#Modlist UI
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Update: 2026.02.12
Some small new goodies:
- More accurate clean name column
- Mod count
-# - a freakin changelog - Copy button for easy-ish sharing ๐
IT WORKS.
IT BLOODY WORKS:
-# yes it needs crop/sizing optimizations, but that can be done later
Finally some progress. ๐ Properly sized thumbnails.
there you go, thumbnail info for pretty much all 2.0 mods (excluding the ones from wube)
Coming along nicely.
Not a personal fan of the style, and I wish the basic text_button or icon_button allowed some kind of sub-element ordering and spacing of text.
But it does sort, it does open up a collapsible accordion display of each mod, and it does respect scroll position. Need to deal with the Header text colours.
We are getting... so close, people.
Current Goals:
- Tightening up superfluous right margin and allignment of header buttons.
- Aligning accordion popout with row width.
- fleshing out the vanilla/space age base mods metadata and thumbnails so those are always at the top, available.
- (Re-)Adding in 3rd-party hooks/declarations so peoople can self-update/include their mods if my updates are too far and few between.
It looks so pretty
I think I might also reduce the "big" icon preview width/height so its in line with the size of the "tiny icon" + version column, and that way I can maybe fit more description width in it.
Looks very good. I'd suggest using the same filter button styles as mod list though, so it doesn't look out of place
I mean built in mod list
fair enough
Oh we are so happy with this, this gonna be pushed to prod tonight :3
If you want to be extra fancy, you can change the styles of buttons to highlight the entire row (instead of only labels like in the video)
Why is the font so grey?
Personal choice, stark white on anything dark isn't the most amazing thing to look at (like looking at a bright screen at night), so I tuned the alpha down a little, but I guess I can make it a bit brighter.
In the roadmap ^^
Literally every other UI does that though, including built in mod list. Its genuinely harder to read
Alright, I'll fold that in for the next update, thanks for the feedback
Also it would be better to use a locale fallback in case when author isn't known, to not say "by "
Nice catch, thanks, will do.
Would you say using this might be cool as a tiny version of "no thumbnail" or should I leave it blank?
Would be cool
I don't know if you prefer suggestions on the mod portal or here, but it's a pretty small one so I'll make it here:
Being able to see and sort by the mod's Category could be interesting. So "Overhaul", "Content" would be the most major, going down to "Tweaks", "Internal".
Vanilla mods would have "Base" and "DLC" categories.
Having the current sort order apply to the "Copy Modlist" function would be good too.
Textbox to Copy/Paste an individual mod's portal URL so you can quickly Alt-tab and reference it.
Having the current sort order apply to the "Copy Modlist" function would be good too.
I can definitely do this, that isn't an issue, but I fear feature bloating the mod list as a ModPortal-Lite for category sorting would start becoming a bit unwieldy/visual bloat/open the floodgates for every other thing, like download count, etc.
I'm almost tempted to petition Wube to just make a runtime read-only version of the mod-manager
Textbox to Copy/Paste an individual mod's portal URL so you can quickly Alt-tab and reference it.
An integrated mini textbox would definitely be a nice idea. Haven't tried putting URL's directly into a UI and seeing if it renders a clickable link, but that or a text-box as you say would be a neat QoL
The reason I suggested it is so I can see "Which mods in my game are the most important ones?". Naturally, I would think Category is the answer to that.
But I can see why you want to avoid having too many columns. Unless you make a Settings interface where you could toggle them on/off. Is becoming ModPortal-Lite not your goal? ๐
My original design goal was a minimal "Streamer is asked 'what mods are you using' " reference UI. A URL copy-paste input fits in that, but its difficult to quantify "Which mods are important to me" because that can be spread across "utility" or "logistics" or " overhaul" etc. But no, not a Mod-Portal Lite. Thats what the actual mod manager is for.
E.g, I like Merging Chests, Or Extractor, Factory Organizer, Rate Calculator, Simple Adjustable Inserters [delta], and Loaders.
These are more important than say, "Train Painter" or "Disco Science", but they all spread across at least 3-4 of the same categories.
How would you then quantify the "important for you" QoL mods vs. the "not as important QoL, much less for every other category as well?
Its a suggestion I can see myself adding in for flavor, but not for sorting, I'd need some kind of clickable "chips"/"tags" based filter.
Well no, I'm not expecting you to make the mod psychic. (But if you know how, please share it with us!)
