Automated turret ammo system :red_wire:

Hello. I'm trying to make a belt system going around my walls and inserting the ammo into gun turrets if the value is < 20. I've made a buffer chest after the assembly factory and set the inserter to only put ammo in if the box has < 100. All of the inserters are connected with red wire all the way to the assembly area. But they just won't work and I can't figure out why.

I know I could just ditch electronics, but I just want to learn using them.

Just like Assemblers, Turrets have a max internal capacity when filled by inserters. I think it stops around 10 or so

An Inserter will never fill a building all the way to as much as you can manually put in

Ok. Good to know. I still don't understand why is nothing working, it says, "disabled by control behaviour".

Oh. I just removed the ammo from the buffer chest and the inserters began to work. But once they get filled up, they stop too. I'm confused

I feel like this system is going to have very high ping (time between ammo used and put into the gun)
If five farthest turrets shoot all of their ammo, how much time will they need to refill?

Idk how much time, but farthest turret from the assembly is about 300 belts away

Are you trying to limit the total amount of ammo in turrets at once?

I mean if it'll go by 10 at a time it will need 10 trips for 10 turrets

I put every ammo inserter to only input if the ammo < 20.
And I have 40 turrets

Why do you even wire the gun inserters? What do you want from them?

By default, inserters load gun turrets when they have less than 10 ammo remaining.

You CANNOT make them load more than that.

So why wire it up at all?

Gun inserters. Some have green lights and some red lights, but not one is inputing the ammo.

I wire gun inserters to only produce ammo when there's the need. I don't want to have a full 300 belts filled with ammo.

You've wired all the inserters together. They're all reading the same signal, which has nothing to do with the ammo in the turrets.

There's three options:

• Bloodbus - reading the contents of every belt and adding to
• Counter - using a counter circuit to count the ammo moved by turret inserters and putting it back to belt
• Average - keeping a non-full belt with some speed below 15, e.g. 1 ammo per second

Average doesn't really need logic, it's quite literally two inserters and a box

Can you even attach a wire to a turret? If not, this whole attempt is pointless. A completely different tactic would need to be used (at least some of which are described above by Dimava)

• I don't know how to set up an buffer-chest-to-belt inserter to read the signals of the whole network to only work while there's demand for it.

I had a basic idea, put it into ChatGPT (which claimed this was apparently possible), made some modifications and when I saw nothing is working, I've come here to ask some questions.

It's my first time using wires, I'm a total noob. But in the opening screen of the game I've seen an interesting system for delivering an ammo so I was curious if it was possible or not.

I'm a bit dissapointed there's no bigger tutorial & tips for wires/electronics, I've some ideas but don't know where I can find tips online.

There is no way to read this, or any way to force it to happen

I would recommend a one-way belt (you appear to have a looping belt right now) in which you fill only 1 side of it. This is about 4 ammo per belt tile.

If you want to make a constant amount of items on belt you need
