yea yours are much better than mine.. i partly ended up where i was because of the size of the scrap deposits

i initially built in the two islands above and to the left of the current main one
the red arrow is the route that kept getting hit by lightning, mostly during the period where i was moving islands
i got really lucky with that huge one i settled on, i think its two islands that spawned too close to eachother and fused together
oh and the space between the top two islands they would perma-die on as well
but honestly, it was just like playing SE with robot attrition and it was absolutely not a big deal, you can make robots much faster than they die even if you have hundreds of them flying over the lightning zones (provided the route isnt super long), it's just that the popup noise is annoying and you cant turn it off without turning off ALL destruction alerts, i think

at this point i do, and i didn't build any rails at all before i got the tech to place them on the ocean, the initial scrap patches on the big islands lasted me until then
