#Load Balanced, but not really?

I made a load balancer for my buffer/train unloader thingy. works great. I end up with one belt, full on both sides.

However, the assemblers further along are not mirrored on both sides of the belt - so one side of the belt is emptied faster than the other. Any ideas on how to keep the load balanced with unbalanced inserters pulling from it?

Most of the time it isn't an issue
If you have a really large throughput discrepancy it can cause issues, but it can be ignored

yeah this ^^

#

are you actually having issues with the train unloading because of the belts being used unevenly?

#

if this is the case, you can actually add balancers that balance both lanes of the belt to prevent this from happening, but in the majority of cases it's not needed

It's called a lane balancer

in that case like cryochick said, look for a lane balancer for the number of belts you have (they don't exist for all belt configurations tho i don't think, so you have to combine different ones if needed)

#

the raynquist balancer blueprint book is one you can find online, it'll have many in there, including a lane balancer for single lanes which i assume is what you'd want here since you said it's one belt going to assemblers

the big chests are from a mod (Py)

That

#

Isn't a balancer

#

And not even an applicable excuse for a balancer

interesting

You CAN use a chest or similar to balance but it has to be ONE

#

I'd also heavily recommend against using massive chests often, they can be very UPS intensive

so I should just be buffering with a single steel chest at most?

A single steel chest is tiny

indeed

The laggy part is these inventories tend to be massive and the game doesn't like massive inventories

#

Also a steel chest isn't enough to balance off of

thank you for all the info. I really appreciate it. back to the drawing board (and youtube videos)

What you can do here

#

Use a normal chest buffer
Just balance 2 wagons together with a splitter then balance the other 2
Take those 2 streams into a third splitter
Then you have 2 half belts coming out of it

#

Sideload one of those two halves and you have 1 belt

makes sense

Basically a splitter pyramid then sideload it

#

Balancing 2 belts is just 1 splitter keep this in mind
