oh so that's what the recent inserter posts were about, interesting
It's actually a very fun concept tbh. While I am biased, the idea is most certainly carrying me.
i should really try some custom planet mods, have been sticking to space age & krastorio, but so many fun ones worth thowing in
The biggest benefits of a planet mod are: 1) you can add them to an existing save (usually), and 2) You can try a wacky idea that isn't enough to warrant a whole overhaul mod

The mod doesn't allow anything from Renai to oppose the wind.
I think it would take me more time and effort to implement that

Kiplacon would need to implement that (or an interface) to allow me to do it smoothly
realistically, I would want renai thrower inserters and bounce pads (etc) to shift the landing position of any thrown/bounced item by +3 tiles in X, or something like that
but that also makes throwers really terrible to use in practice, so I'd be asking Kiplacon "Please spend time messing with a core feature of your mod, so people would want to use it less in my one use case."
I want to try more planet mods… but the hassle of space travel has just worn me down and I haven’t touched any actual Space Age saves in a little while 😅
Does this work with Space is Flat or another spaceless SA mod? Looking for recommendations where I can just shoot rockets from planet to planet 😅
(probably No Space Platforms is the one to go with, I just don’t know if it’s compatible with other planet mods)

That sort of compatibility is going to come later, tbh
Rubia’s crafting chain makes it extremely difficult to craft Nauvis sciences, with support for any of them being added after the planet is clear.
Yeah, no, I think it just lets you launch rockets from planet to planet (and changes white science), which can be a nice streamlining 😅
So, hypothetically should work with planet mods…
I relish that challenge…

Out of curiosity: do you have any provisions to keep players from using wagons or rocket silos as leftward transportation?
Oh, I would think that the wind is far too brutal for trains to run…
(And inserters can pass left so idk how they would work as stationary transports).

Wagons are allowed leftward transport on the planet, but you need to use my planet’s unique trains. These trains are unlocked late, and are major gas-guzzlers
inserters can only insert to the right on my planet
inserters and splitters have the most severe restrictions, by necessity

The wind blocks most normal trains from being placed on my planet. You need special, heavily armored trains that consume a lot of fuel capable of driving upwind.
Ah, I figured right, up, or down, but I see in the preview image it’s right only
Ah, got it. For some reason I also thought the constraint was "no left", rather than "right only"
“no left” is the constraint for most constrained entities. Inserters and splitters are unique because you can really easily cheese things.
for example, “no left” applies to belts, underground belts, renai bounce pads,…. i forget but there is a much bigger list
and FYI Renai, bobs, and Jan’s adjustable inserters are fully supported

After the latest patch I was able to open up Rubia for planetary logistics!
