Game specific mod for WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

    Instructions:

  • Install Reshade 6.5.1+ (if using Xbox Games, pick the gamelaunchhelper.exe file)

  • Install renodx-wuchang.addon64 file next to game exe (Wuchang Fallen Feathers\Project_Plague\Binaries\Win64\Project_Plague-Win64-Shipping.exe)

  • Launch game

The mod requires the in-game HDR toggle to be OFF.

The mod has two different modes that are selectable in the mod menu:

  1. Upgrade SDR to HDR
  2. Upgrade Engine.ini forced HDR

Both modes look identical, but the Engine.ini path works with transformer model framegen.

The Engine.ini path should setup on it's own, but for some people the automatic method doesn't work. If it doesn't work for you, do the following:

Go to your respective folder and open the file:
Steam: %localappdata%\Project_Plague\Saved\Config\Windows
Xbox: %localappdata%\Project_Plague\Saved\Config\WinGDK

Add the following code and save:
[SystemSettings] r.AllowHDR=1 r.HDR.EnableHDROutput=1 r.HDR.Display.OutputDevice=3 r.HDR.Display.ColorGamut=2 r.HDR.UI.CompositeMode=1

I'm having the same issue with Wuchang and Wukong with their Reno mods as the black levels are raised at all default settings. For Wuchang, it's both with the SDR and the HDR path

The cave with the first (mini) boss has much higher black levels than with default HDR for example

Does Wukong behave the same? Those are the only games I've seen with raised black levels and Reno so I never tried this

hey and thanks for the mod
however there's something weird going on on my end. if i turn off HDR ingame with the mod active i get a really washed out picture in game. menus look okay though. this is with unreal HDR mode FG on and latest patch
if i turn HDR on ingame it looks better but w raised blacks
any idea? thanks

thanks for the reply. you mean install ultra+ for wuchang and Unreal HDR in your renodx should work as inteded?
if yes, is there any specific setting in ultra+ or just install it?

I honestly can’t remember. It either just works by installing ultra+ or there’s an extension to it that fixes it.

Hi! As a regular fan of renodx, I've installed it for this game, but I have an issue. At the very beginning of the game, there is a short cutscene where the character receives a blade. Dark areas in the hair are blue (like oversaturated) instead of black.
If I set reno preset to off, no more blue color issue (but original HDR is back).
Any idea?

Changing tonemapper from ACED + filmic blend to ACES only solved the issue. It seems lowering shadows still with filmic blend on can also be a solution.
But without filmic blend the colors are not quite the same (it's colder, more realistic, but less cinematic)

Hopefully it fixes the game. I can’t support this mod anymore because I no longer have game pass.

OK I've found the right settings with your reno! I just lower the shadows from 50 to 30, keep filmic blend, the shadows in the 1st cutscene are not blue anymore, and I don't loose details in the shadows. I prefer the final render over unreal extended and there is no framegen flickering issue.
I guess you don't have to deprecate your reno after all 😄
