Specifically for the ascendacies?
and orbital rings :3

ah a bunch of people they hate joined
problem: theyre the strongest empire in the galaxy
I hate how finnicky federations are in Stellaris. I wish they'd just rework them.
It also tends to spiral
its the League of Non Aligned Powers too
Someone joining causes a dip in cohesion,
And someone leaving also causes a dip in cohesion.
Kinda like with diplomatic agreements, losing one can cause the federation to look bad and cause more people to quit, which causes more quitters, and suddenly it's gone.
it's a bit
dumb
You can set them to automatically develop and manage themselves.
(And of course there are now diplomatic maluses for having broken up a federation, so they don't want to speak to you anymore either)
You press the button and it does it
At least that's how it used to work.
I think if you click on the Sectors button you can allocate resources from your treasury to a "sector fund" that the AI governor will use in pursuit of whatever goal you set.
Usually that goal is just "build stuff that matches the planetary designation"
Oh yeah, you can (or could) automate whole sectors as well.
Probably build cities and amenities, maybe food.
Is a fleet with strength 2n stronger than two fleets with strength n combined?
Depends on the ships themselves.
In raw ship strength numbers, they're equal.
Provided the targeting algorithm doesn't fuck up.
Oh it’s my like 180-200k fleet stack v a 167k AE home station and a colossus
smaller ships usually also need to go closer to engage and arrive to engage faster compared to larger ships because of smaller weapons, so it'll take hits first
carriers and other ships with extreme engagement range can often smear out enemy fleets with varying composition and lets you engage the faster ships first (usually the smaller ones)
or if you have good ballistic tech, autocannons
good tracking compared to other L weapons, so it can counter corvette evasion. fast rate of fire and lower damage for less wasted overkill damage
also, as weapons tech increases, corvettes and eventually even destroyers run the risk of just getting killed in a single shot. Can't disengage from that.
Iirc you can turn off disengagement, can't you?
there are admiral traits that decreases disengagement chance. never heard of it being able to be turned off entirely
one of the War Doctrine policies removes(?) disengagement chance and increases fire rate, "No Retreat". But that takes one of the unity trees to gain access. And the flip side, of course, is that while you do more damage and ships will fight to their last, any losses are total and getting into a bad engagement results in the unconditional loss of your fleet, unless it survives long enough to manually engage a Emergency FTL, which can also incur losses.
Does this mean a 20 battleship doom stack is superior to my 5/10/20/40 battleship/cruiser/etc build?
Ooh I need to play around with war doctrine then
I like using smaller ships as a sort of smokescreen for if the enemy outranges me.
Let them get killed while my bigger ships move into range.
No idea if it actually works though, not the least because I haven't played the game in 2 years.
So maybe 15/40 then
I had assumed that's what they were asking about.
I see
I’m up against an AE; what would you put in
One AE has been attrit down to 400k and the other is still at like 1M but is passive enough for now
Nothing impact's an enemy's ability to retreat, except for emergency FTL inhibitors like starbase modules and... cosmic storms? One of those system weather modifiers
Black holes
this is my cruiser and my battleship for reference
holy shit nvm the AEs are at 2M each
anyway yeah ship design tips appreciated 🙂
and uhh for bonus points here's the juggernaut
The cruiser actually probably wants an artillery comp
@karmic bluff @sweet jungle are both these designs good?
Yes and yes
It was the longest ranged thing I had
same reason the kinetic artillery is on the battleship
ok swapped out a kinetic battery on the battleship for a plasma cannon for some armour damage and switched to disruptors on the juggernaut
Gonna try and lure them into a neutron star system; do I want plasma cannons on all the defense platforms?
Ok as long as I don’t get a 1.5M stack dropped on me I think I can survive, albeit badly
My fleets get roughed up but I’m using it as an excuse to switch to the new fleet designs
When do I unlock the AE ability to pull ten trillion fleets out from the back of the sofa
I can contain one AE I think but not kill it yet; don’t think I can kill the other either
