#Overhaul mods/modpacks suggestions
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Feel free to list any other mods, modpacks, or mod combinations that you think should be noted!
I'm currently playing OPRDB
OmniPyaeRampantDangoreusBravenewworld
I have a couple other mods and lots of smaller ones as well in there, schall, nee, science-causes-evolution (disable all other evolution sources), toxic forest
It's INSANELY SLOW to start, so be aware of that, 12+h to get science done
Also be aware of biters, they aren't evolving without you doing science but they are still a constant threat and resource drain
You'll be using schall wood turrets and wood darts to defend yourself
You'll be low on power for a while, you'll be low on wood, you'll be low on plates
You'll be low on everything but you'll have hopes of some day finally getting somewhere
What you need to give yourself at the start:
one automated factory from py otherwise you can't make the forestry wood farm and one burner omnitracktor otherwise you can't make iron ore
Goals:
- get more power
- make turrets
- get all the wood around you
- work towards science for wall tech
- get automation
- idk, I'm only here so far xD
There's also normal
OmniPyDangoreus
it's pretty space restricting because you mine out ore and it gets denser the further out you go
makes for very cool compact spaghetti 😄
I haven't played it yet tho, so can't tell too much about it
Py has really good graphics. Also, I would replace medium Py with Short py (probably move it to medium as well). Medium Py has some issues and hiccups
can the ATOM pack be added to the list?
Seablock imo is significantly bigger and complex than Exotic Industries or IR3, to me its a different league
What is that?
All The Overhauls Modpack (SEK2 + BZ + 248k + 5dim + some bobs stuff and more). it’s been growing a lot recently
I feel like ultracube should be moved up to medium due to the sheer difference in gameplay. It's maybe not B+A levels but to me it seems a lot more different from vanilla than all the other ones in small. It might not add as much stuff as some of the other mods but in terms of how much it actually modifies gameplay I feel like it's above even some of the ones listed in medium. I definitely appreciate this list a ton though
I also would consider adding this modpack into small or maybe even an extra small category as it's super fun on principle alone even though it barely modifies big picture gameplay. Also gets rid of the more boring parts of Factorio such as finding more ore deposits, running long distances, and electric wiring:
It's not really a real overhaul but it requires a seperate save obviously And modifies the game more than something like ribbonworld. Only issue is that in rare cases the input feeders can break and you'll need editor extensions to fix it
is there a vanilla-friendly modpack that doesn't alter gameplay that you're aware. so this would be visuals, sounds, controls, things like that. If not any ideas how to find one?
Check the other pin in #modded-chat that mentions quality of life mods
Thanks. most recent one i can find mentioned is https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Teddys-QOL/dependencies
and seems that not everyone has the same definition of QoL as that includes stuff like squeak through
i'm not so sure QoL is what i'm looking for.
to me those are vanilla friendly. (pollution color is to make shallow water same color as deep water)
Exactly, so instead I’ve just provided you with a list: #modded-chat message
You can decide what you consider QoL
No point having a modpack for it
thank you. i thought you said mod discussions. sigh. i just glanced over your list above in this thread and thought, there not vanilla. beautiful game. here's the direct link to your post, thanks.
<#modded-chat message>
in modded discussion tweaks & utilities were suggested as good categories to look into. if you're curious why vanilla only or those mods, it's only cause i feel guilty giving myself steam achievements when mods disable that. lot of work todo. <#mod-dev-discussion message>
QoL huh? I have to give some thought what that means. Thanks for the warm thoughts and help Xorimuth
funny i just asked today here in discord AND on steam to add a new way to categorize mods. you're the first I've seen do that.

Am I allowed to suggest my own overhauls
Mod that adds several different tiers of arcospheres, and changes every recipe to require arcospheres and arcosphere management all throughout the game. Recipes are automatically generated, so this should be compatible with most overhaul mods.
Yes you are 🙂
Problem is that I’ve been butting against the message size limit on this one for a while
But I spot some more text that I can trim so I’ll add them later
What size would you put them in?
I would say both medium
I'd also like to note that, because arcotorio is largely generated recipes, it can easily be compatible with most other overhauls
we are currently working to add all the compat we can
depending on how you view raw difficulty, SSO might go into small-ish (approximately 50 hours for a playthrough)
Also, for the message size limit, what would be wrong with splitting it up into one pinned message for each order of complexity
That’s a good idea 😁
There ya go
I've put them both into Small-ish for now
thx ❤️
I would also recommend adding periodic madness@junior finch
probably in medium
done
awesome
💜
i do plan to have PM be in the large category, but considering its unfinished medium is perfectly fine :]
Secret boss along side the Py full
