Damn, that's way more extensive than I thought
Every flank
Yep a lot of the Russian fronts seem to be in full rout due to the HiMARs striking of supplyhubs, railways, etc.
The Izyum offensive (I believe, I may be talking about the wrong one, but it's one of the Donbass offensives and not Kherson), the Ukrainian advance has actually gained more equipment than they've lost due to Russian forces being disorganised and unable to take their equipment with them while retreating.
It means very little, because it's probably the same suspects as usual, but 18 deputies from Moscow and St Petersburg have signed a statement demanding that Putin resign.
They've probably already had unfortunate accidents with the local Windows if they've been deemed a threat to the Tsar, but progress.
Putin is acting like a Tsar.
Russian Dissidents have a bad habit of falling out of 8th story windows in "accidents".
ah
the KGB (and now GRU) playbook going back decades.
KGB became the FSB. GRU is military intelligence.
Thought KGB covered both tasks during the Soviet era?
All Soviet Intelligence branches enjoy their window-diving.
There was a lot of overlap just like between the CIA, NSA, and FBI today
The branches didn't trust one another though
and It looks like Russia has started mobilization.
Russia this morning has launched missile attacks on Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine. Get the latest on the Russian attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in our LIVE BREAKING NEWS COVERAGE.
Several missiles and/or rockets have impacted central Kyiv, and other cities such as Lviv and Dnipro are also reporting attacks. In this interactive ...
ugg, that is not good but since Russia has a limited supply of missiles. It may help speed up the the process of them running out.
Elon Musk continues having the worst run PR machine ever.
He recently attempted to support a Peace offer, where Russia keeps Crimea and the 4 oblasts that "legally voted in referenda to join Russia" (essentially the current borders, with a few changes), and then when told no, whined about Starlink costing too much and threatening to stop providing it
Which on it's own is whatever, par for the course since the Ukrainian diplomat did tell him to Fuck off, except the optics were quite bad. This came right after reports from Ukraine were saying that Starlink was having issues "keeping up" to the front changes (which seems to have just been a technical issue and not malicious intent)
I don't think anything will happen other than some stern words back and forth over this.
Eh probably Article 4 at best.
Apparently Russia has kidnapped 7 Raccoons, a pair of wolves, a llama, peacock and tiger from the Kherson Zoo.
Honestly probably just some conscripts being shitheads. Still wtf.
I hope Zarine is alright
Also, update on the missile.
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/polish-president-says-missile-that-hit-village-was-probably-old-s-300-rocket-2022-11-16/
The missile that caused an explosion in a Polish village near the Ukrainian border was probably an S-300, the Polish president said on Wednesday.
Here come the secondary sanctions, i.e. trade with Russia you get sanctioned as well.
CorrectIon: NATO Parliamentary Assembly is advisory; NATO Secretary-General will that into consideration, then individual countries will make their own policy following that, Essentially it is a first, but major, step.
In practice that's going to lead to a lot of cold people this winter
Yeah. I am definitely mixed on the entire possibility of going forward these sanctions; it could easily lead to third party countries push towards the Chinese/Russian sphere of influence.
Not only that, but on the other forum, people have noted that most of the sources of this news being from Ukrainian sources, and not any other major news site such CNN, BBC, or Reuters. So I am not sure what to make of this yet.
Canadians can now buy $100 Ukrainian Sovereignty Bonds
To offer Canadians an opportunity to directly support the brave people of Ukraine, the Government of Canada is today launching the $500 million Ukraine Sovereignty Bond, first announced last month by the Prime Minister. The funds will assist the Government of Ukraine so it can continue to provide essential services to Ukrainians this winter, suc...
So Russia is essentially cannibalizing it nuclear arsenals to throw rockets filled with rocks at the Ukrainians.
Of course there's also the other explanations, but it's pretty much established that Russia's running low on rockets. Eventually they'll have to decide whether or not to throw nuclear bombs or not.
Not confirmed outside of this photo, but dear god this is a terrible development if true.
i don't think much needs to be read between the lines there to understand the purpose of that "draft". really, really awful what's being done to the ukrainian people.
Didn't think this was true but https://www.newsweek.com/russia-conscript-women-join-ukraine-war-mobilization-1755420
With Russia's demographics crisis they might need to start drafting women.
They also basically describe them as being glorified comfort women, which is fucked up
Esp given a lot of Wagner's recruits have STI's of all kinds
russian women may or may not actually receive military training. ukrainian women are almost certain to be "drafted" into sex slavery. this was the reading between the lines i was just talking about
Given Wagner's roots, Russian Women probably get the same "reward" for being drafted.
Pretty sure they'd be more valuable as rear echelon support like Newsweek talks about
Which is how women soldiers were utilized in the USSR as well
They probably would be more valuable was that, but Progozhin has outright said that their job will be "To make the soldiers lives as comfortable as possible", which when you read between the lines...
Between that and his inability to do things that are more valuable, like not charging into Bakhmut when the city's strategic value is long-gone
I thought it was five golden rings
Nine rings were forged for mortal men
So it seems probable now that M1 Abrams + Leos are gonna be sent soon. I pity Ukrainian logistics officers.
and also the French might be sending their stuff.
And Lelorcs? Jesus
hopefully they use the tanks better than the russians did lol
the russians sent in the tanks without any support at all
Yeah, I think Ukrainains are going to be make advancements in combined arms w/ drones if anything.
Their artillery strikes using drones as spotters are scary accurate.
They're supposed to take over a year to train on and whatever is being sent is really limited, probably only enough for a coordinated breakthrough
Honestly, I imagine they were being trained back while this war was going on. Remember this invasion started in 2014, not 2022.
The 25th was Zelensky's 45th birthday.
Damn he looks good for 45
About as good as when Obama was elected and he was pretty good as well
He is holding up well, all things considered. Zelensky that is.
This topic was created in order to discuss the ongoing invasion and occupation of Ukraine by Russian forces as well as the conflicts that led to the invasion.
Quick Info:
The Russo-Ukrainian War is an ongoing war between Russia (together with pro-Russian separatist forces) and Ukraine. It was started by Russia in February 2014 following the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity, and initially focused on the status of Crimea and the Donbas, internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. The first eight years of the conflict included the Russian annexation of Crimea (2014) and the war in Donbas (2014–present) between Ukraine and Russian-backed separatists, as well as naval incidents, cyberwarfare, and political tensions. Following a Russian military build-up on the Russia–Ukraine border from late 2021, the conflict expanded significantly when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022.

Pretty grueling standstill
https://twitter.com/TheStudyofWar/status/1544831906117783555
The #Kremlin continues to prepare for a protracted war by setting conditions for crypto-mobilization of the economy and largely initiating an operational pause in #Ukraine.
Read the latest from @TheStudyofWar and @criticalthreats: https://t.co/n3lhjHyTm3
crypto-mobilization? what is that
I don't know, I've only been looking at the maps for the past few months now
But this seems to make a better statement
https://twitter.com/GeriMonsen1/status/1544832834098958341
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats “Crypto-mobilization?” Are you sure that that is the word you want to use? Maybe “pseudo-mobilization” or “stealth mobilization”?
oh gotcha ok, interesting
iirc, they want to use crypto to get around the sanctions that ban them from making transactions in certain currency or something along those lines
Well, It is not a good time to a be a Russian Ammo dump worker. Ukraine has been hitting them pretty hard.
(Why are BBC links so long?)
They're not
The rest of it is meta data stuff
Ah
Yeah the rest was like "Hey, you came from twitter!"
But I came from a history forum!! Lol
But anyways, the Russian Duma is set to discuss banning ALL "gay propaganda" instead of just that geared towards kids. Hopefully if they do, it causes more of East Europe to Legalise sex sex marriage in response.
I try to avoid twitter and stuff, I feel it's too easy to get lost in so much negative news..But I was on Twitter to look at something else, and up pops an article about another recent missile strike by Russia and one of the pictures is a blurred photo of a four year old killed..
Yeah there's a lot of that. Russia's been targetting civilians all war long.
Some people have taken a liking to "let's show everyone the shock horror side of things, that'll get unanimous support behind Ukraine!", but really all I've seen is it cause more people to pivot to "Ukraine should surrender whatever it takes to get the killing to stop"
I think it causes more people to go with more of a: "That's horrible but I don't want to see stuff like that" and then they tune out all the news related to it...
