#Channel Restructuring Feedback

The best channel đ
It is a surprisingly useful tool
And they said we didn't have memes.
Neat, I can hide the 80% of channels that I don't use.
That's been an option for quite a while already
Now with less buttons!
This description doesn't make much sense any more, that fits more into #mod-dev-help
Would you like the opportunity to fuel my laziness pick a new description
"dis is da pwase fow moddie discuzzie-wuzzies! UwU⊠nyAAA!"
Uh... Not sure how much you'd have to pay me to make it that but it would be a lot of money
I am finding myself creatively bankrupt at the moment
by comparison?
General discussion about making mods is accurate but boring
This just in: Factorio Expansion... Creatively Bankrupt?
I asked ChatGPT... it came up with actually a good answer then the page refreshed and I'm not going to re-write the prompt.
@timid mortar Hope that one is to your liking
It works đ
It would be nice to have separate threads for some of the big mods. I remember when I was trying to talk about Industrial Revolution 3, I didn't get a lot of responses because people are mostly playing different mods.
As far as I know, the big mods like that all have their own discord servers
I'm not sure there's a place where they're all linked from though. It might be useful to have a repository of links like that somewhere. Maybe someone could just make a post for it and have it pinned in #modded-chat.
For that I would recommend using the Forum Feature, where Mod Makers could post a link to there discord, there mod page & explain some of there mods. That could use some tags & with the search feature of forums its much better then a regular channel
And that post could also be used for feedback & updates, if wanted
It'll take a bit of getting used to, but it's nice I can hide the channels I don't use instead of using favourite channels to split out the ones I do.
Discoverability for the help/mod sections when you don't know about the browse channels enable feature is a bit rough, it might be good to default the channels to active and then let people thin them out further? (Not sure at all about this)
I've added another option to the join quesstions for mod making id:customize
We've had a chat and decided to allow everyone to make threads in the public channels and see how that goes so now if you want to have a long conversation about IR3 you can make a thread in the appropriate channel.
if true that is probably adequate
Am I the only one that's missing the Subreddit channel? It feels like no one else has even noticed it's gone.
that kind of confirms how little people were actually using it
it didn't really offer anything different than just browsing the subreddit by new anyway
I am already appreciating this. Definitely feeding my habit of arguing on the internet for longer than I should.
the quick questions & question forum vanished for me, discord suggested "some" of them so i had to subscribe to the help category, there might be others that haven't realized it đ
That's why we made the announcement
it didn't register to me that a new category got added, and discord only shoved the modded ones in my face
And fortunately/unfortunately, I spent zero time answering posts on reddit yesterday. Needing to press F5 and notice a subtle difference in link color is something I am not going to keep doing on pc, and most assuredly not something I'm going to do from my phone. But I get it if no one else was using it.
I wonder how difficult it would be to set up that autopost in my own discord. Anyone know what bot was posting those?
It's not something I use but it must've been made for a reason right? Dunno why it'd be removed since the game has only grown over time.
Yeah, it's often hard to find the relevant server (use Google Search and pray), and in cases like IR3, it doesn't even exist.
Thanks! :)
Why is #mod-dev-showcase a normal kind of channel? Wouldnât it make more sense of it were like #1217403366796431380 ?
can we useâinstead of âfor the help category? the red color is very distracting
Thanks for posting the announcement, wouldn't have known to right-click --> show all channels otherwise (because it got reset for some godforsaken reason)
I felt as if the majority of #1217403366796431380 posts were going to be long form discussions about a single thing, so a "channel" would be good to have for each post
in contrast, I think #mod-dev-showcase is going to have a majority of quick posts that don't warrant discussion, like galdoc posting his minisembler art and such
if people do want long form discussion in #mod-dev-showcase over a long period of time, then they can create a thread off of their post
the other advantage with it not being a forum is that anyone can look at the channel and scroll back chronologically to see everything people are working on, instead of having to click/scroll through a bunch of posts
there's also #mod-dev-discussion if people just want to talk about something someone posted quickly, without creating a whole new "channel" for it every time
Youâll have to pick another emoji since that doesnât work well in light mode
But I am happy to change it
light mode? what's that
i get that, though you are gonna have to tell people "no talky" every other day or so :V
yeah I don't mind that honestly
once enough people know it won't happen anymore, if at all
every other day might be a bit of an overstatement, but itll definitely come up like once every week or two
here's a lil bit from the se server
even when its right in the channel description >.<
Oh boy that channel is gunna have a lot of ghost messages. The channel name will be white but there won't be anything new there.
to be fair that is the SE server where people drop in constantly
and playing SE is much more common than making mods
so here I don't think it will be as bad
I started to think I was going crazy until I check #announcements
Switched to Light Mode out of curiosity, could see the gif just fine.
