Hi guys, I’ve beaten all of hollow knight godhome ending on the earlier version. Then the new stuff came in like some texture fixes and Grimm breaking and my save data got deleted (200+ hours (because I played the whole game without outside googling and help)). That was like a year ago and now I’m interested in it again, I want to rebeat it before silksong port gets decently playable. I tried this link for 4 hours, getting to spire dreamer, but it’s still a white screen
Also, if dreamers were fixed, wouldn’t the file size be larger than 912.81?

I had a save from horizons version with 2/3 dreamers, and went to godhome, where I found broken nkg. So I downloaded bogs official (old) port to get to godhome and gave up speedrunning there cuz it’s boring. Then when I went back to my horizon save, it all got deleted and I was presented with select language. Then I reopened bogs and it stole the data. Now bog has a save file with 2/3 dreamers and dreamers not working, and taking out save data is not possible for that version. Am I stuck

since resolution slows it down a lot and decreasing it doesn't affect the way it looks on a small computer
unless i reconfigure the whole thing the way to do it would be to go to dev tools (before everything starts downloading), go to network, select the file listed named hktruffled.loader.json, right click it and select override content. select a random folder. then open that file in finder and cmd f for the line "0.8" (i believe that'sd what its set to, 80%). change that number to 1 and your set

the loading time will probably be difficult for bog to fix...since the way the devs made silksong is that it's one scene that they just add more stuff to, i guess that means they need to load much more at the start? idk. but also because they decided to only make it start to download after you hit the new save button
Load time is practically impossible to fix without using a insane amount of ram and preloading everything to run at once
honestly though I think it was definitely possible…using things like texture atlases and reducing the resolution of certain textures would already have a huge impact

it is now hk.html, and has good importing and exporting (though i haven't tested exporting). i have successfully optimized silksong, but...sadly i don't think i can fix silkspear. there isn't any error log explaining what happened

glitch what are you on all the logic is in the wasm or .bundle files. if it's anything like hk then the bundles are serialized meaning no tool can edit them and the wasm, knowing emscripten, is also oging to be very difficult to edit

This is Glitch's port using Imspeci@l's loader for better performance
In their ports the cutscenes are linked as *.resource
so i used Claude to help me and then it put a 1 second video file with nothing in it so it can run it

The starting cutscenes are impossible without changing bogs source code because its 2 cutscene differnt video files that are fused to 1 file which I think is impossible to do for web externally

It works my https://glitches-fixed-hollow-knight.vercel.app/ has working exporting real as well as importing real saves files, im now makes a script to export from other sources to real
@patent tusk heres a script that if you paste into console on truffles hollow knight or matter of fact any hollow knight it will export to a real save file that could be used on pc or on my version of the webport using the import real
I dont have the actual game on steam only the web port
It converts to the real saves data file so it could go into that but it also means you can upload it strait to my version at https://glitches-fixed-hollow-knight.vercel.app/ using the Import Real button then just reload the page and you have you save transfered
It basically makes it so you could use the save file anywhere
This is also so people who wanted to transfer there webport saves to the official hollow on pc they can without having to start over

I need source code for that all im doing currently is messing with player save file which is completely independent
And based on what ive seen from grim is the animation isn't set up properly which results in him not rendering which then results in the scripts failing because it cant render anything for it

Be more specific what are you exactly talking about, if your talking about the hollow knight source code from the webgl ive tried to get the assets out but it just wont give me the data that really matters such as assets and scripts
Already tried but every single thing needs to be fixed manually but I might attempt to do it again

On glitches-fixed-hollow-knight.vercel.app its the same source as the one of truffle but ive manually added in cutscenes, im actively working on my own port which will remove all problems with it and im using the newest hollowknight version
If you want to transfer your save file from truffle to mine or your own hollow knight on pc use the script ive sayed before

Depends on the game, sometimes not that hard, sometime you have to fix every tiny thing

Anyways progress report on my port, ive gotten the games movement to work but every texture is bugged but what ive found out is almost every animation rendering broke because asset ripper was dum

I might just leave the soul meter broken unless bog is willing to tell me how to fix it because ivr spent 5 hours trying and failing to fix it
I have a progress report on my port so far what i know will be a bugs i dont know how to fix it 1. Soul Meter Glitched, because it uses a masking feature i dont understand. 2. Stag Travel Menu Text, because looks like theres a script i cant identify that is automatically changing to font materials to a invisible material
If anyone has any tips for those problems tell me

I might do that, I think I might have an idea on what script is doing it it just has over 3000 lines I have to look through and debug which ones control what
Well i did something and messed up every single background and dont know what i did
I fixed it, also I can now confirm my port has every boss working that does mean grim and NKG works. All I need to realy do is fix lighting shaders in areas, change a few layouts a bit,fix up a few more enemys,fix the menu backgrounds quickly, and fix the 2 problems I sayed before then I have a perfect hollow knight port
But right now it already has all the core functionality working perfectly

Well i got it open but did something dum in project settings so it crashed on the intro cutscenes

Its crashing because its attempting to free up memory like if it was running on pc but that doent work on web
I just fixed the script causing it but im not trying to rebuild that all today because I just spent 5 hours importing files and compiling them

If there isnt any compilation errors for sending the project i could compile it
But maybe the uploading and downloading time would equal out

I delt with those first it wasn't an error it was just from me not changing how it handled ram correctly from pc to web

I'm trying to get them to nativity work from streaming assets but ive found out im going to have to probably have to rip out all the current stuff and recode it to work

I actually have another problem which is shaders for lights and menus because it makes a visible grid which i dont want

Its like a page that sits infront of the backgrounds that for some reason its texture was a grid build into, but its not needed so I just removed it
I'm also now gutting out the entire video system because there no way to make it full web compatibility till I remake everything because it uses .dll files to control it
I now have to redevompile hollowknight again to get certain scripts because I somehow curruoted them to the point they wont open
I do still have the main project if you get confused im still making the port

Well i figured out why the soul meter glitches the shader its supposed to use is replaced with a dummy shader
