Noice name!
Thanks, I made it 😛
Yay!
lol
i'll be sleep in 5 hours and awake in 6-7 more so I'll be around in 11-13 hours time if that fits in with your 10ish
Sure thing
^
standardised in being sorta round, mostly but sometimes not and someones metal on the outside and sometimes positive centre and lets just leave two bare ends of wire
they're standard enough we've got a box full of them

Here's what the thread name reminds me of...
LMFAO
TIL that I left an errant wifi card in there
Also I apparently fixed it by doing basic troubleshooting steps such as a hard reset to clear various state
I'm annoyed at myself for replacing the display
It's a pain to undo
Now the hall sensor isn't working is a bit iffy
Also I've accelerated the failure of the display cable
I tried to get a jack for my laptop from mouser and they didn't have that type in stock not even as a product
In a way aliexpress is better here
well, good news that it's now working
ever tried LCSC?
Not yet
I needed a acer plug 2.5/2.1mm
I found a official replacement for the entire charger but I'll search it up just for curiosity
Ps also nenovo was a pain
Curious
Now my computer will randomly go to sleep, shut down, or return to an unbootable state if I manipulate the angle of the display
something to do with that?
Something like that
My pet theory is that a short in the cable is causing weird behaviour
yar, could just be a loose connection making intermittent contact with something like the backlight and that's putting quick large loads on the power subsystem and causing it to reset/give up
didnt work
I think I've figured it out!
the internal battery is on the fritz
luckily my computer supports an external one so I have like 3 hours of battery life
all it took was two lacerations, a stripped screw, cracked backplate, and hours of my time
also cyanoacrylate glue is good at sealing wounds
on the bright side, my computer now works reliably as long as I don't change the angle of the display
sounds like it's time for another surgery to replace the display cable
or wait, changing the angle of the screen changes the internal battery connection?
nah
it's the Hall sensor
changing the angle of the display causes it to rapidly attempt to go into sleep mode
that's ... unfortunate
@summer sparrow doesn't this also give credence to the theory?
I assume that puts large-ish strains on the power supply
"comsplooter" is the compound term my mind has apparently been trying to form since first seeing the title of this thread
