As for the VC status thing: that's just the way discord tests and rolls out new features. It gets added to a bunch of random servers and they wait for feedback

Historically discord has allowed servers to keep the join log private if they wanted to, or remove it entirely. Guess that's changing

Discord A/B tests things all the time. A lot of things in the client are only blocked because there is no button.

You can always attempt to ping a role by using the code but if role ping is disabled then it should never actually ping people in that role

The members list is actively being rolled out as well. Last I heard it was intentionally active in maybe 20% of servers

As long as you can’t actually make changes in the server and you can see all the data in a nice way it doesn’t bother me too much. I know people with edited clients can see all the channel names for example
