so you can't use electric poles because the atmosphere is too corrosive? how does that not prevent you from using basically anything?

minor grove
#

You can't place any power transmission structures

mint girder
#

yes, but it says that's because atmospheric causticity is too high, but how does that only prevent you from using electric poles?

minor grove
#

Handwavium you can't string copper wire between the poles

No copper products will be allowed either

mint girder
#

but how tf does nothing else get effected by that?

well steel and stone can still be corroded

EMF in the atmosphere is way too high, causes electronics and power to go haywirr and/or explode, nonmagnetic and nonconductive matetials are unaffected

you could also say "atmospheric conductivity is too high"

Oh I don't know that idea is not related to this planet

In response to the question of how copper corrodes but iron, stone, etc don't - AFAIK copper is more easily corroded by ammonia than the other materials listed. So presumably an atmosphere that was rich in ammonias would prevent copper from lasting. Obviously in a 100% real-world situation, ammonia levels that high would introduce a whole host of other problems, but it's a starting point for a restriction that's rooted in lore and real-world science 🙂

The constant fluctuations in the magnetic field induces volatile currents in wires, melting them/causing surges

I'm currently working with Chlorine and Mercury Vapor in the atmosphere

As the resources and tech tree kinda expect that

Also Eddie currents would be much stronger, meaning copper structures aren’t possible

fair moth

(funny because literally every other mod adds chlorine as like an automation-level tech)

It'll come from vents just like sulfuric acid on Vulcanus

then find a usage for the byproduct sodium hypochlorite too

minor grove

There's two different liquids on the planet

Mercury and Magnisum Chloride Brine

#

The latter has a water reduction recipe
