#Combinator-Wiki

nice ^-^
what would be the best way to organize this? cos if I dump all my BPs 1 per message or smth, it'd be too chaotic
do we need a spreadsheet maybe? idk
i will soon-ish link some of the designs from the combinator channel in this thread
go ahead and make google sheet
I am thinking of making a spreadsheet and post BPs + summary + screenshots there, as a staging area for ppl to potentially provide feedback on them before posting them on the wiki? idk if that's the best way to organize things
I think if we just used this thread directly it'd be too chaotic cos there are dozens of BPs just in my book, likely dozens more including others' BPs
the other thing I'm wondering about is, when do we decide that a BP is "good to go"? xd
i would start with the very basics like a 2.0 sr latch
when 1-2 of the smart ppl say that they have no better solution
also maybe we should ping phflack/justarandomgeek/meddleman as I suspect they may be interested in contributing/providing feedback, not sure who else might be? or at least tell them about this when we next see them in chat
I guess it'd be good to categorize things between "tutorial/basic concept" and "cool mini BP"
most of the stuff in my book falls under the latter xd
cos most of it is minimized combinator count to do something someone asked about in #combinators
I'll go set up a google sheet
just gonna share it with editor access, I doubt there'd be vandalism
in case there is, we can restrict edit access to contributors
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/112UJgB3KfZ0gFVOvmCsUHk2GuTnABSzNs2pp0_Mbqek/edit?usp=sharing
there's version history if something bad happens
nice idea to do a 2.0 combinator wiki!
@loud moon @teal mulch @karmic saddle sorry for the pings. however, you are considered "the smart ppl" here. ^^
we want to improve the wiki and put the good things from this channel onto the wiki. would be awesome, if you could check the things, before they are put up there
Last I heard the wiki is undergoing some structural changes, have those been completed?
afaik the wiki is not for "completed solutions"
True, and instead could include "formulaic" solutions. That is, modular tools that can be achieved to do functional things.
Like an updated latch, or clock, or memory cell.
I am sure this wont interfere with us putting some basic combinator stuff up there.
Short of getting stuck in Edit Hell or an Edit War, perhaps we can establish a small sandbox area where we can let mods/combinator experts look over and approve on proposals for a finished article, or parts of.
Then when the structural changes to the wiki are complete, its simply a matter of uploading them.
Since things like clock or memory cell are already up there, i am sure updating, providing bps and making sure everything is nice and neat won't hurt anyone.
We can also discusse it here and ask Bilka to accept afterwards, before its put on the wiki. And since only a few edit the wiki, I am sure no edit wars will happen.
So this thread would be the sandbox.
Moreover, most solutions are already discussed anyways; everyone here is using the same SR-Latch.
2.0 brought so many nice designs, should contain some of them for education purposes
word!
I think the spreadsheet template is ready, if we are going with the spreadsheet approach for gathering feedback
That looks like a lot of effort. 😄 Let's try not to go too ham on this.
I'm happy to go ahead and add the BPs from my book to that spreadsheet, if that's the approach we're going with ^-^
Go ahead
maybe also @tawdry jacinth
shall we ask Bilka as well?
also pls excuse me if i have forgotten anyone else. i just recently became active again.
taking screenshots is annoying ^-^
gotta go get that mod that lets you open multiple windows
I'd personally begin pinging devs directly once we have something of substance to show for it.
And even when we do, its better etiquette to perhaps disseminate any work we've accomplished via the forums.
Discord is nice and all, but it isn't the best place for such refinement work.
is the spreadsheet a good place to collect things for refinement or no?
For now, to make a rough starting point.
We may move onto somehting more substantial as time goes on. Confluence/Azure/...i actually don't know of a platform useful this except those two.
alright then I'll slowly add stuff ^-^
I'm spending a lotta time trying to make the wires as untangled as possible xd
idk if it's worth doing that
this is what I got the exact insert to
it used to be this in my book
Consider using the modern Editor Extensions and Blueprint Sandbox.
Its a much nicer blueish grid.
probably not any time soon, he did a huge amount of work for that one
Azur seems to be very ambitious for a single wiki articel. But lets see were this goes.
But would you say, the forum is the place for discussion or the place to present the (almost) finished parts?
We can't know if we're only keeping this on the "Combinators" article, or if its better spread out over several articles.
And yes.
Is this yes agreeing to the statement about azur or to agree with 'place for discussion' or to agree with 'finished parts'?
@bleak musk i just saw, you are collecting parameterized blueprint as well. maybe, if you feel like it, add them here, too.
i thought this was just wiki content
what are the devs being pinged about?
basically just asking bilka, if they have any wishes or suggestions for the article. also making sure it is not wasted effort because of the restructuring of the wiki
ah
I actually wanted to ask if I could join lol
If you're fine with a beginner with limited brain cells, then i would be happy to.
- gate keeping stinks
- who am i to judge, whether you are worthy
- the more the merrier
- just share what you got
- the more you do the less i have to do lol
How to put images into a cell:
- Paste image
- Click cell
- Click triple dots in the top-right of the image
- "Put image in selected cell"
(Though too bad Google Sheets still doesn't have a "click image to enlarge" feature)
(I've fixed all images that were not placed into a cell)
tysm for your hard work.
sorry for being inactive. i got a lot of lemons and i am busy making lemonade
might have time in April
