I am starting a new world on my switch after having a blast with rampant on PC. One of the things I enjoyed most about rampant were the enormous waves of larvae and small biters during the early game. It really forces you to commit to defense early. I hate how often I can almost skip automated turrets and ammo production entirely and directly go for flame throwers.

Deathworld is a bit too brutal, as I don't enjoy racing evolution too much, but I still want pollution to cause problems.

What settings would I need to adjust to get similar waves with extremely high numbers of low level biters?

Bonus points if train usage is heavily encouraged.

You could try rail world on a desert, can even tweak evolutions settings I think to slow it down, and upscale your pollution

The relevant things here are min/max group size, and the evolution sliders.

Increase the group sizes, maybe fiddle with evolution factors a bit.

Attack cost modifier is the big one. Set that to like 10%. That makes nests spawn 10 times as many bugs with the same amount of pollution absorbed. If that's too brutal, make it like 20% or 25%. That's 4 or 5 times as many bugs spawned for attacks.

Low attack cost modifier + huge max group size = ridiculous scale attacks every time you start tickling nests.

Large groups with small biters also kinda sounds like warptorio, that mod does NOT encourage trains tho
