I am very excited
😎
Very excited!
yup
4 more days!!!
wooo
You desperately need more Violet Emojis hahaha
I do, but that requires me to go edit photos of her, which I don't have very much time to do rn
But the people demand more emojis! And by "the people" I mean at least me.
Lol
Well if people would like to volunteer to cut her face out of pictures I can definitely arrange for that
iOS 16. It does it for you
If you have an iPhone with iOS 16 it'll be straightforward (Just long press on her then crop the result)
Not sure how to on Android.
Or send them to me and I'll cut her out of pictures on my phone and send them back to you
Don't have an iPhone and I don't think android does that natively
But I can DM you a few photos
Sure
3 more days!!!
It says 2 for me
Well, closer to 2.5 days but it releases in the middle of the night for me
LETS GOO
2 more days!!!
ONE MORE DAY!!!
YES
Very Excite!
Soooooon.
Ok
Done!
Is that a
sticker??
It's a pin!
neat
Whats the gameplay like? Any videos of someone recording their usage of the controls, selecting stuff, cursor movement, etc?
Im a little skeptical of the seamlessness of input usability and resultant gameplay, and there's atm very little video content of Switch Gameplay in action
But I remain hopeful, it isn't like Wube to release buggy stuff just to push it onto a platform.
stares at every other game studio
There is at least partial keyboard and mouse support on the Switch.
Don't know how to configure movement though.
ah, oh wow, ok that makes sense using left and right hunbstick for movement and cursor movement.
Will be interesting how stuff like selection and copy and pasting is, even QoL stuff like snap-to-axis drag-building/deconning is.
I have a mighty need for gameplay vids.

Yay!!
Whoever made the "Quick Panel" UI on the switch version deserves a raise
It's Twinsen :)
Well then he deserves a raise!!!!!
Anyone playing on SWITCH and would be kind enough to answer some questions pls?
How can I
-
access „New Tips“ shown bottom left on screen
-
activate the quickbar
-
create a blueprint book
-
start creating a blueprint, select items/area and save
TIA
All of the above are in the quick panel, press and hold L
I'll recommend you play the tutorials, as those should get you familiar with the controls...
@warped heron tips can be found here (in Freeplay)
The "quickbar" is now in the "items" tab of the quick panel and all the blueprint buttons are in the "tools" tab.
Thank you and yes, I had found the quick panel, but still couldn’t work out how to create a blueprint
Nevermind, hopefully someone will have a YT tutorial especially for Switch soon
Well under the Tools is the button to create a blank blueprint item
All the blueprint stuff is disabled until you unlock bots for the first time
have been playing on PC before and had hoped, I could skip the tutorial on Switch, but it seems I will have to.
TY!
oh, did not realise. Have been playing on PC and totally forgot abt those beginner steps
TY!

Switch controls are slower but quite intuitive. Controlling the cursor with the touch screen really helps.
Switch controls work well for me
Also I just use the right stick instead of touchscreen
I tend to go back and forth
Your base looks well organized and you have waaaay more iron production than me
I just migrated my PC base to the switch and it's running real great
It took a bit of time to catch up and playing the world via LAN was definitely laggy
But once I saved it and fire it in single player the game ran smooth
I have several hundred hours of experience on PC I'm taking advantage of. You don't want to see my first base ever lmao
Oh yes I do :P
I'm getting more comfortable with the controls and that's a dangerous thing
Tbh i bought the switch version kinda to support the devs and hoping to not like the controls and stick to PC but... It is still soon engaging and the controls become so intuitive
Damn you Wube!
@tough jungle
Yo
What do you need help with
I keep demolishing my things when I try to shove stuff in assembees, can't figure out the key under for stack inserting
Also I can't figure out how to make or use blueprints
Default for depositing a stack in a machine is zL + A
And blueprints don't appear until you research bots for the first time
The patch updated the game from 1.1.69 to 1.1.70
For real? Nice! So we're up to date with the PC version?
For now, yes
I'll tell you what's missing, a show grid button
That's a debug option. You need to go into the controls and set a bind for "show debug GUI".
Fantástico!
Aaaand it's out of date again :P
RIP
Yeah idk
How do I share blueprints I make to other maps
Bind something to "toggle blueprint library" and place the blueprint in there, under "personal blueprints"
Alternatively you can open the library via the quick panel
I've gotten better at turret creeping, i wish there was a way to keep running while the quick panel is open tho
I never use quick panel I probably should start
There's plenty of info useful info screens that are only available in the quick panel
After selecting "Add tag" and "Confirm", how do I actually place the tag?
Move the cursor with the Right stick to where you actually want to place it
I would expect to then press A to place it, but this doesn't work.
It does work tho
Hit confirm, move the cursor with the right stick, press A
Might be something wrong with my controls or something.
I am spamming the A button.
Yeah that seems odd, right there should have dropped the tag, have you modified the controls?
Yeah, I've modified the right column of controls with keyboard and mouse bindings.
I haven't modified the left column of controls.
Interestingly, I can place tags with the mouse.
I also tried the touchscreen which works. Just no luck with the A button.
I wonder if the right buttons overwrite the left ones
First game i feel the terrible drift my switch has...bummer
Oh no
I did the recalibrate thingy and although in the test it's fix when I go back to the game happens again, poor engie just starts running
I haven't noticed at all, tho my switch's drift is relatively minor
Maybe the games i played didn't get affected much by drift
Or maybe has been the last 32 days in a row doing Mario kart 64 championship at the office
Factorio is the game I've noticed the drift the least
I tried playing with a mouse and the control, can't figure out what's the point, do I need the kb too?
Also has anyone has developed some sort claw like posture por your hands to do some weird buttons combinations?
I hope my switch doesn’t have drift
I don’t think it does
I got it in august I believe
I did end up removing all the keyboard/mouse controls in the right column and I can now place tags on the map with the A button.
I was also unable to select train stops on the map (with the A button). Removing the keyboard/mouse controls in the right column also resolved this.
Maaan, the car controls are horrendous
Car controls are super wonky on PC too. I actually think the car controls are a little better on Switch
negative 17 more days until release!
Welp, i might have to open my joy con and attempt to fix the drift, it's getting unplayable, the fix seems easy enough I'll let you if I fixed it or had to buy a new one lol
You can buy kits to replace the entire stick assembly on sites like ifixit
Cheaper than buying a whole new joycon
Anyone make mega base on switch
Just use wd-40 way easier
That's probably a temporary fix afaik
Apparently the real fix is placing a piece of cardboard on the stick holding plate
After many presses on the stick this plate bends and the stick starts malfunctioning
All solutions will be temporary
I'm trying to get there but haven't had any time to play lately.
Anyone know what the latest patch did? Can't find any notes anywhere.
Probably updated to the latest PC Hot fix.
Ahh
#announcements has all the patch notes. May have to go back a version or two though :P
Also: no About/changelog in the main menu on Switch?
There's an About, but nothing about patch notes
ONly Credits, Licenses, EULA, and Confirm.

How seamlessly are Switch players able to post screenshots of their factories/builds/issues into discord?
I’ve posted mine on Twitter, then saved them from there.
The QR code method to save it to your phone directly seems wonky and never worked for me.
It’s not that hard but it can be annoying to do it a lot
Always worked for me
Just scan both QR codes then save the picture by holding down on it
Easily enough
QR code method works best if you turn off mobile data on your phone before you scan the QR codes
I can't remember how it is on PC but while driving a tank and throwing grenades or capsules you can't really aim the tank rocket launcher, you gotta clear your cursor to regain control of it
Maybe this helps someone:
press in the right joystick and the cursor will turn into a +
With this it is now easier to copy entities and place ghosts or select stuff from inventory or choose an entity on map for pipette aso
Does anyone even play without using the cursor?
I believe everyone uses that as it’s kinda a pain in the butt to use the default like auto selection thing
Got this running on my Switch right now. Performance seems pretty good so far
🙂
I wish the selection thingy would let you scroll further than that immediate surrounding
Yeah that kind of is one of the biggest reasons it isn’t very practical
That would make it much better
You mean for the preview map?
Nah, in normal view if you're not using the cursor the selection defaults to the closest thing, but i wish you can like move the stick and select other things past the inmediate things you're surrounded by without needing to use the cursor
So like a cursor but with snapping
Ahh gotcha
Ok I did understand correctly
Ok now, all of the sudden I can't see my lan switch hosted game from my computer, if i host it public i can see it but it cannot connect
Nvm it was just the firewall lol
I'm getting a std::bad_alloc error while trying to join with the switch to my big base hosted on my PC
But i can load that same base hosted on the switch itself
I’d report this on the forums directly as the developers are more active there. Maybe there is some additional overhead for multiplayer that causes it to just be too much
I've googled the error and it all points out to a file that's too large for the switch to handle
Also I spent the afternoon setting up a headless server to better sync my PC and switch games, but only to realize swtich can't joint dedicated servers from the public list or lan, so i had to join via IP, if anyone's looking for advice on this lmk
Another wall i hit today was being unable to import a string for a map, there's simply no way to paste it into the text box.
The switch does not have a clipboard, so I'm somewhat surprised the text box exists at all, lol
Your PC save might be too large for the Switch to load.
New member here but just wanted to say I've been really enjoying the Switch release. It's been really fun to play during the various flights and delays over the last month. However, I've been playing only peaceful mode since I didn't want the added stress when I was traveling.
ayyo welcome to the club, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the game as you wish, the only thing that matters is that you're having fun
