standardised in being sorta round, mostly but sometimes not and someones metal on the outside and sometimes positive centre and lets just leave two bare ends of wire

Also I apparently fixed it by doing basic troubleshooting steps such as a hard reset to clear various state

I tried to get a jack for my laptop from mouser and they didn't have that type in stock not even as a product

yar, could just be a loose connection making intermittent contact with something like the backlight and that's putting quick large loads on the power subsystem and causing it to reset/give up

I think I've figured it out!

the internal battery is on the fritz

#

luckily my computer supports an external one so I have like 3 hours of battery life

#

all it took was two lacerations, a stripped screw, cracked backplate, and hours of my time

#

also cyanoacrylate glue is good at sealing wounds

#

on the bright side, my computer now works reliably as long as I don't change the angle of the display
