaa
lets have less black crush and let game run like a monkey with popins instead
its up to each person what they prefer
it's not surprising dx12 is plagued with issues when a lot of ppl cant even get the game to start with it
I completely agree that Vulkan is a much better experience. If you look up in this tread I stated that many times
its sad, i use reno in almost every game, but this is rockstars fault for making red dead on pc so unreliable š
I'm just telling you that black floor fix doesn't improve HDR presentation IMO
Black floor fix works well enough in daytime scenes..it just pales in comparison to Reno at nighttime
Objectively i think it looks way better, but thats my objective opinion of course
To me it worsen the image which doesn't have colors already in HDR, overdarkening shadow details
Renodx it brings out colors and details that are completely gone otherwise
Well yeah, Reno is targeting the SDR grade. Default "game" HDR is more of a neutral look with neutered colours
#1212434739500154921 message
i just tried this which was a discussion between KoKlusz and muza, and i thought it looked great
but i'm not a purist like them
but i don't really sit and analyze images, i had a full playthrough and liked it so it's not objective truth of being good or not, just a personal opinion that it looked great and ran great with vulkan
I've done hours and hours of testing, and RDR2 is tricky cause something that it is working during day time, in some location and with a specific weather, doesn't work in other conditions
I should try going vulkan with no renodx again and compare, but i had some very weird immersion breaking cloud/sky phenomena
it was just a specific spot on top of a mountain though so maybe just the game engine is cucked and i just happened to notice more issues on dx12
Man DX12 is unbearable. Loading textures, sometimes stutters (I had to cap it at 60 cause 120 just stutters to me) and other glitches
That's why I wish we could get a MOD on Vulkan
Who cares, we are going to experience it on a PS5 at least till 2027, so we are fucked anyway š
its okay. next gen edition will fix everything
I'm still waiting for this RDR2 update! š
@river willow @white oyster i think I will reverse to Vulkan, I really can't stand some visual glitches and loading shadows delay. It's a shame cause I love this Mod, but it is upsetting me the game with these performances, especially when I had 120fps smooth before
Rockstars track record with updates for this game does not fill me with confidence. All I can hope for is that they separate the versions so that I can keep my modded setup with minimal headache. If it's just a pure update, it'll be a long day
To me it is working though
thats unfortunate, idk why u have so many perf problems, mines super stable 80-100fps with DLAA, using a 5800x3d and 4080 at 1440p
is the loading shadows delay what causes weird long flickering shadows at the very edges of my monitor?
Probably yes
like what do u see
I have 2 main issues which are immersion breaking to me:
-
Some Textures delays on assets like housing and building (not often but quite sometimes)
-
Shadow delay adjustment on NPC and small object: the closer you get to the NPC the more detailed the shadow becomes (it is like there is a shorter radius of shadow stability compared to Vulkan)
idk how but i havent seen or noticed either of those issues
the flickering shadows on the edge of the screen is just a screen space shadows "artifact"
But that's not "flickering", of course if you look at water or other things with screen space that's the effect. I thought something else tbh
I wouldn't describe it as "flickering"
Before I try to set this up, are there compatibility issues with scripthook or not?
Use AB scripthook, not scripthook V2
cool, sounds good
you may want to grab a more up to date version of the asi loader from here https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases/download/x64-latest/dinput8-x64.zip
If you really have to advice me for the best visual mod (which doesn't break) what would you tell me to absolutely download? But only if it's something really worth it to enhance the experience
I don't personally use any of the major visual mods. If you want something light weight, I use this. https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/6335
Is it worth it? Does it break? I'm on Vulkan again now
Works fine on either api
You use the weather mod if I remember we'll right?
Nope someone else
So, this Mod makes a good impact?
It's subtle
Keeps vanilla look intact
And I use this mod to clean up things like shadow pop in
If it works this is huge
Yeah. The author has a mod to extend the lod as well which I use. But you'll have to merge the changes if you want to use both. He explains what lines to change in the comments of the lod mod page
These 2 you post here work fine together on Vulkan and with Reshade too right?
Yup
Done, I will install these 2 tomorrow then, thank you
Going back to Vulkan and having 120fps and DLAA with no glitches it's too good
Does enabling hdr10+ in the in game settings do anything, and just outta curiosity why is motion blur mandatory?
i like whyems visuals
get terraom textures overhaul if ur on vulkan
the shaders for renodx havent been made with motion blur off and there might be weird issues but some ppl have said it works fine
gotcha. are recommended settings the way to go?
also, does whyems visuals conflict with the mod in any way?
Am I forced to use LML? Is there no way for doing it manually?
Yes use lml
not that ive seen
lml is just really nice to use regardless
most mods use it
Careful with scripthook and mods like why-em. Random encounters often break like you cant talk to baggers. Also NPC scripts do sometimes not work correctly during missions. Like crocodiles are not moving forward in cutscenes when they are swimming for example. I do not recommend for a regular playthrough.
whyems, rdo, eee are not worth the extra chance of spawn bugs imo
Yes, I'm not gonna risk it
If it was something like that, I would think about it

and be selective with any texture overhauls you use. avoid instanity's mods, they are not handmade textures. just lazy ai slop thats not even correctly compressed
I decided I will not go for any visual overhaul, maybe just the ones you sent me for bug fixes
just out of curiosity, are there plans to eventually support vulkan or is that simply not possible?
not possible with the current tools I have, the decomp doesn't seem to work for it
gotta update the mod now that shortfuse made new shadows and highlights sliders
@balmy surge some magic for Vulkan players? Some RenoDX miracle? You can't leave us suffering like that!
i honestly don't really notice much if any difference when playing in dx12 compared to vulkan, in rdr 2, at least
That's Good for you man
I'm having sudden changes that are happening with the day night cycle when the lighting will suddenly shift. is this something to do with reno or is it another one of my mods?
ah okay, thanks!
On DX12 there is slight stutter , On Vulkan the game runs smoothly.
cpu intel or amd ?
Same for me (5090/9800X3D) and the only working solution was to lock the game at 60. With DirectX anything above 60 was full of microstutters
Dx12 also has many miscellaneous graphical glitches that I never had with vulkan, but thatās not too bad. Stutter fix along with cpu prio takes care of the stuttering for me
I tried but it is not worth it for me. On Vulkan I get 120fps smooth with almost no glitches and textures and shadows loading much more stable
Yes we know, youāve brought it up like three separate times LMAO
Loool-lander
There's no reason to play red dead redemption 2 on DirectX12 unless you're interested in HDR. The game runs smoothly on Vulcan with any mods
uhuh and some people want both
ya and i really want HDR lol
thats the only reason i use DX12
ur in the renoDX HDR mod discord lmao everyone here is prolly using DX12 cuz they have to
i rly wish i could use vulkan and use TTO for better terrain textures
Can't do dx12 => vk?
I don't buy games to mod them. Promised myself I wouldn't do that. There are rare exceptions for like $2 games
You rem what I wrote you?
We have vulkan mods though
No?
Tomorrow I will send you Steam Gift ā¤ļø
@flint crater what's the reason why vulkan isn't modded? Shaders? Cbuffers?
The shaders didnāt decomp properly I think
They wouldnāt replace in real time with devkit, and then when I tried creating an addon with the new shaders they would give a black output
You got a spv? @lime lintel can save his money then
Man, to thank you for all the mods the entire steam library would be enough. So, even if you don't do it it's my pleasure
Ya let me find them
But what if I don't want the game
haven't finished rdr1
i played RDR2 first, youll be fine
man a vulkan version of renodx for RDR2 would be the holy grail basically lol
so many small issues with using DX12 like worse mod compatibility, shadow issues, microstutter, etc
Only played the intro of rdr1
Me too š
Can probably reach out to Hans since he's basically the spirv whisperer
i played a little bit of it, should prolly play more
Got bored really fast
ill happily donate to patreon for a vulkan version of the mod haha
Rdr1 feels really primitive
yeah RDR2 spoiled me
John Marston was cool, from what I remember
That was 15 years ago. Might hate him now though
I'm in!!!!
You don't want to know why he got scars on his face?! š¤£
was working perfectly fine a second ago
So HDR and direct X ON with motion blur on ingame?, and use beta build 5 right? just making sure I'm gooing in right lol.
yeah
hdr 10+ gaming too? or just hdr
hdr10+ gaming should always be turned off
can't even launch rockstar games launcher
oh shoot really? even on my tv settings or just in games? @flint crater
Hdr10+ is when the tv tonemaps. You want the game to tonemap, which is why you tell the game your peak nits so your TV does nothing extra and just outputs (less processing lag too)
From what Iāve seen so far itās entirely fake in games anyway. It basically just tells the game what your peak brightness is so you donāt have to manually move the slider to the right setting
And it forces you into exclusive full screen
So just have it off in the tv settings
spv and my decomp
if its an input sig error idk how to deal with that cause idk how to see what the intermediate code is
vec4 _1034 = vec4(_1029, dot(_1029, vec3(0.2989999949932098388671875, 0.58700001239776611328125, 0.114000000059604644775390625)));
ew
i'll take a closer look tomorrow, should be a script to decompile and recompile and compare.
thankfully there's people who want a working spv decompiler. for directx it's just us
i have spvasm now
i'm pretty sure hans will fix it if we file it.

who is hans
crosire?
no thats patrick
unfortunately hdr with vulkan requires exclusive fullscreen in this game
and alt tabbning puts you in borderless
so modding vk is a pain
same dude, basically
if something isn't decompiling/recompiling, he'll care
he's building a Vulkan => DX12 translator, apparently
or is it the other way around
other way around, since it's proton. but proton for windows would be interesting
the number of people who deep dive this stuff is probably less than 20
javascript/web is the same way. you think it's hundreds of people, and it's not. the same 10 people over and over
Vanilla / New RenoDX Defaults / Match SDR
whoa, there's still some work to be done for this one? or just new settings for the latest version?
Beta Build 6:
- requires motion blur on
- not all tonemap shaders done yet
- mod overrides the in-game settings
Changes:feat(rdr2): overhaul tonemap, color grade, defaults, presets; add gamut compression
time to test š
removed recommended cause defaults are now recommended
good thing I finished making changes cause now I can't launch the game
wtf, gallery has that spam message
can't connect to rockstar
i had that memory error last week with rdr2 which hadn't happened in awhile
had to start in safe mode to fix it
looks amazing, Musa
Gameplay was the worst part to me. Other than guns feeling a bit better than the first, it was substantially worse in every other way. Idk how it was received so well, it was truly a precursor to everything that went wrong with Youngblood.
its not really a shooter
its more like a stealth game
Itās an ass stealth game
i can understand people dont like it though
you can check the speedrun of Mein Leben difficulty
Wolfestein 2 i liked it tbh š¤£
its basically how the game should be played ngl
The decapitation survival was something unique ngl! š
Yeah if had a lot of cool stuff in it, I just thought it was horribly designed.
First game is awesome though
Right now I wouldn't mind a Wolfestein 3, I would enjoy it
the gameplay is very different from the first game
First game is basically a good cod campaign to me

Considering the last good COD campaign was BO2 not encouraging! š¬
Actually BO6 is not bad either
Even the good COD campaigns are just slop to me.
vanguard and mw2023 are dogshit
Like critically examining fast and the furious, I just donāt care lol.
Let's see BO7
Ahahahahah man I laughed so hard
there were cod campaigns that contain very good story
Let's talk about Toretto introspection pls
It reminds me of De Niro as the young Corleone ššš
Tell him! @stray plume just snobbing "street art" COD campaign
bro thers a bunch of decent campaigns after bo2
AW wasnt bad, IW was good, BO3 was okay but nothing special, MW2019 was really nice just because of how different it felt and how well HDR is implemented in that
mw2022 is also decent
mw3 sucks ass, cold war was okay, bo6 was alright too
but yeah BO1 and 2 campaigns have a special place in my heart
Cold war was fun. Plus the branching story was kinda novel. I haven't played 6's yet

pulling my hair out rn trying to get DLSS overrides to work in this game
What are you trying to use? NVapp or DLSS tweaks?
DLSS tweaks you can grab the generic version from nexus. The red dead specific version hasnt been updated in a while.
Nvapp and dlsstweaks both failing for me
When I use them DLSS is completely gone from the ingame menus

Rockstar games version
Ohhh I had that before. Right uninstall dlsstweaks if using and then reset your graphics settings by deleting settings from documents/r* games
You may have to change your API back to dx12. Vulkan defaults
workd ootb for me
i had it work in the past
wanted to try reno so i had to switch from vulkan to dx12
having issues ever since
I use dlss tweaks with the quality override to set ultra quality to 100% (dlaa). Then I can have dlaa as a toggle in game without having to force it in nvapp
Dlsstweaks should expose the ultra quality setting in game
nvidia app works just fine for me with dx12 @sterile ruin so its def possible
nvapp works fine, you just aren't able to set auto exposure. Transformer gets artifacts without it on
white flickering / artifacting that can happen at night time or bright scnes in snowy areas
ohh interesting
can you add the snapshot directly on github ? discord links are finnicky af
would require setting up a whole thing and then pushing it to the main branhc of my repo every time I wanna do that
I'll just finish it this week
and push it to the main repo
you should always dew it people love your work my š
i always tell my friends : look musa released a new banger
"Red Dead Redemption 3 will probably happen"
in year 2070
I actually think it will happen around 2030

is it normal for the LUT to take away tons of color? if i set LUT scaling to 0, it looks way more colorful than 50 or 100
I doubt as LUT scaling should be referred to blacks...But what do I know? š
I've never seen any RenoDX mod where look scaling was affecting colors tbh
weird, maybe its somehow affecting visual mods i have installed
lut strength 100
LUT strength 0
There is something wrong 100%! @flint crater? š¤
This seems to be a visual bug to me
idk if its a visual bug, i have WhyEms visuals mod as well as the dynamic seasons mod
right now its winter
and the LUT strenght 100 seems to set it to the "cool" winter colors/tonemapping
whereas LUT strength 0 sets it to default/vanilla
idk why theyd be interacting like that tho, i kinda thought renodx would just apply ontop of the mods and not affect the mods much
Honestly I have no idea what is happening in that Pic...Is it something that you can see "gradually happening"? I mean, if you put LUT scaling to 50 does it look like a color tone "in between"?
yeah lol
i can do 75 and it looks more "cool" but still has more color than if its set to 100
im gonna test some stuff with those mods disabled
I doubt Renodx would conflict with any MOD which is not altering the LUT
no visual mods, LUT strength 100
lut strength 0
not sure if this is the intended effect from Reno's LUT? perhaps it is? looks very yellow, attleast where im at
It's weird, I have no idea what is happening
This image is desaturated and it's missing contrast
It seems like a filter is being applied
yeah it looks way nicer with LUT strength 0
@stray plume what do you think? āļø
Idk I didnāt make this lol
I know, but how can LUT scaling do that?
But it's LUT streght or scaling I don't get it?
Maybe if the LUT encoding is different for the modded LUTs
If it's LUT streght it could very well be
Or rather, if musa changed the encoding, then all modded LUTs would be broken if theyāre just textures.
its called LUT strength
i mistakenly called it LUT scaling at first
Because here you wrote Scaling
yeah i thought it was called scaling then i double checked in the UI
its called LUT strength
Ok
LUT strength should be related to the intensity of color grading, so I think it's normal, why would you even touch it?
cuz in the CP2077 RenoDX i use, LUT strength defaulted to 50, and it defauled to 100 for the RDR2 mod
i wanted to see what it looked like at 50, and thats when i noticed the dramatic color difference
idk why it looks like a yellow filter is applied when its turned up, odd
not sure if i like it
this scene looks really nice and moody with lut strength 0
but when i set it to 100, it kinda ruins it
(my screenshots look like shit cuz its converting them to SDR, looks way better in person fyi)
We should wait for Musa and he will tell us
It works
The yellow filter is how the game looks
Thatās why I hated the gameās hdr
On my phone rn but iirc whyemās visuals looked awful in hdr
I tried it like a year ago and it was extremely deep fried
it looks gross lmao it looks way better with LUT strength 0
@lime lintel u had that issue with the weird flickering shadows at the edges of ur game, right?
like this kinda
install this with LML and itll fix it
it sets DirectionalScreenSpaceShadowQuality to 0.0 in the systemsettings which fixes that bug
With Vulkan I no longer see it
yeah its not a problem with vulkan
im still using RenoDX tho and im on DX12 so i still have the bug
that mod fixed it for me
I'm confident @balmy surge will bless us soon for Vulkan š¬
hopefully one day
@flint crater would you say the new default recommended settings are better or Match SDR button? having a hard to to decide rn
Default
#1413570163789266954 message
Yes i know that the default settings are now equal to the recommended button
Defaults
Match sdr is pretty crushed
i see, yeah im currently meesing with defaults + some small adjustments
i dont like 0 blow out
the sun has like a yellow ring on the edge with that
blowout 1 makes that much more pleasant
also is there a way to disable this fucking Rockstar overlay
its bound to the same button as reshade
i remapped the reshade overlay button sometimes i still press home out of habit and for some reason the game crashes with a out of memory error when its opening the rockstar overlay

play the special sauce version
