#How to go from 3 belts to 2 xd
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Fairly new to the game so im just wondering if im doing it correctly in this picture? Each iron belt has 15 miners connected to it. I take all tips thankuu <3
Why is it you're compressing it down to 2 belts?
1 for iron plates only and one for iron plates -> steel
Got it. So a balancer is going to give you 2 belts that are each 75% full. Is that what you want, or do you want a full belt going one way and a half belt going the other?
None of your original 3 belts are 100% full
15 Electric Miners fills 0.5 yellow belts
ahh i see
so yea 75% would be optimal in my case
the iron vein isnt big enuf for more drills
honest balancing is overrated imop
compressing imop is better
Usually yes, but they want to split evenly between Iron and Steel furnace stacks
is what im doing semi correct in the pic above?
the "good" checklist?
1. does it work?
2. does it require no player input?
3. do all the machines work as much of the time as possible?
Yours is good enough if uneven draw from the miner belts is ok.
If you want to make it "perfect", this would be a 3:2 balancer:
can be found in the balancer compilation link in the first bot command
there's caveat though: miner belts often have imbalanced lanes. a balancer that isn't a lane balancer will not help as much
As long as all the inputs flow smoothly it's fine.
I prefer to make sure my interior miners are prioritized because they take the longest to be used up. Making sure it's balanced means it drains the outside quicker and the mine lowers throughput slowly and steadily, the way I prefer is sharper and more sudden but takes longer
Keep in mind I'm saying prefer
There's different ways to do things
I like the way I do cause it preserves higher throughput longer and is easier to build
thank you all for your responses! I saw the drills had more yield in the middle yea but not sure how to fully utilize that fact yet
You can set priority inputs/outputs on splitters.
A 4 to 2 throughput unlimited balancer would work. But it depends on how balanced you want the draw to be.
