personally i'd just use normal belts instead of a mess of undergrounds, though

I just got trains and I watched a video ( to be fair it was like 2 years old) that said trains are soo good at transport.

normally people do mining->belt->train, train->belt->machines

You get more miners by having them closer

The thing is that the speed of miners is constant, regardless of how much or little ore they overlook. Its good to cover all of the Patch so you can make use of all of the ore inside it - but by not spacing out miners, you can cram more on the patch, meaning the ore gets transported faster from the ground onto your belts

but otherwise i go with dense drill placement
but no matter what, i always cover the entire patch
