no
he has hax
Yippe
Ok so, first things first we need to define what we want to “solve”
From our conversation, I think we have slightly different things we’re interested in
Yeah, I was working on splitter networks first
And then there's the actual realizations
So either we figure out something we can both write up together, or we can work on two separate things and help each other at the same time
I mean, it's sorta just whatever to me
I kinda want to go for something like
Given N inputs and M outputs, what’s the least amount of splitters required
Or, nodes if we want to be more general
Yeah, that's what I was trying
But it's probably gonna need a program
Doesn't seem easy to describe mathematically
Fun fact: this isn't a balancer
That’s the fun part
(And mostly why I want to do it mathematically, it seems like a fun challenge)
No, I mean, it's probably not possible to describe concisely
Like, there's probably no way haha
Sort of like, as an example, if you have f(n+1)=f(n)^2+1, there's no formula for f
I mean, what are we even trying to describe?
The solutions
Like, the minimal solutions
I guess you could describe how to find them, but that's just the same as an algorithm
What sort of program are you going for
At the end of it
Something like
Inputs - outputs
And then getting a blueprint
Seems like it'd be hard to beat the sat-solver
That’s why I’d try to use math
And it’s less about beating anyone
More just making something cool
The sat solver will always be cooler though 😛
Still moving
Whatcha been doing
Moving boxes
Right now I’m waiting for the internet guy to come over
Pretty fucking boring
I wonder if I can setup my pc
Hey since thos is the balancers thread does anyone know how to protect a base from rampant ai raiding
Thanks
What does that have to do with balancers?
ok
?
Grinch: my goals are beyond your understanding
I can help
I only play with rampant enabled
Omg I am officially moving in here, where do I sleep set up my shit

If you have a balancer ending like this, is it still prudent not to allow extra splitter connections where not previously put/needed, to force specific lines to fuse with other specific lines?
Eg, here, you can see up the top you can see that the column on the left moves over 1 space to the right, immediately tunneling to allow the rightmost tunnel up the top to jump to *its
- left side, where it then turns away off screen.
I could instead chuck a splitter up there and then it wouldn't matter, I'd save a bunch of tunnels.
did a major squeesh
mine on the left
so much damn rerouting holy hell
but I live for this
32:32?
at this point you're better off with priority splitters to one side
the only case in which that's a problem is when the resources get consumed by one production place such as green chips taking all the copper and you'd never have this problem with this many belts in parallel anyway
@light cargoplease use the correct channel
Is this not the correct one?
Well, is this kind of not more related to it being specifically a balancer? Asking for clarification
i mean this is a player made thread
Well I'd take it up with IronCart in that case
@gray meteor it's a thread about balancers, anyone can use it
same thing goes for the sushi thread
@light cargo the image on the left only needs one underground, so you'd be changing the one underground out for a splitter
if both belts have the same expected throughout I think it's fine
there might be some weird stuff when you only have some of the inputs full and some not
yeah I think if you only have one of those lines being used it would mess it up
@wanton talon ok so
The conversations should remain in their respective channels, even if anyone is able to use it
you're telling me the guy talking about balancer internals shouldn't use the thread dedicated to balancers
@trail holly I should be able to start work tomorrow or after-morrow
This is the correct channel...
This is coming from the guy who posted irrelevant content just a few hours ago...
sounds good!
Do you do this manually or use any computer assistance?
I have the best "balancer"
@trail holly the setup is alive
What setup
My computer setup
Unfortunately internet is still being a lil bitch
yeee awesome
self plug do you wanna watch me try to finish death world marathon in one sitting?
Are those curved?
yes
Any updates @kindred bobcat LOL
Yes
Nothing that I’m gonna post just yet
But I’ve gotten some ideas down
Before writing anything I need to actually solve it lol
whats the point of a balancer? to make sorting items on a x wide belt easier?
A lot of the time you just need a TU thing, which is something that distributes items to belts so that if one backs up it's redirected to some other non-backed-up outputs
A balancer does something similar but not equivalent in that it distributes stuff evenly among the outputs
Balancers are often used in unloading from a train, since they take equally from all inputs and thus you don't end up with awkward situations where you're only getting 2 items a second because all but one chest unloaded first
why make balancer when can install belt balancer?
mod lag, vanilla fun
Yes belt balancer mod very hungry
question, how does a 32-32 balancer use so few splitters? lol
Hey guys, I'm stuck trying to get a 4:6 balancer blueprint, the one I found doesn't balance correctly, anyone have a good one I could have?
@rigid estuary
Thank you for the help
not everyone wants to play with mods
especially ones that don't scale well when you use 1000 of these balancers
TU 2-1 Balancer?
no
Ill take it
I mean
