#renaming the channel description of blueprint designing

That's not how threads work :P
it doesnt??
+faq BP requests || Please post blueprint requests to #quick-questions, #blueprint-designing is for collaborative design and feedback
Could not find "Bp Requests" or any similarly named tags in FAQ tags.
Would you like to search the wiki?
It pinged me, though that may be because I was added automatically
I think moving the area where people ask for blueprints isnt the best option, but instead try to make them collaborate with us on designing blueprints
"no blank sheets, show us what you tried befork asking for help"
I think just having a +faq for that would be helpful. And maybe it shouldn't be "forbidden" to ask for BPs, but it would help to have a standard template for explaining the purpose of #blueprint-designing
or... reminding people of the purpose of #blueprint-designing
This has been discussed before, and the general concensus was that adding it as an faq will make it appear very impersonal and possibly combative
i think that there are some times where asking for a blueprint makes sense but its kinda hard to discern the differente between "i want a bp for military science (i havent done it before and im lazy)" and "i want a bp for military science (i've done it before and just want to progress)"
i'm not sure this particular discord is the best place for simply asking for given blueprints, but asking questions like "what makes for a good X blueprint" are on topic.
pushing people to ask that, and look at factorio.school should be the default answer to people asking for blueprints imo
answering their blueprints requests is tricky because if you send them to factorio.school they probably will get a BP thats not working or isnt working to its full potential. And its against what I would call part of the puzzle of factorio which is figuring out these complex production lines
yes, which is why i think it should be pushing people to ask what makes a good BP
that is good, and doesnt need a faq as that comes out as impersonal and rude
I guess the faq text could be... nice?
"#blueprint-designing is mostly for discussions and collaboration for designing/improving designs. Blueprint requests are not banned, but the purpose of #blueprint-designing is not to provide ready-made blueprints."
even if the faq is nice, it still comes from a bot 🤷♂️
true, but atm it's quite up to individual users how to respond, and that can be even more combatitive
That's why the pin was put up, to serve as guidance there
and it could very well be that someone has a cool design that's relevant and want to share it
but it shouldn't be expected
but I agree, it's hard to communicate that
also the pin that I think Fireball was referring mostly applies to modded content IMO... But I don't think vanilla "give GC bp pls" are wanted either?
i think this is bad for modded too but kinda less bad
it is very broad, it mostly mentions modded but it does try to apply to all BPs
but on the other hand it's not a huge issue in the channel atm, so...
its hard to make a message like that and not be too harsh
yeah its not a huge issue
could there be a "Please read x pinned message before requesting Blueprints" in the top bar?
but the problem would still exist... people who don't read the top bar are the same ppl asking for the BPs
the "worst case" scenario IMO would be someone spamming #quick-questions #vanilla-chat and #blueprint-designing with the same "Anyone got a BP for x?"
I think that sums up my thoughts too. While it is a mildly annoying issue, it's not big and it's pretty hard to fix
then we can tell them not to spam while also explaining why its hard to give a very specific blueprint and that it ruins part of the puzzle of the game
admittedly i brought this up because of a specific thing yesterday but i hadnt noticed the pinned message saying to not ask. knowing that message is there is helpful
