It's because since 4000 series or maybe earlier the GPUs have auto error correction.

So you don't get crashes but you will get slower than optimal speeds if you OC memory too high.

You need to actually test the memory speed to find the optimal OC.

what I'm doing is I'm running a large number through the slider code to find white clip and then using an aggressive tonemapper to map it back down to 10k. Basically it keeps already high nit values from exploding into clipping territory when you use hdr boost or color grading

so the sliders are much less dangerous now

not that anybody would use this but to show the problem even better, highlights 100 before/after

funny enough the highlights 60 example might be better lol

perhaps when the tonemapper shortfuse made is completely ready, I could instead just feed the new white clip value to the display mapper instead of this double tonemap shenanigans

every other option I tested didn't work out very well doing that....

• add highlight compression for color grading sliders to prevent clipping above 10k
• slight adjustment to hdr boost start point

it's kinda likely it will need to stay the way it is. This compression curve is substantially more aggressive than a display mapper should be (reinhard in log space)

probably makes more sense to think of it as adjusting the curve of the grading sliders than to think of it as tonemapping explicitly...

I think I'll give in and raise per channel blowout by a tiny bit for a default

current value looks good in most places I think but novigrad mid day looks a little off at times

It's not been problematic for me, currently using it with over 200 other mods.Also finished Hearts of Stone yesterday. Moving onto Blood and Wine, can deactivate/activate some mods accordingly now.

Haven't played NG without that mod yet. But you can go with lighter mods, too. For example, have the brownish/yellow skills be always activated when learnt, without need to slot them in, that might free up some slots -- though not in your build from the screenshot, hmmm. You can also have every leant skill be always active -- that I would not recommend, it makes the game too trivial even for me, unskilled player that I am. It's better when you can choose which you wanna use. And I think there are mods that only slightly increase the number of slots. But I never tried any, since you can even customize Slots, Slots, ... to allow as many (or few) you want, and can also just change on the fly if you want, with its mod menu.

Check out Smart Camera. It handles angles automatically, so you don't have to move the camera manually or do stuff like locking on. Defaults are zoomed out quite a bit, but can adjust everything in game menu. Official page (it's not on Nexus).

I probably have another mod that improves target selection, what you said about wrong direction attacks. checks

Blood and Steel should improve targeting.

3. Targeting improvements: Tweaked targeting a bit. Less out of vision target selection and weird target changes happen less frequently.

Also has a mod menu, you can disable its combat camera for example (as I prefer Smart Camera for that).
