#2 trains vs single two-way rail
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
To let a train go both ways on a rail, the signals need to be on both sides of the track, in the little white box that you can see on the opposite side of the rail from the signal
Currently, you have two one-way rails pointing at each other
It’s highly recommend to start with one way rail as you’re learning trains
Two way is extra complication for little gain
Thank You! got it fixed. very useful picture. I think I understand the nature of the rail signals more now 😛
Yea, I tried to be smart :P. I think for the future 2 one way rails is the way to go about it 😛
The picture was from the train-help pinned posts.
This one may be interesting too
A two way network can operate decently well, it just needs a lot of these bypasses
I almost always use one way rails, because they have far greater throughput and don't require extras such as those bypasses.
I only use two-way rails when there are space constraints, but then only where needed. (e.g. if you need to ship a new material into your main base, but there isn't any free space left and the total production count isn't worth giving it its own production facility.)
