#@Maltsi Train Fixes

Can I first ask how you have your trains generally configured? I see a few stackers and I'm guessing trains leave their [L] as soon as they are full and make their way to a [U] station, and if applicable, wait at a stacker until a [U] platform is available?
Or are the stackers mostly for empty trains waiting for ana available [L] platform?

Also, that east-west bypass over the "V" is probably causing some issues that a roundabout might be able to fix.

My goal is to find out if you can reduce superfluous traffic overall, and secondly route trains around each other, rather than across each other.
all of my station are made with dynamic train limits. most of them request only 1 train at a time when the resources drops below threshold. some are requesting up to 2 trains max (these haves buffers)
Limit=1 for train stop?
and yes they are waiting at the station untill loading station haves enough resources for full train, however that is always true and in reality they never actually have to wait
If I'd make any changes, I'd firstly try to just have a Train Number โ [L] platform count, and treat loading stations as an overall global "stacker".
Each of these are always hard-set to Train-Lim=1
Your trains would always default to going back to their [L] station, and either trickle load, or sit there, full, waiting for an available [U] station.
Each of your [U] stations would then be dynamically Train-lim'd between 0 and 1, depending on if their resource threshold drops, as you mentioned.
This eliminates the need for any stackers, saving space, and reducing train-count.
Oh yeah they are waiting full in loading stations if there are no space for unloading
i do need stackers in some places (or even in most what i currently have) since resources are coming so far away that i actually need 2 trains to keep them loaded
I don't know the specifics of your TrainStation -> Smeltery setups, but unless you can Buffer Chest -> Belt faster than, or as fast as your Train -> Buffer Chest, then usually buffer chests eliminate needing a train waiting directly behind the other. But I'll assume you do.

That western T intersection looks like it might have a few chains out of order or missing, because I can't imagine one train is holding up the rest out of malice.
Some spot in that area is preventing trains from safely bypassing a bit more efficiently, probably close to the entry to a station.
i think it is this one. at least i don't see signal issues
it is actually that intersection which gets the most traffic now that i have tried fixing the V section on the right side
some times everything looks good and then suddenly every train decides to get on rail at the same time and everything halts
This might be the culprit of everything. It is very confusing intersection too since the lane directions goes like this (from left to right), down/Up/down/down/up/up
i think those which are in the middle going down (or the second from left going up) causes issues since they need to cross lanes
Can you make a "parallelogram" shaped roundabout there instead?
forgive my atrocious fingerpaintings
hmm that could work indeed. ill start working on that immediately and see how it goes
It ended up not working. So i went ahead and redid the entire section, most notably the V section
seems to actually work now pretty darn well
Had to also make it so that trains coming from bottom cannot turn left, so now they instead go else where and thus spreads out my trains more
and also minimizes rail crossings
I could probably host a game tomorrow and you can hop in and make a save from that. Its 3am now and i really need to stop lol
indeed. I was also just going for a walk and ill be back in about 30min or so
i would be ready btw
awesome, chuck us a server name/joining code per dm if you want
name Maltsi1 and pw Maltsi2
kk
oh right i forgot to turn of mods, well its not like there are many and none of them are required for this save to work
Should be here, but not seeing anything yet
ill check if i put the right name
should be now, forgot to check the public tick box
yeah i can see its taking a while lol. well its pretty big base too
ok 60ms really shouldn't be a big deal
if it fails again then i can disable mods and see if that helps
it did let you finish downloading the map, maybe you can now just press continue game and its there?
