im not to much of a rail guy but ive been wanting to design a rail cityblock for use in my expantion base and ive been putting it off cuz i wanna know how i could implement elevated rails into the blueprints to improve throughput/convenience
any tips/screenshots showing use of elevated rails would be greatly apreciated

from what i understand, the main benefit of elevated rails is either going over terrain you cant normally, such as lava or oil ocean til you can fill them. or bypassing intersection crossings partially, theres multiple designs people have done where they avoid perpendicular rails crossing
so mostly just higher throughput intersections?
or passage over previously difficult areas
such as leaving cliffs, or water in place
yeah but i was mostly considering the consequences for city blocks on nauvis so that doesnt impact me much, tho might be usefull when i start colonising my 1st planets

More so than normal rails. If a biter runs into it, it will not like that it was blocked.
Does the pathing not go around? Do the bitters ignore it unless enraged or blocked?
They may go around, but if for whatever reason they walk into it they will destroy it. Same reason they eat power poles.
Or walls.
the biggest bonus for city block is the fact it has less interruptions from other trains
maybe you could build almost the entire rail network as elevated rails and build your factory below it 🙂
assuming your factory has space slots to allow the pylons to be placed, railways can literally go across your factory instead of around or requiring the factory to be split up
not sure if it matters much, but it would be cool
