This is the most organized I’ve ever seen a new player

#

You don’t need nearly that many off shore pumps and check your boiler to engine ratio. The boiler doesn’t output enough for 3 engines

#

Pretty sure a single off shore pump covers that

#

Copper wire doesn’t have to touch a belt if you insert it from one assembler to the other

#

This looks really sick though

#

Definitely get that coal running to your boilers

#

And to your furnaces

Actually really good

#

But yeah as the first guy said, automate power production and less water pumps unless you're planning to make oil production too

would recommend feeding copper wires directly into green circut so u dont get limited by belt or insterter speed, prolly not an issue this early on tho

  • save yourself from hand-crafting, automate things like underground_belt, splitter, long_handed_inserter, fast_inserter, assembling_machine_2, electric_mining_drill, plus whatever you feel like you're using a lot of
  • expand your power production, and atomate the coal input. this little won't hold up for what the next science demands.
  • try and centralize your builds a bit. have a rule for how you handle things, such as ores coming in from the bottom, all the smelting being handled in X spot, and it cotntinuing to flow upwards, with it branching out left and right for other uses. if you use something a lot, merge it back into the main line.
  • this base is not bad, but it doesn't look like you've left room for anything to expand.
  • think: you want to double your electronic_circuit production. how would you break down that process?
  • that being said, knowing how much you need the first time is basically impossible, so don't feel bad about making mistakes.
  • if you're unsure, try to over-produce things, you'll most likely find a use for them later.
  • if it starts to get too much, break things down into smaller components.
    • power in one section, smelting goes here, my war crimes go next to the iron
    • advanced_circuit is too hard... ima not try and make it all in one place. ||oil_refinery in one place, plastic_bar in another. make a seperate electronic_circuit build, connect those 2 up and add in copper_cable... okay, this is way too little, but at least it's automated.||

  • if you're not happy with something, don't feel bad about tearing it down.
  • on the other hand, be sure to pat yourself on the back. you can always do better the next time, making something good-enough is really all you need to get by though.

in short, don't worry about it.

  • place down what your heart guides you.
  • if you're not getting as much as you were hoping for, simply build more till the bottlenecks disappear.

trying not to spoil too much, hope this is helpful. although I know you can't really take away from the experience. knowing how to do things on paper, and doing it in actuality is two different worlds.

Thank you all!! You all are very helpful and I appreciate the motivation, tips and guidelines and I appreciate that you guys (especially sejemsom) did it in a way that didn't reveal/spoil the game too much!!

#

Definitely gonna work on power first thing when I hop back on because I'm tired of hand-feeding these boilers :P

#

btw, you play with or without biters?

sudden hazel
#

At least in the area

#

I just used console to kill off areas that were getting affected by pollution

#

would've been my suggestion, think you made the right choice to take it easy and just enjoy the gane at it's purest form

update, getting the hang of it... just automated fast_inserter , gonna start on long_handed_inserter soon and then start expanding power production...

#

i barely get the chance to play and when i do im usually drunk =D

just making sure -- you limiting those chests, right?
